Alumni News Mitchell Whyte (2018 North graduate) qualified second for finals with an automatic National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) qualifying time at the recent Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship Preliminaries. Whyte swam the 100 yard backstroke in 44.78 seconds! Points of Pride Superintendent Tucci Osorio to present before full Minnesota House Tomorrow, Superintendent Tucci Osorio will give a presentation to the full Minnesota House. She will be discussing the cost of closing the achievement gap. Tartan student named as a finalist for the Gates Scholarship Tartan senior Lydia Ato has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious Gates Scholarship! Tartan math teacher named president of statewide council Karen Hyers, Tartan math teacher, has been named the president of the Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics! Lydia Ato North High swimmers competed in Minnesota State High School League’s State Swim Meet North sophomore Jonathan Peabody placed 14th at Saturday's State Finals! He also set a new school record swimming the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.48 . North freshman Willy Coborn placed 26th at Saturday's State Swim Finals. He competed in the 100-yard freestyle.

Tartan Knowledge Bowl wins Metro Regional Knowledge The Tartan Knowledge Bowl team won the Metro Regional Knowledge Bowl meet at North St. Paul High School on February 27, and finished as the top team out of 130 teams in the entire metro. The team will be going to the State Knowledge Bowl Meet in Brainerd in early April! Congratulations to the Tartan Knowledge Bowl team of Mady Valento, Evan Saunders-Pearce, Henry Piepgras, Mario Valento, and Sean Higgins! JROTC receives top ten percent rating of Distinguished Unit with Merit On February 26, the JROTC unit went through an inspection from the headquarters out of Alabama. Our program and cadets received an "Exceeds Standards" rating and were recognized as a Distinguished Unit with Merit. This designation places the unit in the top ten percent of all Air Force JROTC programs worldwide. This is a huge honor for our cadets who worked very hard preparing for this inspection.

Tartan wrestlers competed in State Wresling Tournament Tartan wrestlers Keilichi Kong, Landen Arends, Zach Dox, and Gerardo Maldonaldo competed in last Saturday’s (Minnesota State High School League) MSHSL AAA State Wrestling Tournament. Unfortunately, Maldonado and Dox got beat in their wrestle back matches and Arends and Kong did not get the opportunity. Regardless, these wrestlers had a great season!

North/Tartan Adaptive Floor Hockey competed in Section Play-Offs The North/Tartan Adaptive Floor Hockey team hosted Mounds View in the section play-offs on March 2. Unfortunately, the team lost to Mounds View with a score of 11-5.

Top 100 High School Artists Congratulations to the high school students selected among the Top 100 High School Artists in the Twin Cities metro area! Their work will be on display at the AZ Gallery in St. Paul throughout March. An opening for the art show is Thursday, March 5 at 6:30 PM.

North Girls Bowling Team Congratulations to Annie Glasow, Charlie Her and Alexis Bialucha on the Girls Bowling Team as they advance to the State Tournament Saturday, March 7 at Park Grove Bowl (11:00 AM). They play again for the Conference Team Sunday, March 8 at Concord Lanes (11:00 AM). North and Tartan Boys Basketball Teams Face Off Last night, North hosted Tartan during the boys basketball game. The final score was North 53 to Tartan 65. Congratulations to both of these strong programs!

Scene Around 622

The John Glenn Service Club helped with some spring cleaning at Cross Lutheran Church. John Glenn Middle School is appreciative of Cross Lutheran Church for being a great community partner.

Recently, students in first and fourth grades at Castle Elementary sang and danced their hearts out during their concerts. The audiences were in for a real treat!

Last Saturday, North High hosted the first annual Rock the North Competition. Over twenty teams competed, including the Northern Lights Show Choir and John Glenn Middle School’s choir. North’s band entertained the crowd while the judges finalized the results! Everyone in attendance had a great time. There was even a livestream of the event on social media.
