Materials

Composites with different carbon black content were prepared:

0.25%, 0.5% and 0.75%wt CB content: The appropriate amounts of PE was added to 1wt% CB containing master batch in an internal mixer (Brabender, PL2200) at 190°C and 60 rpm and blended for 10 min.

1% to 7% CB content: received from by Kavosh Polymer Alborz Co

Film preparation

All the composites were hot pressed to thin films (120±50 μ) at 190 °C for 90 seconds under 40 atmosphere pressure for turbiditycharacterization.

They were hot pressed at 190°C under 30 atmosphere pressure to thicker films (1 mm) for measuring their electrical conductivity.

Conclusion

Electrical conductivity, turbidity and rheology of carbon black loaded PE composites depend on its dispersion morphology.

CB network facilitates PE chains movements.

CB network enhances the composite turbidity monotonically.

CB network magnifies the composite electrical conductivity followed by its saturation.

Dispersion morphology initiated by forming a fine network followed by its coarsening.
