INTRODUCTION

PROGRAMME DESIGN

Built environment normally has to undergo a substantialrepair and maintenance, although this will depend on theextent of decay suffered by the individual building. Ifproperly maintained however, buildings should survivefor the enjoyment of many generations. This Programmeis designed to provide adequate skills and expertiserequired to deal with all the important aspects ofconcrete technology, waterproofing, repair, restoration,renewal and building maintenance management.

The Programme duration is 12 months. It is divided in 2Modules, each term is of 6 months. Extension of theduration for completion of studies is normally notallowed.

The Programme Design is modular. A module is of 6months duration, has 4 courses for study, 4 assignmentto write, one seminar to attend and examinations. Thisone year involves 2 Modules, 8 courses (10lessons each), 2 contact classes and 2 Examinations.

A student must register for one module at a time, takeexaminations at the end of six months and pass at leasttwo courses (subjects), then register for the nextmodule.He / She has to clear the rest courses of the first modulebefore taking the examination of the second module

The study material for a Programme typically comprisesthe following:

The contact classes are held every module at pre-informed dates and venues. All students are required toattend the seminars (Contact Classes ). The purpose ofContact Classes is to provide face to face teaching tostudents for becoming more focused on studies andsolve individual problems.

Examinations of the SODE Programme are held fourtimes in an year, generally in the months of March, June,September and December at the end of each Module. Itis a Course-wise written examination. Pass percentage is40 in each course.

ADMISSION

ELIGIBILITY

Admission is open to candidates from India and abroadthroughout the year.

In order to be eligible for admission to GraduateProgramme, the candidate should successfully meet thefollowing criteria:

i. Diploma in any branch of Engineering.

ii. Non-Engineering Graduates with 2 years' workexperience in construction.

PAYMENT OF FEES

The Schedule of fees and other charges for variousProgramme are given in later paras. The following pointsmay be noted by all students.

1. Fees once paid are non-refundable.2. The fees will be forfeited if a student, after having

been enrolled, leaves studies in between or fails tocomplete the course successfully.

3 Fees are payable by Demand Draft drawn in favourof NICMAR – SODE, payable at Pune. Personalcheques and cash are not accepted.

4. The fees and other dues payable at the time ofadmission.

5. Students who are unable to complete theProgramme they have selected during the normalduration should pay the fees as per the new schemeprevailing at that time for completing theProgramme.

Contact classes fee is Rs. 2757.50 per module.

NICMARNational Institute of Construction Management andResearch (NICMAR) is a leading educational Instituteestablished by the Indian construction industry.
