Notable for his works such as the Gastropteron rubrum which he took and got published in the Scuba Diver Through The Lens Magazine.

Studied in Central Saint Martins college of Art and Design, London

His photographs mostly consist of very striking fish portraits, divers and ship wrecks, with intricate details and interesting colour palettes.

at Vafolpoulelo cultural centre in Thessaloniki, which moved to Katerini Pieria for "Alkaterineia 2008” and then to Vienna, Amicale, European Patent office february to august 2008 since it was that good.

His pictures have not changed in terms of style and setting since the beginning. However, he has started to expand his range of photography to even sports photography where he focuses on the subjects aesthetic and grace.

Nicholas Samaras’s work also has indeed made a positive difference in terms of making the public aware of marine conservation.

As his work shows the beauty of the ocean and its wonders, he in turn wants people to know about how the oceans ecosystem needs help.

His eye for detail is also incredible, displaying numerous colours and texture in depth, making the picture stand out, for the right reasons.

Work wiseHis work, to me, is incredibly refreshing. With a

balance of “easy on the eye” images and equally striking closeups, I feel that he brings the raw emotions of what its like in the ocean, like the ebb and flow, with just pictures.

His varying pieces, be it black and white or just colour, show the vastness of the sea and also the beauty that we may just look past whenever we think about the sea.

This picture is intriguing as there is a really nice cool lighting where the water is, singling out the diver. And also the rule of thirds is applied here to further focus on the water with the diver. The lighting of the cave also gives a circular leading line to the diver.

This picture is really interesting, showing the movement of the animal, as well as making the background black, causing the focus to be on the animal itself. Also that in turn fully shows the colours of the animal in its varying hues.

This picture is also has its background blacked out and a lighting coming from the top to focus on the squid. Probably had the sides photoshopped to get the light stream effect.

This picture has an interesting effect of reflection onto the waters surface showing details of not only the bottom of the reptile, but the top as well. The background sort of compliments the reptile as well.

This picture was taken using a snoot, giving a vignette like effect to focus on the subject. The colour contrast between the subject and the anemones make the subject stand out further.

Conclusion

Nicholas Samaras has taken interesting and exotic pictures that continue to inspire and excite me, as well as many others out there. I hope his pictures reach out more for marine conservation as well to continue showing the world beauty beneath the depths.
