Multicultural Public Speaking Inter-District Final On Thursday the 27th August I represented our Wagga Wagga in the Multicultural Public Speaking Inter-District Final to select a representative to go to Sydney for the NSW State final. Firstly, we presented our prepared speech; my topic was Words Can Hurt. After a 15 minute afternoon tea break it was time for the impromptu topics. With only 5 minutes preparation time, we had to give a 2 minute speech on the topic, ‘Tracks’. I spoke for 2 minutes and thoroughly enjoyed speaking. I didn’t make it through to the final but it was a great opportunity and experience. Jaime Esler

DIRT AREA

There are still continuing concerns regarding the safety of the dirt area in the afternoons. The school continually receives complaints from parents and the general public regarding the amount of cars trying to access such a small area, causing traffic jams in both the dirt area and Lake Albert Road. The congestion in Lake Albert Road impacts on the buses, general flow of traffic and students and parents who use the footpath outside the dirt area. The situation worsens when it is wet weather. After discussions with a number of outside agencies and the P&C the school has decided to close the dirt area from 2:30pm until 4:00pm.

This will occur day 1 Term 4. This means that parents who have been collecting their children from the dirt area will need to organise an alternative to collect their children in the afternoons. We appreciate that this will be inconvenient for many but the safety of our students is paramount as is the safety of people using Lake Albert Road. If you have any concerns or queries please contact the school to discuss the matter.
