From the Principal

Dear families,

As we come to the end of Week Three at St Joseph’s, excitement is high as Southern Cotton Dancing With the Stars is about to launch this weekend!

On Wednesday evening, at the dress rehearsal, the stars wowed the crowd with their polished performances. Each dancer’s participation in Dancing With The Stars has been a generous and much appreciated gift to our school. The support from the wider Leeton community has been very encouraging including sponsorship and ticket sales.

NUDE FOOD DAY EVERY MONDAY

Every Monday will be Nude Food Day. On Nude Food Day, our aim is for student lunch boxes to be wrapper free. The purpose of this is to raise awareness of ways we can reduce waste/packaging and also to keep the healthy food profile high. We want our students to be informed about how we can be stewards of God’s creation. This is a practical way to show that each of us CAN make a difference to the amount of waste created. Thank you for your support.

GOLDEN APPLE DOCKETS

A major fundraiser for St Joseph’s is the collection of GOLDEN APPLE DOCKETS. The Golden Apple Supermarket very generously donates money to the school according to the amount spent over the year by the school (and extended) community.

This is an EASY fundraiser for the school, so please KEEP YOUR DOCKETS AND SEND THEM IN WITH YOUR CHILD TO BE COLLECTED IN THEIR CLASS.

DANIEL MORCOMBE FUNDRAISER

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Daniel Morcombe Fundraiser last Friday 25 October. A total of $195.40 was raised.

ENVIROMENTORS WORKSHOP - LUNCHES UNWRAPPED

This week the students had an opportunity to learn about sustainability and waste reduction through a workshop run by Keep Australia Beautiful NSW. The workshop focused on students developing an understanding of waste avoidance and the significant amount of packaging used on food. They explored the environmental implications of using different materials to package foods, evaluating the benefits and detriments of a range of options to make an informed choice about the best or better alternative to single use packaging.
