The compeƟƟve swimmers travelled by bus to the Nowra AquaƟc Park and enjoyed some very compeƟƟve racing and nished the day with Ɵme on the water slides and in the splash pad. Other students from years 36 walked to the Bay & Basin Leisure Centre and enjoyed lots of fun aquaƟc acƟviƟes. A huge thank you to Ms Plumb, Mrs Milani and Ms Douglass for organising these events. Thanks so much to the many parents who assisted with Ɵme keeping, compeƟƟve carnivals can’t run without your assistance. Many thanks to the parents, grandparents and friends, who cheered the students on during these special events. District Swimming Carnival What a fantasƟc day at the District Carnival last Friday. From the Principal

It was lovely to see so many parents last Wednesday evening at our Meet and Greet.  This was the first of many opportuni es for parents to learn more about what is happening at the school and in the classrooms. Thanks to the P&C for suppor ng this event with a sausage sizzle.  Like other schools in our local community, Vincen a Public has moved into stage based classes, this allows students to benefit from the exper se of more teachers, enables greater flexibility in how the curriculum is delivered, the students develop wider friendship networks and there is more scope to differen ate the learning of students to meet their academic needs. If you weren’t able to a end the mee ngs, an informa on note has been sent home with your child. Don’t forget … parent/teacher interviews will be happening in a few weeks.  

This week, Scripture and Ethics classes will resume.  Mrs McCabe is now the coordina ng teacher.  Classes are each Thursday, at the new  mes   

11:15am‐ 11:45am = Stage 2 & 3 11:45am ‐ 12:15pm = Kindergarten & Stage 1 

 

The coming weeks are very busy as we begin the spor ng season. District team trials have begun with individual students being invited to a end. Such trials are designed for Stage 3 students who play the sport regularly outside of school hours. Students interested in a sport, but not regular players, are encouraged to join the school knockout teams.  We appreciate the support parents give to enable students to a end a variety of trials.  

School ac vi es are beginning too. The popular coding club has resumed, with SRC, drumming, choir and sport training to begin this week.  Janine Hopwood

Attendance It is crucial that students have maximum a endance at school. Children that miss significant  me, unfortunately fall behind and it can be very difficult to catch up. Please try to minimise your child’s absences.  Any absence requires an explana on. Absence notes can now be submi ed on our VPS School Enews digital app or via an absence note or phone call to the school on 4441 7180. For a planned absence (e.g. holiday) the Department of Educa on requires an applica on to the Principal for extended leave before the planned absence.  An applica on form is available from the office. Late Arrivals/Early Departures If your child arrives at school a er the bell rings at 8:45am you need to go to the front office and have them entered into the electronic roll and explain their late arrival. The same process applies if your child is leaving the school early.  This is a Departmental requirement.

Meet our School Captains for 2019

Why did you want to be a school leader? Taryn ‐ To set an example to the younger students and show them that if you work hard you can be whatever you want to be and that doing the right thing is the right thing to do. Gillie ‐ to be a good role model for the younger kids and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. What is the best and most enjoyable part of being a school leader? Taryn ‐ That people look up to you and I am able to give students a voice in the school. I really enjoy being a good role model for students. Gillie ‐ I enjoy being someone that the students look up to and I’m looking forward to helping run assemblies. What quali es do you bring to the role of School Captain? Taryn ‐ I am helpful, outgoing and confident when talking to people  Gillie ‐ I am confident, respec ul and I get on well with people. I like to encourage the students to use recycling bins. What are your interests outside school? Taryn ‐ Playing soccer and musical theatre. Gillie ‐ Mountain bike riding, playing soccer and going to the beach.
