Welcome back or welcome to Dungog Public
School. This year will be a wonderful fun-filled
year of learning and extra curricula activities.
I look forward to working with everyone again
this year and ensuring our students have every
opportunity to succeed.
A HUGE welcome to our 33 Kindergarten
students who started school last Monday.
Welcome to our new teachers and staff. They
have all had a smooth transition to Dungog
Public School.
Attendance will be a focus for Dungog Public
School this year. IT’S NOT OK TO BE
AWAY!
Positive Behaviour for Learning will also be a
focus again this year for Dungog Public School.
Congratulations to all swimmers who competed
at our annual Swimming Carnival last Friday.
Thank you to all parents, carers, staff and
community members who assisted on the day.
Also a BIG thank you to Mrs Long and Ms
Gordon who organised the day and made sure
everything ran smoothly. Notes for the Zone
Swimming Carnival will go out this week.
Wednesday is the Anniversary of the Apology
to Members of the Stolen Generations by
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in 2008. This day
is a sacred moment in our nation's history that
must never be forgotten.
Congratulations to Miss Brianna Mowbray who
was successful in gaining the Assistant
Principal’s position. Miss Mowbray will
transition into the position over the next 2
weeks.
Dungog Public School will no longer be using
the Skoolbag App. The link with the app will be
disconnected in the next couple of weeks.
Please find attached to the newsletter the
‘School Community Charter’ that the
Department of Education has developed to
help and support schools and communities to
build positive relationships.

Messages Parents/carers are reminded
that our school hours are: 8.40am to 3.10pm. Teachers are not on duty until 8.40am each morning. Please ensure your child/ren are not at school earlier than 8.40am as they will not be supervised.
Water bottles - As the weather is quite warm please ensure your child/children are bringing a water bottle to school everyday.
Monday Morning PBL Assemblies start at 9.10am. Parents/carers and community members are welcome to attend.
Infants and Primary Sport is every Friday for Infants and Primary students.
Our Whole School Assembly is held fortnightly on a Thursday at 2.10pm. Parents/carers and community members are welcome to attend. Our first whole school assembly will be Thursday 7th March (week 6).

Any Parents/Carers or community members wanting the DPS newsletter emailed to them weekly please contact the school.
Facebook - Dungog Public School has a very active facebook page. Like our page so you can follow all the exciting things that are happening at our school.
The P&C Uniform Shop will be open Thursday’s on even weeks from 2.30pm to 3pm. Orders can be left at the office.
Dungog PS Newsletter goes out every Monday. If anyone would like articles included in our newsletter please email the information to our school email by Thursday the week before as the newsletter will be finalised on Friday’s before going home on Monday’s.
Schools Clean Up Australia Day We will be taking part in Clean Up School’s Day again this year on Friday 1st March. Please remember to send gloves and a bag to collect rubbish in with your child on this day.

Stage One- 1M Welcome to 2019 in 1M. It has been a wonderful start to the year with so much learning and fun happening in our classroom. Well done to the Year 2 students who participated in their first Swimming Carnival last week. I am looking forward to a wonderful year with 1M. Kindergarten- KM So lovely to see our new Kindergarten faces! Everyone is doing a great job at learning their sounds every day and a tricky word every night. We are on our way to being super learners already. We have also practised our counting to 10 and writing numbers 1-5. Keep bringing in your sound books and don’t forget we have Library on Monday’s. Have a super week of learning!
Stage One- 1G Welcome back to school 1G. It has been an exciting two weeks of getting to know each other and getting back into routine. Miss Gear would like to say a big thankyou to all the stage 1 students for making her feel so welcomed. I can’t wait for the term ahead and all the exciting things to come. Have a fabulious week 3!

RFF with Mr Kemp Welcome back everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed their break. PD/H/PE lessons are in full swing. A big focus this term will be looking at Emotions, what they feel like and how we deal with them. We will also be focusing on being responsible members of society. Congratulations to everyone who competed in the Swimming Carnival last week!
Stage Two- 2G WOW, what a first couple of weeks it’s
been! 2G have been busy getting into
routine and learning new things about
each other. Last week we started our
English and Maths groups. Miss Gay was
so proud at how all Stage 2 students
settled in and showed RESILIENCE (our
Stage 2 key word).

Positive Behaviour for Learning Monday Morning Cola Routine
Stage Two- 2J Welcome back! In 2J we have settled in nicely and we are off to a good start with our English and Maths groups. We have welcomed a new student, Grace to our school and hope she has settled in well! Parents/Guardians, please don’t hesitate to contact me through the school office if you have any questions or concerns!! I look forward to meeting/chatting with you all over the next few weeks.

2M have had a super start to
the school year, showing our
school’s expectations and I’m
looking forward to celebrating
their achievements throughout
the year! Our Library day is
Tuesday and we have swimming
for sport on Fridays this term.
Stage Three- 3G Welcome to week 3! Everyone has had a great few weeks settling into their new classrooms and getting to know all their 2019 classmates. We have already seen some new friendships forming! It was great to see so many parents at our Meet and Greet afternoon in Stage 3. 3G Literacy have started reading their class novel and have been predicting and exploring the themes linked to the book. During Maths we have been focusing on whole number to improve our skills. Swimming for sport starts again this Friday 15th February so remember to bring your swimmers, a hat, a towel and sunscreen. Enjoy your week and revise your spelling words.
Stage Three- 3L Welcome to 3L! I have the privilege of teaching Stage 3 this year and I’m looking forward to a wonderful year of fun and learning. We have been busy learning routines and expectations for each subject and have had a wonderful start. If you missed our Meet and Greet afternoon, please feel free to call in and say hello and I will answer any questions you may have. Have a great week.

with amazing work!

K-6S K-6S students have made an excellent start to the school year. We have been learning what a noun is and looking at lots of words that contain the sound: ‘b’ ‘bb’. We have also made a start on our thematic unit for this term which is ‘The Circus’. We can’t wait for more circus learning fun!
3-6B
Welcome back everyone to 2019. 3-6B has moved classrooms and also has some new classmates. This term we will be focusing on the theme circus. We have started the year off by learning all about sizzling starts and how to make our writing exciting. I think tasting the popcorn before we wrote about it was sizzling enough for some!

ATTENDANCE AT SCHOOL is a BIG deal for Dungog Public School. We take it seriously!! Attendance facts:
Did you know that if your child misses as few as eight days in a school term, by the end of primary school they will have missed a whole year of Education?
By law, you are required to send your child to school every day. If your child has to be away from school for any reason, please either tell your child’s teacher or send a signed note explaining the reason for the absence within seven days.

P&C News
P&C President – Mel Walton The P&C are excited to launch our new summer canteen menu applicable from WEEK 4 - term 1. Our canteen currently operates Monday, Wednesday and Friday and is entirely volunteer run. This year we have included some great value, nutritious meal deals to our menu as well as a retro classic everyone will love, Frozen Pineapple Rings! You will notice some unavoidable price increases on some items in line with market price increases. We are committed to offering good value for money on freshly prepared, nutritious food for our children. Our first P&C Meeting for 2019 will be held on Monday 18th February at 6pm in the school Library. New members are always welcome. The P&C were successful in gaining a grant from Hunter Water & Dungog Shire for sustainable measures for our garden. We accepted the cheque at a recent presentation (photo to the right).

A big thank you to the P&C for organising the Dungog Men’s Shed to make and install some new seats at the Horse Paddock. Thank you also to Norco and Burns Earthmoving who contributed to the project.
