Always anxious to be closer to you, we are pleased to present you this new edition of our newsletter «The SPOT», in which you will find the key elements of our business, but also the details of our activities and what’s new in this quarter across our company.

We strongly value strengthening our relationships, through the SPOT, which is an important link in our external communication and a guarantee of a real exchange.

Several professional events have fuelled the lives of SCR over the last three months and new challenges, both operational and human, have been identified. These achievements have been driven mainly by the confidence of its key shareholder, Caisse de Dépôts et de Gestion (CDG), which has supported the company in its strategic transformation plan.

At the same time, SCR pursues its ambition to expand internationally, while maintaining a significant market share, particularly in East Africa. As such, an upcoming opening in Rwanda has now been approved.

Thus, SCR has succeeded in consolidating its position as the leading reinsurer in the Moroccan market and as a reference partner for insurance companies in Africa and the Middle East, in accordance with its development plan.

In addition, SCR (Société

Centrale de Réassurance) was able to enrich its offer, thanks in particular to expanding the range of its products and services, thus meeting the specific needs of its partners. In this sense, our company has a new structure dedicated to Specialty Lines.

Not to mention the dynamics of SCR Academy RE, whose main objective is to provide its employees, both Moroccan and international, technical support and expertise covering the various lines of insurance. A targeted program was provided for this purpose.

Also noteworthy are the partnerships formed in the context of SCR’s strong participation in events dedicated to Insurance and Reinsurance professionals in Morocco and abroad. These events include presence at the «Rendez-vous de Casablanca de l’Assurance» (Casablanca Insurance Meeting), the 42nd General Assembly of FANAF, as

well as participation in Dubai World Congress (DWIC). Not to mention the 5th African Actuarial Congress, which has become an essential meeting place to follow the evolution of the profession and to take stock of future prospects.

Also, SCR has been able to further focus its efforts on solidarity initiatives, in order to meet the challenges of social development, societal and sustainable development within the company. Many philanthropic actions have been launched.

Finally, internal development is also one of the visions of SCR. Internal collaborators were mobilised to become involved in public-spirited blood donation. This humanitarian act is fully in line with the social commitment of our organisation.

SCR took part in the Dubai World Congress (DWIC) at a key event held at the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC), considered the leading financial hub of Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

With over more than 500 participants from 35 different nationalities, this meeting was an excellent opportunity

for SCR to meet the main operators in the Insurance and Reinsurance sector and forge partnerships with them.

This meeting has also created opportunities for exchanging experiences and ideas with other insurance companies, shaping the future of the industry through the use of innovative business models and pioneering social media channels and new technologies.

SCR did not fail to take advantage of the highlights of the conferences led by seasoned experts around topics related to the insurance sector.

International expansion, targeting high-potential markets

Organizational restructuring of SCR’s Africa regionContinuing its unremitting efforts for development in Africa, SCR has initiated an organizational restructuring in the African region. This operation reinforces the proximity with its partners and provides them with suitable support.

Indeed, since its creation, SCR has been able to develop a strong presence in regional markets in Africa and the Middle East and has thus consolidated its African presence, through several actions including:

- The opening of a representative office in Abidjan and soon in Kigali / Rwanda

- The animation and active participation in the regional institutions and during the events organized in Morocco and Africa - Partnerships woven with the various African Market Reinsurance actors.

SCR is represented within the Africa Zone by: - “North Africa” department: Mrs. Ilham ABRAICH ([email protected])

- “Africa West and Centre” department: Mr. Hubert DABIRA ([email protected])

- “Eastern and Southern Africa” department: Ms. Houda MCHICHE([email protected])

Consolidated financial achievements for SCR for 2017 At the end of 2017, Société Centrale de Réassurance (SCR) posted good financial performances, benefiting in particular from the confidence of its major shareholder, Caisse de Dépôts et de Gestion (CDG). The latter has supported the company in its strategic transformation plan.

As a result, the business experienced a premium volume of just over 2 billion DHS.Consolidated shareholders’ equity was 2.6 billion DHS, corresponding to a net profit of 491 Mdhs. For its part, the ROE reached 18.78%.

Approval for the opening of a representative office of SCR in Rwanda

SCR is pursuing its overseas expansion strategy by obtaining approval for a future opening in East Africa, in Kigali, Rwanda. This opening on the African continent began some years ago, by inaugurating the first representative office in Abidjan in the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. This choice can be explained in particular by the development prospects offered by Rwanda,

with good economic growth and extensive infrastructure.

As such, SCR aims to develop services with high added value for East Africa, thus benefiting Rwanda from its knowledge, know-how and expertise in Insurance and Reinsurance.

The expansion of SCR towards new partnerships in East Africa makes the Moroccan approach a replicable reference on the continent, and accentuates its position as the leader in Reinsurance.

Expert’s word,Launch of a new exclusive «Specialty Lines» structure

With the aim of enriching its offer and consolidating its strategic development plan, Société Centrale de Réassurance set up, in February 2018, a new structure dedicated exclusively to «Specialty Lines».

This new Business Unit is essentially aimed at reinforcing more intensively the offer of accompanying our partners, Moroccan and foreign. The challenge is to provide them with a wider range of products and services, thus meeting their specific needs on specialized business lines such as credit-surety insurance, political violence, cyber-risks, etc. ...

A transversal structure that is necessary to make «Specialty Lines» a major vector of development for our company, by focusing on a wide range of strong actions, particularly through: the acquisition of expertise, industry watch, the setting up of partnerships, coverages...

In this regard, a first agreement was concluded for the «political violence» line of business.

SCR-Socially Responsible BusinessIn the framework of its CSR approach, SCR has carried out several actions and initiatives of solidarity, placing the community, societal and sustainable development challenges at the heart of its group strategy.

Financial contribution: donation of computer equipment to the community An SCR delegation and a representative of the CDG Foundation actively led a donation operation in favour of the two public secondary schools: Jamal Eddine AL AFGHANI secondary school and TOUAMA high school, located in the rural area of Marrakech.

This benevolent approach was held under good conditions, thanks to the joint efforts of the representatives of the Ministry of National Education, the Directors of educational institutions and the Caïds of the Ghmate and Touama Communities.

Organisation of the Days of the Finance for the benefit of young studentsSCR has set up 2 financial awareness workshops as part of the 7th edition of the «Finance Days for Children and Young People». On the menu of

this program, 40 primary and middle school students were welcomed at the company’s headquarters.

Organized in partnership between Bank AL Maghrib and the Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies, this event aims to introduce young people to the Finance and Insurance worlds.

An internal mobilization of SCR employees to donate blood

SCR mobilizes its internal staff to take part in citizen actions. To this end, blood donation campaigns are organized regularly in support of the efforts of the Regional Blood Transfusion Center. This generous act is part of the continuity of the social commitment of our company, in order to contribute to an increased volume available at the blood bank of Casablanca.
