Diary Dates 2020

From the Principal – Katherine Holman

At this stage there will still be no changes to the

precautionary COVD-19 measures implemented. If any

of the restrictions change I will be informing the

community as quickly as possible.

Interviews

Some teachers will be conducting interviews face to face

while others will do their interviews over online platforms

such as webex or phone. Your class teacher will advise

you of how the interviews will be conducted and any

instructions if required.

For Face to Face Interviews – As per Department for

Education requirements Parents will be required to

fill in a COVID -19 Site Entry form. This can only be

filled in on the day of the interview.

Please either arrive 5 minutes early to collect the form

from outside of the classroom and fill it in or we have

attached the form to the newsletter so you can fill it in

prior to coming. If filling the form in on site please bring

your own pen. Teachers will have hand sanitiser available

on arrival and departure.

Interviews will take place in week 8, 9 and 10. This year

the Mid-Year Progress Reports will be given out at the

interview. We will be using a different online booking

system to previous years that still allows families to

choose their times and is very user friendly. Time slots are

15 minutes in duration and please be aware that you

should leave a gap if you are booking for more than one

student to give you a chance to get to the next interview.

Interviews may be slightly shorter to allow the teacher to

be on time for the next appointment. To help us run on

time it is extremely important we start on time and finish

on time. If more time is required you can make

arrangements with the class teacher to continue the

conversation at a different time. We are aiming at 100%

participation in interviews. If your child has an NEP or

One Plan you will be given the opportunity to book a

double slot. Your class teacher/s will advise you when you

can do this.

All students from Year 1 to Year 7 will be provided with

an A to E grade. Please remember that a ‘C’ grade is the

expected achievement at your child’s year level. Your

child will also be given a grade for their effort and this is

important to discuss with children as it will indicate

whether your child is doing the best they can do.

Teachers will talk about student’s grades for achievement

and effort including strengths and weaknesses in Maths,

"Excellence and Care"

Obviously there has been disruptions to our usual teaching

due to COVID-19. As a result reports may contain some

non-applicable (NA) grades.

This may occur due to work not being completed or

submitted or the area has not been covered yet. This may

have occurred whilst students were participating in online

learning. Not applicable may also be assigned when there

is not enough evidence in an area for students to receive a

grade in their mid-year report and so their final grade in

this subject will be in the end of year report. It will be

more difficult for teachers to assign grades this term but

we feel it is important that families know how their child

is progressing and their attitude to learning.

Assembly

This week we had our first virtual online assembly. The

comperes did a good job of presenting online. Mr C had

put together some clips, graphics and pictures for the

Kaurna Welcome and National Anthem. As this week is

Reconciliation Week Ms Spartley put a Power Point

together to celebrate, acknowledge and Educate students

about Reconciliation. Although we did have some minor

technical issues it went pretty well for a first attempt. Well

done to everyone involved. Some of the feedback from

the children has been that they enjoyed it and it was good

to do something together.

Ms Spartley and Ms Tammy have also put some bunting

around the school to celebrate reconciliation that classes

have made using pictures to illustrate we are all in this

together. When you are dropping off your children or

picking them up please make sure you have a look.

RULE REMINDERS for PARENTS AND

STUDENTS

A reminder that no students are to be riding bikes or

scooters in the school yard – before or after school.

This is against school rules and is unsafe. Students not

following these directions will receive yard rethinks

and will miss out on playtime. If parents see children

on bikes or scooters in the yard please let the office

know.

Students are not to be on play equipment or oval

before and after school – This is Out Of Bounds. Please

encourage kids to sit sensibly in the nature play or

near the office. Students should not be in the yard

before 8.35am. Students need to go to their classrooms

when the bell goes at 8.35am.
