Bus Conduct Reminders:

Riding the bus is a privilege and the

school rules apply to the bus as well.

Students are expected to follow all of

the STAR rules and that includes not

using electronics. Taking pictures and

videos and posting these online is not

allowed. Rules provided by the drivers

on individual routes also apply to all

students. Conduct tickets may be issued

and suspension of bus privileges may

occur as a result. These expectations

are routinely reviewed with students.

Please ensure that you are discussing

these expectations with your child as

suspended bus privileges are very

inconvenient for working parents.

Winter Weather

Reminders and

News for Bus Families

As we all se:le back into school rounes a;er

the break, it’s a good me to remind everyone

about our winter weather policies. Schools

will connue to stay open during winter

weather events, but on occasion bus service

may have to be cancelled for the day if roads

are considered too dangerous to travel due to

snow or icy condions. Announcements re-

garding bus delays or cancellaons are made

via local radio staons on the affected day.

You can subscribe to My School Bus Monitor

at www.diversifiedbus.ca to receive nofica-

on of delays on your route. Thank you for

ensuring children are dressed for the weather

and for reminding them not to play on road-

side snow piles. We ask that students are at

their stops 5 minutes before the scheduled

arrival me, but they are not expected to wait

more than 15 minutes beyond the regular pick

up me. Safety is always our first priority. In

the coming months video cameras will start

being installed on bus routes to assist drivers

with safety and compliance.

It may vary as to when you receive informaon about your child(ren).

Teachers are wring a mid-year CSL in January 2020.

This format will look similar to the year end summave report but they will not

contain grades. Parents may now access the MyEd BC portal for up to date in-

formaon on their child (see a:ached le:er for details)

Div. 6-9 will be parcipang in the Prince

George Heritage Fair this Spring on May 1st.

We will have a school Fair during the week

prior to the regional fair for parents to a:end.

Girls and Boys Grade 6 & 7 Basketball is starting!

Look for notices and event dates.

Good Luck to both teams for the upcoming season and thanks to staff for making this event

possible. Please be aware that team sponsors cannot be responsible for younger siblings

during pracces and games. Schedules will be provided so planning for mely pickups and

sibling care can be prearranged. Thanks to Mr. Ponto, Mrs. Young for sponsoring our teams!

Games Days have returned….

Each division will have a day each week when they are

able to choose games and puzzles as a lunch me acvity

instead of going outside. If you have unused games or

puzzles that you would like to donate to the library we

would be happy to put them to good use.

Prior to the break students in grade 4 and 7 took

home the results of the Foundaon Skills

Assessment. This Provincial Assessment provide

informaon on how students are doing in relaon

to others in the province on the curriculum skills

and goals. While this snapshot is helpful in

providing feedback, it is by no means the only

gauge of academic performance. Teachers will

connue to provide mely and ongoing feedback to

families. If you did not receive this prior to

Christmas please contact the office.

FSA

Satisfaction Surveys

The student and parents in grade 4 and 7 as well as staff

will be asked to parcipate in an online survey regarding

their experiences and interacons at school. This survey

provides valuable informaon to schools that helps to

drive the implementaon of programs and services. Please

look for informaon coming home on how to access this

survey in the coming weeks.
