he 34th Annual General Meeting of the Vancouver MSBCA made history. It saw a good turn-out of members at noon on Saturday, Sep-tember 18, 2010. Although the number was smaller than the last two AGM‟s turn-out, those present did not show a lack of passion for the Association. Continue on page 8 >>>

Dear Members,
t is with mixed feelings that I am back as President for the second time, exactly after 12 long years.
Please let me take this opportunity to thank every one of you for your confi-dence in me and give me the privilege to lead the Board again. A warm and sincere welcome to the rest of the membership into our fold.
MSBCA belongs to no one individual but to all the members. We may not please every one, but we will do our best to operate the clubhouse to benefit all members.
You are the foundation of the Association. Without your contribution in term of time and money, we will never be able to function successfully as a big family. The achievements of our Association go to all the members.
My special thanks to all the Past Presidents and their Boards of Directors for contributing their precious time to build, maintain and run the Associa-tion in big or small ways.
My vision is to see the clubhouse be put to good use for the members, their families and friends. This is a new Board and I have already received good input from some of our Directors who are not only willing, but also enthusiastic about bringing the Association to a new level.
My thanks also go to our Vice President ( Malaysia ) M. J. Yong, who im-mediately sets to work writing, editing and designing our new printed mate-rials. Our New Year`s Eve Dinner Gala tickets are on sale now. Our news-letter carries a new name - NEWSFLASH. Our flyers for both our tradi-tional Children`s Christmas Party and our New Year`s Eve Dinner Gala are on the way to you. These are the beginning of our work this year. You defi-nitely have to come back and judge for yourselves.
Membership is the life-line of our Association. I, therefore appeal to every member to each bring in a new member. Also, encourage your children to participate actively in all our programmes and functions. Your children are our future.
To make this an eventful and exciting one during my term as President, I need the support of every one of you. The Board of Directors and I will be organizing programmes and functions for you to participate as volunteers, participants or attendees. These programmes and functions are organized foremost for you and your children. Relatives and friends are always wel-comed.
To the 34th Board of Directors, my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you! Yours truly,
Miew-Leng Teo

Picture-story in the next NEWSFLASH !
>>> from Page 1. For the first time, a record number of 20 nominations were ac-cepted to vie for the 10 Honorary Directors‟ posts. This turn of event is remarkable because there had been Annual General Meetings when it was hard to fill the ten posts.
This AGM is a landmark in itself. Eight of those elected to the 34th Board are past Board members. Miew-Leng Teo was Presi-dent of MSBCA 12 years ago and Wen Wong had sat on a past board. Six returned from the 33rd Board. They are Engineer John Ting, Christopher Chung, Stanley Low, S. K. Chin, Sunny Loo and professional accountant Rosemary Lai. The two new faces are Raymond Tang and Marlene J. Yong.
Dubbed as one of two “new-blood” on the Board, Raymond is a Richmond-based business graduate. An entrepreneur, Raymond has been a volunteer instructor who leads our Wednesday group to exercise in the tradition of the Yang-style Tai Chi. He has been an MSBCA volunteer for the last three years.
On weekends, Raymond goes hiking with members of other char-ity organisations.
Raymond has been charged with taking care of the MSBCA Clubhouse: its rentals and janitorial matters. He will also look into new income possibilities for the Clubhouse. His dream for MSBCA is to activate a youth section within MSBCA.
MJ, a Life-member of MSBCA, is a regular at Clubhouse activi-ties. She said her blood is “older than the mountains”, when asked about how she feels to be one of two “new-blood” on the Board.
