On Monday, the Prep building was filled with the excited chatter of the children as they headed out for their first big excursion, to Myuna Farm.
The students have been learning about life on a farm, so this excur-sion provides them with a wonder-ful chance to experience farm life, first hand.
After the first exciting trip on the bus to the farm, the Preps then enjoyed riding around on the train taking them through different are-as of the farm, as well as seeing animals up close that they have never experienced before - like the Water Buffalo.
A huge hit with the children, as always, was the chance to pat the rabbits and guinea pigs.
Feeding the sheep, goats and cows provided more entertainment with the squeals of delighted children, ringing out!
On the return bus trip, the chil-dren noisily recounted the days adventure that they had experi-enced. No doubt this will be an excursion that will never be forgotten by the students.
At the end of the day there were some particularly tired children - as well as some ex-hausted teachers!
We cant wait to read all about their excursion in the coming weeks work.
2017 Book Fair After the Book Fair’s delayed start date due to unforeseen circumstances, it has been going from strength to strength during the past couple of days.
The children have been flocking to the Book Fair to browse the books as well as purchasing posters, pencils and eras-ers.
There are still a lot of bargains to be had, so don’t forget to attend the Book Fair which will be at DNPS until Thursday afternoon.

Monday morning assembly is always a wonderful way to start the week - celebrating student achievement and progress.
Whilst this is a great time to hear about individu-als, we are finding the larger student population and small hall conditions an unfavourable combi-nation.
Mr Lodge, Dandenong North’s Welfare and At-tendance Officer was once again speaking about the importance of attending school and the pleas-ing attendance record for Term 1 during Monday’s Assembly. Research suggests that if children miss twenty days or more of a school year, then this will have a major impact upon their learning.
Throughout term one, 40% of children attended school eve-ryday! This is the best Term 1 result since Mr Lodge has been calculating the attend-ance figures.
Mr Lodge presents the Biggles Award to the class from Years 1 to 6 with the most students who attended 100% of the time. In Term One 6C won this award with 62% of chil-dren attending 100% of the time.
83% of children achieved a good attendance rec-
ord for the term (less than five days absent for the term). The Buddy Award was presented to both 4N and 5S as they achieved the best good attendance for the term, with 96% of students in both clas-ses missing less than 5 days of school in Term One
The Algie award is given to the best year level attendance and with a record 91% - the Year 4’s were awarded with this.
Congratulations to all students who achieved 100% attendance for Term One!
Scelina from 6C holdsBiggles - for achieving the best class 100% attend-ance record.
Siyana & Joey from 4N, proudly hold Buddy - there award for equal best good attendance with 5S.
With this in mind we have decided to rotate the awards around presenting the Years 1 to 3 one week and then the Year 4s to 6s the fol-lowing week.
Congratulations to the Special Award winners over the past two weeks:

We have had a number of ill children in the office over the last couple of weeks and there have been a number of calls made to parents to collect them. However some of the contact numbers have not been up to date - leaving unwell children at school.
We understand that throughout the year phone numbers and addresses change - and it is im-portant that we get all new details given to the school office as soon as possible.
Therefore we need our parents to inform the office of any changes to personal details - most importantly phone contact and address details as soon as they change.
Information Update
We appreciate your assistance in this matter by contacting the school office as soon as possible with this updated information.

New Surface for Woodlee Street Playground
Grassports have been busily working to resurface the play-ground at Woodlee Street.
This playground is a high traf-fic area as the students play on the equipment as well as run around playing tiggy and as a result the grass area had been split and sagging in a number of places.
School Council decided that it was worthwhile repairing this area as the students thoroughly enjoy playing here.
Therefore Grassports began the
works during the school hol-idays and not surprisingly it takes a lot of ground prepa-ration before the synthetic turf can be laid.
The soft springs underfoot also needed repairing - mak-ing it a big job to complete!
Unfortunately the Wintry weather has held up the completion of this works, and it is hopeful that it will be finished this week.
