Hong Kong has plentiful nice places to travel around. Recently added to the list is the Bounty – a European 42-meter antique tall ship replica. The Bounty is a rep-lica of the H.M.A.V. Bounty built in 1787 by the British Admiralty under the order of King George III.

香港好去處多不勝數，最近又多了一個新景點，她正是一艘42米長的歐洲高桅仿古帆船 ─ the Bounty「濟民號」。「濟民號」為1787年喬治大帝三世下令英國海軍建造的 H.M.A.V. Bounty之復刻版。

干邑是法國的象徵。您可知道干邑是上等佳釀的尊稱，並只在法國特定的地區才可找到？喜愛杯中物的讀者，千萬不要錯過今期「D Travel」。「D Travel」將會帶您去到法國頂級的釀酒區，展開別開生面的干邑之旅，窺探一下干邑的製造過程。

Welcome to the fifth issue of D Magazine – the lifestyle magazine for Discovery Bay residents.

It has been two very busy months in Discovery Bay! Not only were

there lots of activities, but we also welcomed a new arrival - the Bounty to Discovery Bay. The three-masted European tall ship replica will definitely become a new landmark in Discovery Bay and will further enhance the lei-sure attractions of the area.

“Cognac” is a symbol of France. Did you know “Cognac” is a name

specifically for premium wines and is only found in a certain area in France? For those who like quality liquor, “D Travel” will take you on an extraordinary tour to the top wineries in France to look at the production of Cognac.

France’s leisure lifestyle is as attractive as you can imagine. Living in a

hectic city like Hong Kong, one is often under incredible pressure and stress. Dr Fong warns us how stress can lead to weight gain. He also gives us tips on relieving stress. Turn to “D Health” for more details.

Road safety remains one of our primary concerns, and following a traf-fic accident in Discovery Bay recently, I sincerely urge everyone to exercise proper due care when crossing the road.

Ship’s bell – Unlike civil clock bells, the strikes of the bell do not accord to the number of the hour to tell time. Instead, ship’s bell is used to remind the crew to go on duty. Different num-ber of strikes indicate various watches and in the last watch, the ship bell will be struck eight times as a way of saying a crew’s watch is over.

船鐘— 有別於一般岸上用的時鐘，船鐘響起的次數並非為報時。船鐘的用途是提醒船員換更，每次船鐘響起的次數代表不同的更份，在最後的更份，船鐘會響起八次，表示該段工作已完結。

Steering Wheel – Also called the helm, it is to control the direction of a ship by adjusting the angle of the rudder. Turning right on the wheel would result in the rudder turning left and the ship will be heading right.

舵輪 — 作用是控制船舵的角度，以控制船隻的航向。當向右轉動舵輪，船舵便會左轉，而船隻則會右轉。

This star ship’s arrival in Hong Kong not only enables us to witness a certain period of history, but also serves as an ambassador of charity. Charity Open Days of the Bounty were held from last December to early January this year, when the public was welcome to board and view the ship at Pier 3, Central and Discovery Bay Pier. Many parents brought along their children to visit her. Funds raised from this event will be donated to

Children’s Cancer Foundation to help the children in need.

Apart from being a brand new tourist attrac-tion, the Bounty also has an important role to play in promoting tourism in Hong Kong. Having sailed around the world, the Bounty visited Hong Kong for the first time. In the past 20 years, the Bounty has travelled to Los Angeles, Vancouver, Australia and the South Pacific. Also, she has carried

up to 35,000 passengers per year for the past decade, and berthed in some of the world’s most beautiful harbours. Therefore, the Bounty attracts crowds of tourists whenever she appears. Now docked at Discovery Bay, she has also attracted tourists from around the world. It is believed that like the traditional Chinese junk “Duk Ling”, the Bounty will soon become another tourist icon of Hong Kong, adding colours to the Victoria

Harbour, and highlighting the characteristics of our metropolitan city where east meets west.

「濟民號」於中環三號碼頭及愉景灣碼頭舉行「濟民號」慈善開放日，讓公眾登船

「濟民號」。是次活動的收益會撥捐「兒童

癌病基金」作慈善用途，幫助有需要的小

朋友。「濟民號」的出現除了為我們提供另一嶄

新的旅遊觀光景點，更有助推動香港的旅遊業，因足跡遍佈世界的「濟民號」是首次來港，其在過去的20年，先後到過洛杉磯、

溫哥華、澳洲和南太平洋。而在過去十年，

「濟民號」每年載客量約35,000人次，並停泊於多個美麗的港口，故此每當她出現時均吸引大量遊客，現在她進駐美麗的愉景灣，亦吸引了不少各地遊客，相信她會繼中國漁船

Masts – A mast of a sailing ship is a vertical pole which supports the sails. A larger ship would have several masts allowing it to have more sails to increase the propulsion. There are three masts on the Bounty: the Fore Mast, the Main Mast, and the Mizzen Mast. Each mast has three sections: the Lower Mast, the Top Mast, and the Topgallant Mast.

桅杆 — 桅杆垂直立於船身，用以支撐船帆。一艘體積較大的帆船會有數支桅杆，以讓船隻架起更多的船帆，增加推動力。

Sails – Sails are propulsion systems on a sailing ship, which are set to trap the air as they flow by and provide energy to propel a ship. There are several types of sails on the Bounty. These are Square Sails, Staysails, Driver and Jib. Each sail is named according to where they are on the mast or what stay they run on.

帆 — 帆是帆船的動力來源，用以抓住

「正在流動的風勢」以為船隻提供推動力。

「濟民號」設有多種不同的帆，包括方帆、支索帆、驅動帆和三角帆。每隻帆的名稱是依據其在桅杆上的位置而定。

Armament – Although the Bounty was a trading ship, she was armed with four short-carriage four-pounders and ten half-pounder swivel guns in order to defend herself from pirates’ attack.

武裝 —「濟民號」雖為商船，但設有四門短架四磅大炮，以及十門半磅迴旋炮以防禦海盜襲擊。

figurehead – This carved wooden decoration, often female or bestial, was to indicate the name of the ship in a non-literate society dur-ing the 16-19th Centuries, and to demonstrate the wealth and might of the owner.

No wine-lover can resist visiting a French top wine-producing region. Bordeaux, Burgundy or the French Cognac regions are worthy of a pilgrimage. Let us visit the largest and most unique Cognac region in the world, and also go to the Remy V.S.O.P. Cognac factory to experience the French liquor philosophy and Cognac culture.

前往法國一級釀酒區作親身體驗，是每位饗酒之士所嚮往的。無論是波爾多、布根地，或法國的干邑區，都是值得朝拜之地。讓我們親訪全球獨一無二的大香檳區，再到人頭馬干邑廠參觀，學習法國的烈酒哲學及干邑文化。

CognaC Culture法國干邑文化之旅

StaRtINg the PILgRImage Cognac must be made from at least 90%

Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, or Colombard grapes so the Ugni Blanc grapes are the most impor-tant. I took the TGV to the Cognac region, then drove to the Remy Martin Club in Cognac Town. The Remy Martin Club is an old sallow coloured tall building which is both imposing and beautiful. After entering the building, the waiter brought over a cocktail glass of V.S.O.P. and ginger ale. It was velvety in texture and the scent of the wine still retained a light scent of jasmine; the golden colour immediately lit up the gloomy sitting room.

COgNaC OF DIStINCtIONChateau de L’Yeuse, the number one hotel in

the Cognac region, is the best place to stay. It is located on the Charente riverside on the hill con-nected to the Cognac region and offers a stun-ningly beautiful horizon, which looks like something from a poem or a painting. Visiting the wine cellar is no doubt one of the fascinating highlights. The staff explained clearly about the Cognac area, which is located in the southwest France. Since the world’s top brandy originates in this part of France, the French Government wants to ensure its high quality, so that the brandy produced, is worthy of being called “Cognac”. Only the wine produced in this specified area can be labeled as “Cognac”.

A law was passed in 1901 by the French

Government to clearly distinguish the scope of the Cognac area and divided it into six growth areas according to the type of soil and climate. The six crus are, in order of decreasing appreciation of the Cognacs coming from them: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fins Bois, Bons Bois, and Bois Ordinaires. Petite Champagne and Grande Champagne have the best quality of grapes, especially the Grande Champagne because its soil is chalky and alkaline which pro-duces unique grapes. Also Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne grapes produce such rare and precious wine named “Cognac” thanks to the warm temperate marine climate, abundant sunshine and more than a 100 years-heritage of Cognac making skills.

Next morning, I pay a visit to a Master of Wine, Vincent Gere. This very knowledgeable gentleman is very eloquent about Brandy. He told us about the three main steps to tasting Brandy and the secret of brandy blending which is depen-dent on the taste buds of the blender. Cognac is made from eaux-de-vie (literally, “waters of life”) produced by doubly distilling the white wines pro-duced in any of the growth areas. Each Cognac house has a master taster (maître de chai) who is responsible for creating this delicate blend of spirits, so that the Cognac produced by a com-pany today will taste almost exactly the same as a Cognac produced by that same company 50 years ago, or in 50 years’ time. The master taster is considered the figurehead of the Cognac house and is accorded much courtesy and respect. If

their tasting and smell is inaccurate, the quality of Cognac will be poor and distasteful.

After my visit, I deeply immerse myself in the atmosphere of the Cognac house for a long time. The proverb, “Wine is not what causes you to get drunk” has a certain truth. My trip to the vineyard was fascinating and very memorable.

「人頭馬酒莊俱樂部」是一幢古舊的建築，牆身灰黃，高聳軒敞，充滿著古典味。甫入屋內，侍者便奉上一杯用人頭馬V.S.O.P.與薑啤調製的飲料，醇和之中不掩酒香，且有淡淡的茉莉花香，色澤金黃，讓晦暗的大廳頓顯光采。

干邑區分筆者下榻之處為干邑區頂級旅館

Chateau de L'Yeuse（即「橡木林莊園」）。此旅館位於貫串干邑區的夏朗德（Cherente）河畔的小山丘上，視野廣闊開揚，蕭疏清幽，美如詩畫。參觀酒庫無疑是引人入勝的重頭戲之一。工作人員仔細地解釋法國西南部干邑區的區分。因為世界上最頂級的白蘭地酒皆源於此地，法國政府為確保其

Distillation of top quality grapes grande Champagne and Petite Champagne are considered to make the best Cognac. 專用大、小香檳區的優質葡萄蒸餾後所釀出的原酒品質極佳，屬干邑之冠。

優良質素，特別為這地區生產的白蘭地酒冠名「干邑」，只有在法國干邑區出產的佳釀才可以「干邑」名義出售。

法國政府於1901年制定相關法令，明確界定干邑區的範圍，並依據其土壤及氣候的不同，再分成六個產區。其由外至內分別是普通林區、良質林區、優質林區、邊林區、小香檳區和大香檳區。而葡萄的品質以大、小香檳區最佳，大香檳區尤其受到推崇，因為該區土壤中的白堊土成分最高，泥土偏鹼性，能出產獨特的葡萄。

除土壤含豐富白堊質外，溫和舒適的海洋氣候、日照充足及傳承過百年的釀酒技術，都是令大、小香檳區出產的「干邑」被冠為稀世珍釀的原因。

翌晨，筆者拜訪對白蘭地甚有研究的品酒大師Vincent Gere，這位法國紳士滔滔不絕地暢談品味白蘭地酒的三大步驟及調配白蘭地酒的要訣。干邑是取原酒（或稱為「生命之水」）製成，任何地方釀製的白酒經過兩次蒸餾處理後，便會成為原酒。每一間酒廠都有一名調配師，專責將年份不

同、產區不同，但質素一樣的酒混合，令其混合出來的美酒品質如一，所以今天供應市場的干邑的味道能媲美五十年前的佳釀。而擔任調配的人，可算是酒廠的靈魂人物，備受禮待及尊崇。如果他們品味失準或嗅覺不夠敏銳，定會導致酒的質素下降，喪失市場競爭力。

It has been 25 years since the first resi-

dents moved into Discovery Bay. Did you know

the first phase of Discovery Bay was an award-

winning design?

The first phase of residential development,

Headland Village, Beach Village and Parkridge

Village, comprises 1,033 high-rise and low-rise

units ranging from 550 sq. ft. apartments to

3,000 sq. ft. detached houses. When it was put

on the market in August 1980, all units were sold

out within a few hours.

Due to immense popularity and innovative

design of the phase 1 development, the architects

won the Hong Kong Architectural Silver Medal

Award. By the time the first residents moved in in

late 1982, the infrastructure was in place and a

ferry service was established by the company to

transport residents to Central, Hong Kong.

Discovery Bay has always been a green town.

issues and actually won the Hong Kong Eco-

re-assessed and unnecessary lights were

removed. It was thought that a 30% reduction

Teenagers always have endless energy. The more difficulty they encounter, the braver they can become. They showed no fear even climbing up mountains. The “Kukri Junior Challenge 2007” was held in December 2007. There were 140 elite teams participating the competi-tion. A total of 340 teenagers joined the event. All the teenagers tried their best to take every single challenge of running, swimming, rock climbing, as well as waterfall rowing, cycling, other secret tests and adventure activities. Although they were soaked, they tried hard to forge ahead to break the record.

We all know that running is a healthy sport. Would that be meaningful if one can help raising fund for charity while run-ning? “The 3rd Discovery Bay 10K Run for Charity” was held under sunny weather on 9 December 2007. 180 participants started from DB Plaza to encircle Discovery Bay and finished at the DB pier near La Costa. A total of HK$70,680 was raised for the Playright Children’s Play Association.

眾所周知，跑步是一項有益身心的活動，若在跑步的同時又可以做善事，這不是來得更有意義嗎？剛於去年12月9日舉辦的第三屆愉景灣10公里慈善賽跑，便在風和日麗的天氣下舉行。當日180位參賽者，由愉景廣場環繞愉景灣一周，至愉景灣碼頭近海堤居為終點，各參賽的健兒均充滿鬥志，為做善事不遺餘力，努力地跑，為智樂兒童遊樂協會籌得港幣70,680元的善款，讓未來的主人翁也能擁有更豐盛的人生。

“Play hard, laugh hard” is definitely the best description for “Picnic in the Park”. All the DB residents who participated in the “Picnic in the Park” on 3 November 2007 fully enjoyed themselves and everyone spent a very joyful Sunday being entertained. No wonder the entire Central Park was crowded with people. There were more than 3,000 people joining the event, much more than expected.

Following the success of the debut event in 2006, “Picnic in the Park” has gained tremendous support from the residents, sponsors, traders and visitors. The organizer had a lot of performance in store for the andience, including singing, dancing, band and magic performances, creating a unique family day in Discovery Bay.

Discovery BayMulti-cultural Festival 2007 愉景國際嘉年華2007

Discovery Bay continued to offer fun programs throughout 2007. One of the most colorful events must be the Discovery Bay Multi-Cultural Festival 2007 which was held on 24 and 25 November at DB Plaza. This diverse variety act profiled several different cultural performances for residents and tourists. There were over 70 stalls that sold gourmet and folk crafts from all over the world so people could enjoy food, drinks and entertainment and experience the unique cultural diversity in Discovery Bay.

愉景灣精彩節目真是停不了，首推的年度盛事便是已於11月24及25日在愉景廣場舉行的

「愉景國際嘉年華2007」，這個集合了多元文化的綜藝活動，不但為居民及遊客帶來展現不同地方文化特色的多項表演，廣場內更設置了超過70個攤位，售賣各國地道美食及民族精品，可說是吃、喝、玩、樂兼備，讓大家體驗愉景灣獨特文化風情所帶來的無限驚喜。

Christmas Fun聖誕歡樂滿載

Still in holiday mood after Christmas? Don’t worry, it will soon be Chinese New Year! While we wait for the Chinese New Year program to start, let’s recap on the Christmas activities organized by City Management in 2007. Last month, there was a big Christmas celebration at DB Plaza. On two consecutive weekends, different performanc-es such as a big band concert, carol singing and exciting plays were staged in Discovery Bay, bring-ing fun and joy to all. Children definitely are the ones who enjoyed the festival the most! Besides various celebrations, Discovery Mind Kindergarten held two charity events during the Christmas sea-son – the “Operation Santa Claus” charity walk and the Christmas Charity Concert. No effort was spared in the interests of charity by the parents and children. They played a large part in contributing to the society by helping others.

Chinese New Year is approaching. Every year, City Management arranges special activities for DB residents. This year, the ‘God of Fortune’ will be found at DB Pier. Discovery Bay International School (DBIS) started with three students in 1983 and now has over 750 students. The school has been a vital element for the growth of Discovery Bay in the past 25 years.

愉景灣國際學校在愉景灣25年來的發展中的確佔一重要席位。該校於1983年成立之時只得3名學生；時至今日，該校已發展成為一所有超過750名學生的學校。

A comfortable environment inspires students

to think and learn. Located in Discovery Bay,

DBIS has pleasant surroundings with advanced

facilities. Discovery Bay residents are of different

nationalities and DBIS offers a harmonious atmo-

sphere for students to learn from each other. The

community school has been serving DB residents

for 25 years and the school premises have now

expanded up to its Phase 5. Can you imagine the

very first class in DBIS which took place in the

Residents Club with only three students?

“It was 24 January 1983, and DBIS was

born in the function room of the Residents Club,

and I was there!” said Connie Ting, one of the

veteran staff who has been with DBIS since

day one of the school. “For sure the support

was not as adequate as now but the teachers

and staff helped each other, doing everything

together,” said Connie, as she showed me the

old pictures and the old handmade year books.

It takes courage and vision to build a

school, especially in Discovery Bay 25 years

ago, and it was not easy. Connie has seen the

growth and pointed out the unbelievable differ-

ences between then and now.

Club to owning a campus, DBIS has gone from

strength to strength, expanding continuously

both in its hardware and also its software”

cessful, and Grant Ramsay, the Principal,

believes uniqueness is a major factor.

“DBIS is a local community based school.

We have focused strongly on the quality delivery

of education in reading, writing and mathematics

while adding a range of specialist teachers in

physical education, information and communi-

cation technologies (ICT), music and drama and

more recently in Mandarin.”

Furthermore, DBIS bases the teaching and

learning on the National Curriculum of England

and Wales, adapting it to meet the wide interna-

tional base of the student roll. This explains why

the school is

widely popular in Discovery Bay. As Mr Ramsay

said, “We continue to work to provide the very

best for families wanting a quality community

school education for their children – a unique

opportunity in Hong Kong.”

The FUTUre DeveLopmenT oF DBISDBIS will be extending classes to provide

for Years 7, 8 and 9. Year 7 classes will start at the

beginning of the 2008/09 school year, along with

the Opening of the Discovery Centre.

“The wide range of advanced facilities of

the Discovery Centre will bring DBIS into a new

era,” said Mr Ramsay.

The Discovery Centre will offer specialist

facilities for all primary and key stage 3 (Years

7, 8 and 9) students including a modern and

superbly stocked library, music and drama

suites along with practice rooms, an adjacent

performing arts facility, an art studio, a design

technology room, a science laboratory, two ICT

suites and a multi-media studio as well as a

gymnasium on the top floor.

“The past 25 years has been very successful.

While our second 25 years has yet to begin – the

planning and work for our most successful years

ahead are already in place and we all look forward

to extending our school to the next level.”

The school is organizing various exciting events to celebrate. The 25th celebration activities will last for one week starting 21 until 25 January. The climax of the celebration will definitely be the return of Miss Anne Marie Naughton (Former principal of DBIS who devoted 23 years to DBIS). The school is also encouraging parents to make cupcakes for all students and staff, which means around 870 cupcakes are needed! To add to the memorable event, different souvenirs would be available for sale.

景。尤其在25年前的愉景灣，創校並非易事。丁小姐25年來見證著愉景灣國際學校的成長，並指出該校今天跟從前的分別，當中的改變實在令人難以置信。

「由以住客會所作為上課地點到擁有自己的校園，愉景灣國際學校一直不斷努力改進，致力令其硬件及軟件更臻完善。」

獨特性是成功要素愉景灣國際學校得以成功，韋世君校

長相信，學校的獨特性正是其成功關鍵。「愉景灣國際學校是一間社區學校，

我們一直注重教學質素，尤其以讀寫及

數學為重。我們亦有老師專門教授體育、資訊科技、音樂、戲劇及普通話等專科教育。」

While road safety measures were being implemented, a traffic accident occurred on 29 November 2007. A student of SKH Wei Lun Primary School was hit by the number one bus when crossing the inter-section of Discovery Bay Road and Seabee Lane. Later in the afternoon, another resident while on his roller blades lost his balance outside SKH Wei Lun Primary School and injured himself.

Residents are reminded that observing road safety regulation is very important for your own safety and for the safety of others. Please look both ways before you cross a road. Wearing a safety helmet when on roller blades will only make roller skating less dangerous and more fun.

As mentioned in the third issue of D Magazine , DBSRA wants to realize Discovery Bay’s potential by giving suggestions on the sports and recreation facilities and activities that will best suit the needs’ of all DB resi-dents. With this mission and vision in mind, Mr Nixon is determined to bring new facilities to Discovery Bay including: a full size sports pitch, a roller hockey rink, a skate-park and a mountain bike course.

Mr Nixon was brought up in Montreal during the separatist campaign. Growing up in such an environment, Mr Nixon learnt the value of negotiation. He enjoys and values communication and is aware of the impor-tance of negotiation and dialogue. “While some people say we should ban skateboards in Discovery Bay, that obviously is not what the skateboarders want,” said Mr Nixon. “The solution is in the dialogue and DBSRA is attempting to provide the forum for solutions to be discussed so our community can contin-ue to flourish.” Resistance to change is always expected, but dialogue and communication could refine and consolidate ideas as well as find a way forward to an optimum solution.

DBSRA is not only concerned about the

needs of children and teenagers, the associa-tion is also considering activities and facilities for seniors. Mr Nixon believes that different activities and facilities could work well together if different member groups could come together and express their concerns. DBSRA is made up of members from churches, schools, sports groups and etc, and will continue to be an effective way to channel new ideas in improving recreational facilities in Discovery Bay. It is also important that we create the sports and recre-ational facilities and activities that people in the community want to enjoy.

在第三期《D Magazine》曾報道愉景灣體育康樂協會的宗旨是就有關愉景灣體育及康樂事務提供意見，務求為愉景灣帶來適合區內居民需要的體育及娛樂設施和活動，善用愉景灣的地理優勢。基於對愉景灣的使命感及願景，Peter Nixon決定為區內爭取更多設施，包括：一個正規運動場、滾軸溜冰場、滑板公園及越野單車場。

Peter Nixon在加拿大蒙特利爾長大，經歷過當時的獨立運動。正因如此，他非常明白溝通的重要性，更特別注重談判及對話。他說：「雖然一些人說愉景灣應禁止進行滑板活動，但這顯然不是區內滑板發燒友的意願。」他又指出：「問題的解決方法正正就在於對話，所以愉景灣體育康樂協會設法為各方提供一個討論平台，尋找解決方法，令我們的社區繼續發展及成長。」雖然反對聲音是意料之內，但惟有對話和溝通，才能使各方對問題有更確切的了解，凝聚共識。

愉景灣體育康樂協會不但關注兒童及青少年的需要，更考慮到為長者而設的各種康樂設施。Peter Nixon相信只要不同團體聚在一起，坦誠表達意見，區內各項設施和活動就能平衡發展。協會由區內教會、學校及體育團體等組成，並且致力成為一個有效的交流及溝通渠道，令區內的康樂設施不但能夠得以完善，且更會創建更多造福居民的新設施。

ObesIty InDuceD by stress Is harD tO lOse

Living in a city like hong Kong, we are under

pressure constantly from work and family. though

stress does not seem to have a direct impact

on our health, it can trigger lots of health problem

in a long run. Dr samson Fong of healthway

Medical centres Ltd. said, “health problems

related to stress not only include muscle pain,

gastroesophageal reflux, headache, sexual

dysfunction and psychiatric disorders, but also

the hormones produced by the body in response

to stress.

in response to chronic stress, stimulation

of the hyhpothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (hPA) axis

could result in the body to be in excess steroid

exposure, which has been suggested to be related

to central obesity. Ghrelin is another hormone that

has been shown to be increased after stress. it is a

hormone secreted by the stomach cells that could

stimulate appetite and could secretion of growth

hormone. it could also promote

steroid release. Leptin is con-

sidered to be the counterpart of

ghrelin. it is secreted by the fat

cells. it reduces appetite and

can regulate our body weight.”

Also, stress may affect

our eating behaviour to eat

more than we actually need,

and this could also contribute

to obesity. therefore, it would

be futile if one only relies on

weight reduction method such as dieting and

exercise for the central obesity, without consider-

ing the role of stress management in this aspect.

be the result of the hormones, Also, some people

would consider satisfying their appetite is a good

way to reward themselves for their hard work.

Eventually, our habits are utterly changed and the

manage our stress properly is important to bring our

body and lives back to normal.”

stress, Dr Fong has suggested the following ways

of stress management so that central obesity

induced by stress could be prevented.

壓力脂肪易有難減都市人每天面對不同的工作、家庭及

生活壓力，雖然壓力對健康沒有造成直接的影響，但是久而久之也有機會誘發許多毛病。健維醫療中心有限公司的方日旭醫生表示：「因壓力造成的健康問題，除了肌肉痛、胃酸倒流、偏頭痛、性功能失調及精神問題等毛病外，還有因身體對壓力刺激而產生的荷爾蒙。

面對壓力，下丘腦腦下垂體會分泌出大量皮質醇，有研究指出此類類固醇會引至中央肥胖。Ghrelin是其中一種會在壓力下增加的荷爾蒙，Ghrelin是由胃細胞分泌出來，不但會刺激胃口，令人食慾增加，更會激發生長荷爾蒙及皮質醇分泌。最終不但令體重增加，更會令腰間積聚大量脂肪，產生壓力脂肪，形成中央肥胖症。Leptin的效果卻完全相反。Leptin由脂肪細胞分泌出來，因為會令人食慾下降。壓力下體重不斷下降，便是基於這個原因了。」

此外，壓力更會使我們過量進食，令身體更易積聚壓力脂肪。這種脂肪比一般的脂肪難去除，如果我們不減輕生活壓力，而單靠節食與做運動等一般的減肥方法，就好比處理泛濫的洪水卻不去修築水壩，完全無濟於事。

改變正常生活習慣壓力的出現，會使人在不自覺的情

況下改變飲食及生活習慣，方醫生續稱：

「過量進食一方面是由荷爾蒙造成，但有些人更抱著工作過勞，壓力又大，所以便以吃喝來滿足口腹的心態，認為這是善待自己的好方法，最終令本是正常規律的生活習慣徹底改變，亦令身體增加了難以纖滅的壓力脂肪。只有懂得壓力處理，才能令身體及生活回到正軌。」

提供了幾種減壓良方，讓大家消除由高壓而養成的嗜吃習慣，避免形成中央

taKe Deep breathsWhen you feel stressed, close your eyes and

take three deep breaths. this helps alleviate any

pressure.

suffIcIent sleepstress will increase your appetite, while sleep

lessens it. sufficient sleep not only aids the metab-

olism, but also lifts your spirits and makes you feel

cheerful.

量力而為正所謂：「事不關已，已不勞心。」不論是私事或

是公事也好，若與你無關，不要逞強，而且應要

學懂放手，若果背負太多包袱，最終辛苦的只會

是自己。

學習說不必須要學習拒絕別人，若別人凡有事相求，你都

有求必應，這樣只會增加了自已的壓力。

積極思想處理任何事情，都應正面地看，因為不斷從

負面觀點出法，只會令自已轉牛角尖，從而產生

壓力。

時間管理要學懂好好的管理時間及分配時間，如工作一段

時間便要休息10至15分鐘，亦可以間中放下工作

稍作休息，盡量放鬆心情。

適量運動每天不妨抽30分鐘時間做運動，即使是步行30分

鐘亦有助紓緩緊張的心情。

深呼吸當感到有壓力時，閉上眼睛深呼吸3次，有助紓緩

壓力。

充足睡眠壓力會令人增加食慾，而睡眠則會減弱它。充足

的睡眠，不但有助新陳代謝，更會令人精神飽

滿，心境也會份外開朗。

1月27日正式投入服務，新系統將可為區內居民帶來多項好處，並改善服務效率和簡化程序。

應用於愉景灣之渡輪服務的新系統採用了非接觸式智能卡技術，乘客只須將

This is to replace the existing magnetic ticketing system, which has been used for over 15 years.
