There are two parishes in the Kilburn Area which are cared for by the members of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, (OMI) a congregation founded in France in 1816 by St Eugene de Mazenod (1782-1861). It is a celebration of Christ as the light to nations. The Easter Candle is a reminder that light is with us. It is a candle marked with five nails to carry Christ's wounds. It is a light that has been passed on for 2000 years, at all baptism celebrations, parents are handed a candle with the words “Keep the light of faith alive in your hearts” 2. Today’s Gospel has the Night Prayer of God’s People in it, said by the old man Simeon. “At last all powerful Master, you give leave to your servant to go in peace according to your promise” Peace of the Lord is a gift. A nurse who worked in Palliative care records the biggest regret of the dying in her experience:- 1. Not Being true to myself 2. Working too hard 3. Not having expressed my feelings. 4. Losing touch with friends 5. Not having allowed myself to be happier LOURDES NOVENA The Lourdes Novena will be from 2nd—11th February. The times are 7pm on Sundays and 6pm on Saturday which will be included in the Mass. During the week the times will be 7.30pm. All are welcome to attend. This includes those that work in hospitals, care and nursing homes, Eucharistic Ministers that bring Communion to the sick and the housebound and all those that care for their loved ones. Novena To Our Lady of Lourdes O Mary you who appeared to Bernadette in the hollow of the rock, in the cold and shadow of winter, you brought the warmth of a presence, the friendship of a smile, the light and beauty of grace. In the hollow of our often obscure lives, in the hollow of this world where evil is strong, bring hope, give more trust. You who said to Bernadette ‘I am the Immaculate Conception’ come to help us, sinners. Give us the courage of conversion, the humility of penitence and the perseverance of praying for sinners, that we are. We confide to you all whom we carry in our heart and especially the sick and those who have lost hope, you who are ‘Our Lady of Good Help’. You who guided Bernadette to discover the spring, guide us towards Him who is the source of eternal life, He who gave us the Holy Spirit so that we can dare say: Our Father……………………………..Hail Mary……………………………... Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us. St Bernadette, pray for us. It has articles on various themes from prayer, self esteem, bulimia, forgiveness to film resources. (Recommended by Fr. Michael)

CRECHE This week will be Team C. For further information please speak with Chris Kolade 07958 741133. OBLATE YOUTH SERVICE PRESENTS—THE SONG OF BERNADETTE To tie in with the Lourdes Novena, the Oblate Youth Service are showing ‘The Song of Bernadette’ on Saturday 8

th February in the Hall at Quex Road. Light refreshments will be served

from 14:45, followed by an introduction talk by Fr. Paschal Dillon, OMI with the film shown afterwards finishing up in time for the 6pm Novena Mass. All monies raised on the day will go towards supporting the OMI Lourdes Pilgrimage.

LENTEN RETREAT 2014 “Come then, and learn what you are in the eyes of God!... You are co-heirs of His eternal Kingdom.” This quote is from the founder of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, St. Eugene De Mazenod ‘s first Lenten sermon. St. Eugene invited people to learn who they were in the sight of God. You, too, are invited to come and discover more insights from this Madeleine sermon and find new ways to enrich your spiritual life. This retreat will be facilitated by Mary Tyrrell and Kirk Jacob from the Partners in Mission team. It will take place on Sunday, 30

th March from 2pm – 5pm in

the Parish Community Centre. Tea & Coffee will be provided.

150TH CELEBRATION OF THE PARISH Thank you to all those who have given their names to form the committee for the 150th Celebrations of the Oblate Congregation in the Parish. If you have a particular interest in any aspect of the Parish, please feel free to also join the committee. A representative from the Parish Council will be contacting those on the list shortly to arrange the first planning meeting. New members are still welcome.
