The NZ Country Music Awards is a gala event where the winners of the MLT NZ Songwriting Award, the APRA Best Country Song and the Recorded Music NZ Best Country Artist are announced.Walk the red carpet, enjoy live performances by the finalists, and entertainment from special guests Southland’s Lachie Hayes, and Luke O’Shea from Australia.

7 I Signature Event

Literally New Zealand’s coolest busking competition. Buskers compete in freezing temperatures, but making the sacrifice worthwhile is more than $3000 in prize money, including two prizes of $1000 each.

The best buskers are invited to perform at the finals and street party on Saturday afternoon. With outdoor heaters, mulled wine, oysters, and a BBQ available, you’ll be kept toasty.

Now in its 46th year, this is the event that saw Gore titled ‘NZ Capital of Country Music’. Every year amateur country musicians from all over New Zealand come to Gore to compete for the coveted Gold Guitar title.Watch the auditions or save yourself for the main events – the junior and senior finals. It’s three days of hard core country music.

Gore country music queen gala crowningThe gala crowing evening for the Gore Country Music Queen title, with live music and a guest speaker. The winner will travel to the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January 2020 as an official representative of the Gore Country Music Club.

motorhomers’ potluck dinnerGore is a motorhome friendly town and it’s popular for campers to park up at the Gore A&P Showgrounds, or the Gore Town & Country Club. It has become tradition for those staying to get together for a potluck dinner during the festival. Musicians are often among them, so it can be quite a social event with a tune or two. Gore country music club Walkup concertPut your name on the blackboard and wait your turn to perform or come along for a listen. It’s as simple as that at this informal walk up concert. A full band is available ready to back anyone who wants to take part. This event includes a tree planting ceremony acknowledging Gore’s sister city relationship with Tamworth.
