Welcome to the installation and execution of Samsung New PC Studio

This manual will guide you through the installation of Samsung New PC Studio.

Step 1: Download Samsung New PC Studio

(If you have purchased a Samsung mobile phone and there is already a version of Samsung New PC Studio on the CD please skip this step.)

Download the application from the Samsung Mobile Website.

Step 2: Installation of the program

Click on the execution file of SAMSUNG New PC Studio either which you have downloaded from the Samsung mobile website or which is on the CD enclosed to your Samsung product package.

Choose the language which you want to use while installing SAMSUNG New PC Studio.

Choose your country which you are located in.



Please read the licensing agreement and accept it. Choose your destination folder in which you want to install the program.

If there is no destination folder chosen the program will be automatically installed in C:\Programs\Samsung\Samsung New PC Studio.

Please restart your PC after a successful installation.

Step 3: First steps in SAMSUNG New PC Studio

Please execute SAMSUNG New PC Studio.



SAMSUNG New PC Studio

1) Introduction and description of the icons:

My Computer:

In the workstation you can manage and execute your folders and files which are stored on your PC.

Search device:

Searches a device connected to the PC and connects it to Samsung New PC Studio.

Mobile phone:

This icon will be only displayed if there is a device connected with Samsung New PC Studio through USB data link cable or Bluetooth.

Web:

Drag & drop a multimedia file onto the icon to send it to the website.

Toolbox:

This is where all programs used in stage are gathered. Click on a program to use or drag & drop it onto the stage.

Communicator:

This icon provides functions related to communication.

Organizer:

This icon provides functions related to schedule.

Media manager:

This provides playback functions for video, music and photo files.



Add User stage:

This icon will add a new user stage.

Member area:

This is your own stage, which provides personal information management and multimedia functions.

2) My Computer:

The workspace will be familiar to you. It has the same design as Windows Explorer. In the workspace you can find all your documents and folders which can be moved or copied to your mobile phone.

You can also move or copy your files from your mobile phone to your PC.

3) Search device:

With this function you can search for devices. If you have your mobile phone connected through an USB data link cable it will be detected automatically.

If your mobile phone is not detected automatically you are able to search for your device manually through USB or Bluetooth.

After a short searching process all your devices will be listed in the connection assistant. In the connection settings you can also choose from which connection type you want to search. This might shorten the search process.



4) Device found:

After a successful search you are able to have access to the files which are stored on your mobile phone. If you still can’t find your device please ensure that your mobile phone is set to “Samsung PC Studio“. To check your settings please go to Settings � Phone settings � PC connection “Samsung PC Studio“. (Please consider that the content and description may vary from model to model.)

Connection through Bluetooth:

Please choose your mobile phone via connection through Bluetooth. Therefore Samsung New PC Studio will request for a four-digit number. The same four-digit number should be entered in your mobile phone to accept the connection. The four-digit number is a security precaution to prevent misuse.

To cancel the connection between your mobile phone and Samsung New PC Studio press the cross which is shown on the right corner of the icon.

Otherwise please right-click on the phone icon and choose “Eject connection to device“. Furthermore you are able to

change the name of your mobile phone. If you need help regarding to this topic please use the assistant who will guide you.



5) To Web:

To use this application please accept the licensing agreement.

If you don’t have a Flickr account you are now able to create one.

6) Toolbox:

In the toolbox you will find all applications which you will need to create an image of your mobile phone on your PC.

You can synchronize and store all your phone contacts in Samsung New PC Studio. If you have your contacts stored on your SIM card you are also able to import and synchronize them using the SIM-phonebook.

Right-click on a contact from your SIM card to edit it. A menu will be displayed which provides you a lot of personalization opportunities.

With the Internet Connector you are able to browse the World Wide Web.

In order to do so please ensure that your phone supports this function (for more information please visit the Samsung mobile website).

What is Flickr?

Flickr is an image and video hosting website, web services suite, and online community platform. In addition to being a popular Web site for users to share personal photographs, the service is widely used by bloggers as a photo repository.



Using the Message Manager all your messages are sorted and listed in categories like an E-Mail application. Just save your SMS or MMS messages if they are important to you.

SAMSUNG New PC Studio provides also the feature to compose your SMS or MMS. Those messages will be sent through your mobile phone.

With the E-Mail synchronization function you are able to read, compose or save your mails anytime. To do so please ensure that your mobile phone provides this function. Furthermore Samsung New PC Studio also provides a scheduler, a To Do list and an event list which is called D-Day.

If your mobile phone provides those functions you can easily synchronize all your appointment with Samsung New PC Studio (for more information please visit your Samsung mobile website). Please ensure that you have chosen the right phone model if you are using more than one Samsung mobile phone. Right-click on the scheduler and choose Sync-Settings. Choose your phone model from the list. To delete an appointment please choose the “Overall view“. There you can find all your appointment listed. Just Right-click on that appointment to delete it.

7) Communicator:

After the launch of SAMSUNG New PC Studio the communicator will be started automatically. The communicator contains your phone book in which all your contacts are stored. Synchronize all your contacts with SAMSUNG New PC Studio to gain fast access to all your contacts using your PC.



8) Organizer:

In the Organizer you have the scheduler and the To Do list which you already know from the Toolbox. Furthermore you are able to compose and save notes. Synchronize all your files to have them ready to use wherever you are.

9) Media Manager:

The Media Manager is split in three categories (Music, photo and video)

Music category:

In the category music you can play all your mp3 music files. You are also able to create playlists so sort all your favorite songs. Furthermore you can search this category by release date, genre and artist.

To add mp3 music file to the Media Manager choose your music file from your PC or mobile phone and drag & drop it into the Media Manager. The file will be added automatically.

Photo category:

In the category photo you can view your photos sorted by time of creation, key word or preference. Furthermore you are able to create a album to save all your favourite photos. To copy a photo to the Media Manager just open your photo folder on your mobile phone or PC and drag & drop it into the Media Manager. The photo will be added automatically.



Video category:

In the category video you are able to add video files from your PC or mobile phone to the Media Player. To do so just choose your video file from your PC or mobile phone and drag & drop it into the Media Manager. The file will be converted automatically. As you know from the other two categories you are also able sort your files by time, keyword and preference and create your own album.

10) User stage:

By clicking the button “Add user stage“ you can add a new user stage which you can also personalize yourself.

In this new user stage you can create shortcuts from the toolbox. Therefore drag your Shortcuts (e.g. Send SMS) from the Toolbox and drop them in the stage area. In this case you will have this function automatically opened every time when you click on the stage button.

11) Update:

With the Update button you can always be up to date. Just update your SAMSUNG New PC Studio Software. If there are any new updates regarding to phone software available you can update it using “Update device“.

Emergency recovery: With emergency recovery you can reset your mobile phone to factory settings. Caution: Using the recovery function all your data on the mobile phone will be deleted. Please ensure to have a backup of your phone.

12) Settings:

In Settings you are able to change the language, sound effects and the wallpapers. Furthermore you are able to manage your devices and initialize stages (in this case no files and programs will be deleted. Everything will just be reseted). You can find general settings for SAMSUNG New PC Studio in “Options“. (This Icon will only be displayed is you have clicked on “Add stage“ before. You can rename the stage which you have added.)



Troubleshooting 1. Unregistered Model:

If you are launching SAMSUNG New PC Studio or pluging in your mobile phone for the first time you have to register your device. Therefore SAMSUNG New PC Studio will automatically ask you whether to register it or not.

2. SAMSUNG New PC Studio doesn’t recognize my mobile phone:

If your device if not found please ensure that your mobile phone is set to “Samsung PC Studio“. To check your settings please go to Settings � Phone settings � PC connection “Samsung PC Studio“.

3. I can’t open my files:

Please ensure that the file is either corrupted nor a system file. Please consider that system files can’t be open by SAMSUNG New PC Studio. Therefore an error will be displayed.

4. I can’t connect my mobile phone with SAMSUNG New PC Studio using Bluetooth:

1) Please ensure that your mobile phone is turned on. 2) Please activate Bluetooth on your mobile phone. 3) Open “Search device“ in your SAMUNG New PC Studio and choose your device.

New PC Studio notices that my mobile phone is not in Idle mode.

1) Mobile phone: Please go back to the start menu. 2) Please wait until your mobile phone goes Standby. 3) Please try to reconnect your phone. 4) Accept your connection.
