total oil production in the basin. The Permian Basin accounts for
approximately 16 percent of total U.S. oil production.
Dominant Permian Acreage HolderOccidental is one of the largest acreage holders in the Permian
Basin with approximately 2.5 million net acres.
CO2 EOR Leader Occidental is the largest injector of carbon dioxide (CO2 ) in the
Permian Basin, injecting an average of 2.0 billion cubic feet per day.
We are an industry leader in applying this enhanced oil recovery (EOR)
technology, with 31 active floods and over 40 years of experience.

Active Development Program In Eddy and Lea counties, Occidental has an active drilling program
and is pursuing multiple horizons with horizontal and directional
wells. Occidental believes our acreage position will allow for many
years of development.
210% Permian Reserve Replacement
In 2016, Occidental replaced about 210 percent of its Permian
Basin production, with Permian Resources, its high-growth
unconventional drilling asset, replacing 290 percent of its
production. Occidental’s total company reserve replacement
ratio was 189 percent in 2016.
More than $166 Mil l ion in Royalt ies and Taxes In 2016, Occidental paid $125 million in royalties on production
from its New Mexico oil and gas properties, and more than
$41 million in New Mexico state, local and payroll taxes.
Local Workforce At year-end 2016, Occidental had approximately 11,000 employees
and contractors in the Permian Basin and over 33,000 worldwide.
Occidental employees in New Mexico have worked for the company
an average of nine years.
Training Excel lence Occidental’s Midland Technical Training Center provides
employees and contractors a real-world training environment
to drive operational excellence, consistency, collaboration and
safe work practices.
Leader in Safety Our 2016 employee and contractor Injury and Illness Incidence
Rate (IIR) of 0.28 is less than one-tenth of the current U.S. private
industry average IIR of 3.0 published by the U.S. Bureau of
Labor Statistics.
Local Investment Occidental plans to invest an estimated $550 million over the next
several years for additional CO2 flood expansions in both the North
and South Hobbs units.
Wildl i fe Conservation Occidental voluntarily enrolled approximately 640,000 acres and
committed more than $3 million toward conservation plans in the
Permian Basin to protect the Lesser Prairie Chicken, a candidate
species for listing under the Endangered Species Act, and the
Dunes Sagebrush Lizard.
Habitat Conservation Occidental has been recognized by the U.S. Bureau of Land
Management and the Restore New Mexico program for its
habitat restoration efforts on the Todd Lower San Andres Unit in
New Mexico.
Industry Col laboration for Safety Occidental is a founding member of the Joint Industry Technical
Committee, which brings New Mexico oil and gas and potash mining
operators together to work with state and federal agencies
in promoting legislative guidance to ensure safe and profitable
co-development.
