Coaching Course Structure
National Coach Accreditation Framework
• Netball Australia has recently updated their coaching accreditation framework.
• The new framework aims to assist coaches to successfully move through the Coach Education Framework.
• The major change to the coaching framework is the six-tier progression, rather than the previous three-tier, with each stage being accredited. The names of each of the courses have also changed to reflect the level of skills required at each stage of the player and coach pathway.

COACHING COURSE STRUCTURE
• Netball Victoria will continue to offer opportunities for coaches to progress along the coach development pathway, by conducting courses and workshops at each tier of the structure. As in previous years, associations and clubs may apply to host the following course;
• Development Coaching Workshop
• Intermediate Coaching Course

ONLINE FOUNDATION COACH ACCREDITATION
• The Online Foundation Coach Accreditation course is targeted primarily at beginner coaches, teachers, parents & NetSetGo coaches and outlines introductory coaching information and basic netball techniques. The course is the first step in the national coaching accreditation framework and is an important step along the knowledge pathway for a coach.
Length: There is no time limit on completing the course. You can learn in a self-paced environment and can log in and log out as required. But you must complete the course within a year of enrolling or it will expire.Cost: $55.00Content: The Role of the Coach, Planning, Teaching Netball Skills, The Coach in Action Pre-requisites: Minimum age 14 years Course material available: Upon successful completion of the online course, participants will be able to purchase the Netball Australia Foundation Coaches Manual for an additional $25.00

• The blended learning (online and face-to-face) Development Coach Accreditation course is targeted primarily at club, association and regional coaches and teachers aiming to further their netball knowledge.
• The course is the second step in the national coaching accreditation framework and provides a good introduction to skill progression and fault detection and correction.

The online education component is the first of three steps of the Development Coach Accreditation.
Length: There is no time limit on completing the course. You can learn in a self-paced environment and can log
in and log out as required. But you must complete the course within a year of enrolling or it will expire.
Cost: $50.00
Content: The Development Coach in Action, Safety and Movement, Coaching and Teaching Development Skills,
Basic Game Strategies
Pre-requisites:
• Minimum age 15 years
• Successful Completion of the Foundation Coaching Accreditation

The third component is the completion of the four-hour Development Face to Face Workshop.
Length: 4-hour Face to Face Workshop (Participant have 12 months from completion of the online course to attend the Face to Face Workshop).Cost: $60.00Content: The Development Coach in Action, Netball Australia’s Knee Program, Technique/Skill – Attacking & Defending, Introduction to Game Sense, Game Day CoachingPre-requisites:• Minimum age 15 years• Completion of the online Development Coach Accreditation component• Completion of the online Rules of Netball Theory Exam (70% pass). – Free of charge to complete• Must be a current Netball Victoria MemberCourse material available: Upon attendance at the face to face Development workshop, participants will receive the Netball Australia Development Coaches Manual.
FACE-TO-FACE DEVELOPMENT COACHING WORKSHOP

The Intermediate Coaching Course is aimed at those who are coaching players above the age of 14 years at Club, Association, Regional or Zone Academy level. The course is an excellent introduction into the practical component of the Advanced Coaching Course.

INTERMEDIATE COACHING COURSE

The Advanced Coaching Course is designed for coaches wanting to further develop their coaching skills to a level recommended for Regional Victorian State League, Victorian Netball League and Victorian State teams.
Length: Three days, two mentored coaching sessions and one final assessmentCost: $350.00Content: Advanced Skills of Netball, Game Analysis and Strategies, Physiology of Netball Pre-Requisites:• Successful completion of the Intermediate Coaching Accreditation • Two coaching session plans assessed as competent by a mentor (Advanced Accreditation or higher)• Must be a current Netball Victoria member Course Material Provided: Netball Australia Advanced Coaches Manual and Participant Workbook
ADVANCED COACHING COURSE

The Elite Course is designed for coaches of Victorian Netball League and Victorian State Teams, and is conducted annually by Netball Victoria.
Length: 1 Day, additional theory components via correspondence and one final assessment Cost: $150.00Content: Elite Tactics / Strategies: Position & Team SpecificPre-Requisites:• Successful completion of the Advanced Coaching Accreditation • Must be a current Netball Victoria member Course Material Provided: Participant Workbook

The High-Performance Coaching course is conducted by Netball Australia for coaches wanting to reach the pinnacle of coaching. This course has BEEN MODIFIED to reflect the changing requirements of coaching in the High-Performance environment.
