Report from the President2013 was a year of consolidation,

steady growth, and continual improvement for Netball Tasmania. We started and ended the year with a strong and committed Board, ably supported by a talented and hardworking team in the office.

In November we said farewell and very grateful thanks to Board member Grant Pryor, whose contribution to Netball Tasmania was extensive and much appreciated by his colleagues.

The work of the Board is focused on strategy and policy to ensure that Netball Tasmania opeates on a sound, sustainable basis for its future development. Our Strategic Plan has five key result areas that provide a framework for our activities and we have enjoyed significant achievements in each area.

Governance

Strategic Goal: Netball Tasmania is aligned with and valued by its Member Associations. Some of the activities for 2013 included:

• Meander Valley Netball Association formally affiliated with Netball Tasmania during 2013, with our staff providing support in key areas of governance.

• New constitution developed in partnership with Member Associations and adopted at a Special General Meeting in December.

Development

Strategic Goal: develop and sustain our participants’ and workforce’s knowledge and skills. Some of the activities for 2013 included:

• March Members’ Forum included round tables for financial management; player, coaching and officiating development; marketing/media/sponsorship; and a review of NT’s strategic plan.

• Accredited 220 coaches and 78 officials

• A six-week design course at Tasmanian Polytechnic for staff and volunteers.

Community

Strategic Goal: to enable and support community participation. Some of the activities for 2013 included sponsorship from Country Club Tasmania to support Tasmanian Masters Netball and in partnership with WorkSafe, support for a wide range of community activities including:

• Burnie NA and Kingborough NA for the delivery of netball to schools.

• NTNA for its 10/under roster (130 players).

• Devon Netball to support umpires and coaches at a junior level and increase the personnel available to assist with ANZ NetSetGO.

• St Helens NA for a community netball day.

• North Eastern NA to purchase new playing uniforms.

High Performance

Strategic Goal: invest in strategies that promote and develop the State League.

A key activity for 2013 was the State-wide High Performance review conducted by 65 members of the netball community in partnership with Netball Tasmania. Some key outcomes from the review were :

• The Key Recommendation to wind-up the Aurora League Commission was implemented in December 2013.

• “Develop a Diamond Academies” to align with Netball Australia’s player pathway development were established in 2013.

• A significant amount of work to implement the key recommendation to change the role of the High Performance Coach was undertaken during 2013 and will be completed in 2014.

Commercial

Strategic Goal: a robust organisation that uses its resources to achieve its strategic goals. Some of the achievements for 2013 included:

• Increased WorkSafe sponsorship for a three-year period.

• New Commercial partners KooGa, Tasmanian Bakeries, and Country Club Tasmania.

• Strategic Partnership with Netball Victoria/Vixens established.

At the time of writing this report the first Trans-Tasman game to be held in Tasmania is only weeks away. Supported by Events Tasmania, ANZ and Country Club Tasmania, this wonderful initiative took a lot of hard work during 2013 by the staff at Netball Victoria/Vixens and Netball Tasmania.

On behalf of the Board and the netball community, I would like to thank Events Tasmania, ANZ, Country Club Tasmania, our colleagues in Victoria, and the staff and volunteers in Tasmania for working so hard to make this very exciting event a reality.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to make 2013 such a great year for netball in Tasmania.

Report from General Manager

The enthusiastic staff team that I wrote about in my report last year has gone from strength to strength over the past 12 months, building a firm foundation for the future growth of Netball Tasmania. Once again the staff members have all worked incredibly hard to achieve the goals set for us in our strategic plan and by key funders, and it is to their credit that we managed to meet and frequently exceed our targets in 2013, just as we did in 2012.

Falling membership registration figures is a key area of concern, but it is well recognised that the economy has been particularly badly hit in parts of the State and families have to take great care in deciding where to spend their money.

It was therefore especially pleasing to see that three of our Associations increased their membership registrations over 2012. We also welcomed new affiliated association Meander Valley Netball Association and saw a significant increase in the number of children participating in ANZ NetSetGO.

At the end of the year we said farewell to Netball Tasmania’s longest serving employee, Kellie Tahiri, to devote more time to her personal coaching activities. Kellie’s contribution to coaching in Tasmania has been enormous and I would like to thank her for her many years of hard work, commitment and support to Netball Tasmania. Kellie will continue to have a close relationship with Netball Tasmania and will support our coach development programs as a presenter and assessor.

Bec Langford successfully completed her AFL SportsReady Traineeship in December 2013 and as a result of her competence and excellent contribution to the staff team was offered a permanent position with Netball Tasmania commencing 2014.

During 2013, 220 coaches, 52 umpires, 24 bench officials and two bench managers were accredited in Tasmania and a highlight of the year was Josh Bowring receiving an International Umpire Award. Josh regularly umpires at national and international competition and during 2013, his international appointments included the ANZ Championships and the World Youth Netball Championships in Glasgow.

Another significant achievement for Josh during 2013 was to be appointed as an umpire to the Commonwealth Games to be held in Glasgow in 2014.

Our Player Development activities continue to grow under the guidance of Shane Fish. In addition to supporting delivery of the full ANZ NetSetGO program to 709 children, Shane facilitated an introduction to netball to more than 1,000 children throughout the State during 2013. The key objective of this program is to ensure that children are not only introduced to netball but also to their local netball Association, to ensure that they continue to be supported in a safe, caring environment.

Our State teams competed in the 2013 national championships at 17U, 19U and Open level, and in the School Sport Australia competition for the

15U age group. Once again, the hard work of our volunteer coaches, team managers, and physiotherapists played an important role in these activities and I would like to acknowledge the many hours that they devote to netball and the players in their care.

The incredible support given by the parents of the players is hugely important to our ability to participate in national competitions and I would like to thank them all for their very important contribution to the continuance of our High Performance program.

I would also like to express my thanks to the many wonderful volunteers who supported their clubs to compete in the Aurora (State) League in 2013. It was another fantastic year of competition, with an outstanding Grand Final in both 19U and Open grades.

During 2013 staff from Netball Tasmania were able to meet with most of our Association committees and with the support of WorkSafe Tasmania, grants were made to the following Associations to support local activities:

• Delivery of netball to schools (Burnie, Kingborough).

• Support to NTNA for its 10/under roster (130 players).

• Support to Devon Netball to increase the numbers of Umpires and Coaches at a Junior level; develop coaches and mentors for Junior Umpires and Coaches; and increase the personnel available to assist with ANZ NetSetGO.

• Assistance in purchasing new uniforms for clubs (North Eastern).

• Assistance to hold a new community netball competition (St Helens).

There was a very significant partnership established between Netball Tasmania and Netball Victoria in 2013. During several meetings, staff of both organisations were able to identify key areas of mutual benefit and it was decided to focus initially on hosting a pre-season exhibition match in 2014 between the Melbourne Vixens and Northern Mystics in Tasmania.

This initiative was made possible by support from the Tasmanian State Government through Events Tasmania, and our commercial partners, ANZ and Country Club Tasmania. Great commitment from the staff of Netball Tasmania and Netball Victoria made it a reality. Support from the Northern Mystics, Netball Australia and the Trans Tasman Netball League Inc was also critical to the success of the endeavour.

There was also a significant gesture of confidence from the Board of Netball Tasmania, which was keen to see the event take place to achieve key outcomes relating to service and support to members of the netball community in Tasmania.

A media launch to announce the event was held at Country Club Tasmania in October, with Vixen Tegan Cauldwell joining Minister Michelle O’Byrne and children from Riverside Primary School. Many thanks to all those who took part and especially to Dannie Carstens for arranging the visit by Riverside Primary school girls (see photo above right).

A key project in 2013 was our High Performance Review, which was undertaken by more than 60 members of the netball community to evaluate every aspect of our player pathway from ANZ NetSetGO through to national selection. The key recommendations from this review were endorsed by the Board and implementation began during 2013, to be completed in 2014/15.

Netball Tasmania very much appreciates its close relationship with staff at Netball Australia, the Tasmanian Institute of Sport, and Sport and Recreation Tasmania. I would like to acknowledge the wonderful assistance that we receive from these organisations and in particular, to ask Kate Palmer, Paul Austen and Craig Martin to pass on our thanks to all their staff members.

Bec Langford with Kate Keenan

I would like to thank the Premier of Tasmania, Lara Giddings, and Minister O’Byrne and their staff teams for their wonderful support to netball throughout 2013. It is very rewarding to know that netball is acknowledged and highly valued by our State Governement.

In closing I would like to thank our commercial partners for their support and commitment during 2013. In particular, Aurora Energy, WorkSafe Tasmania, Tasmanian Bakeries, Country Club Tasmania, KooGa and Anvers. Thanks also to national sponsors ANZ, Telstra and Honda, whose support of netball throughout Australia during 2013 was much appreciated.

Recognition of Service to Netball

Netball Tasmania has five Life Members, an award that recognises and acknowledges significant service to the sport of netball at State level.

Photos of with Premier of Tasmania, Lara Giddings, are top left: Helen Andrews; top right Jan Walley OAM; mid left Judy Headlam; mid right Joy Symes; bottom right Marj Kerslake.

A huge thank you to all our Life Members for their service and commitment to netball in Tasmania.

A very special award was presented to Marj Kerslake during 2013 to recognise her 50 years of service to netball in Tasmania and in Australia.

Marj’s service was also recognised by Devon Netball Association, which named the netball centre at Spreyton the Marj Kerslake Netball Centre in her honour.

Fifty years as an administrator, coach and umpire in netball is a marvellous achievement and we were delighted that Netball Australia President Noeleen Dix was able to present the award to Marj at the Asian Youth Netball Championships in Brunei, where she was coaching young umpires. We later arranged for a second presentation in Tasmania, which Minister Michelle O’Byrne kindly agreed to do at the opening of the School Sport Australia Championships at the Silverdome in July.

Coles Netball Schools Ambassador Program

Late in 2012 saw the launch of the Netball Australia Coles Netball School Ambassador Program with the aim to establish a relationship between schools and the netball’s member organisation to develop and promote netball in and out of the classroom.

The program also aims to ensure that netball has a continuous presence in schools and ultimately becomes the sport of choice for many students, in particular girls.

The Coles Netball Schools Ambassador Program will ensure that school communities, via their registered ambassador, have access to all relevant netball programs and information about participation programs, coaching and officiating courses, and special events.

This program provides a range of quality material to support teachers in delivering a fun, safe, enjoyable netball experience for their students. The program and materials are provided by Netball Australia at no cost to schools or children.

Develop A Diamond Academy

Netball Tasmania’s Develop A Diamond Academy program was successfully conducted again in 2013, targeting players 14 to 15 years of age.

The program provided regional training opportunities for players and coaches to gain experience to further their skills in all areas of the sport, including technical and tactical, physical and well-being components.

The program commenced in mid-February with selections for 2013 held in October/November 2012. Eight regionally based squads were selected and a total of 112 athletes participated in the activities in 2013.

The 2013 Develop A Diamond Academy Carnival was held at the Silverdome in Launceston in mid-May 2013. A squad of thirty two players were selected from the 2013 Develop A Diamond Academy Carnival and invited to attend the 15U Phase 2 Camp, where the Tasmanian 15U Schoolgirls Team would be selected.

As in 2012 the Develop A Diamond Academy squads each included two reserves to provide more development opportunities for our junior athletes with a number of them replacing injured or withdrawn team members, this proved to be a good initiative for the program.

Netball Tasmania would like to thank Aurora Energy for its support of the 2013 Academy Program.

Tassie Hawks Netball Shield2013 saw the Tassie Hawks Netball

Shield return for the fifth year and was once again conducted in partnership with Hawthorn Football Club.

The competing schools were:

Division 1

1st St Brendan Shaw College

2nd Sacred Heart College

3rd St Patrick’s College

Division 2

1st Burnie High School

2nd Scottsdale High School

3rd Kings Meadows High School

Thank you to all of the umpires and score bench volunteers for their assistance; without their contribution the day would not have been so successful.

The winning high schools netball teams from the school competitions in the South, North and North West played off for the right to play in the Division one Final Series. Each regional winning school received a shield.

Six teams travel to Launceston for the final series on Tuesday 17 September at the Silverdome.

A Division 2 Final Series was include again to allow more schools the opportunity to complete in the finals against schools from other regions.

NetSetGO changed its name during 2013 to ANZ NetSetGO. It is Netball Australia’s junior netball program and was made available through Netball Tasmania again in 2013, with 709 participants throughout Tasmania.

Netball Tasmania also ran a number of junior clinics bringing netball to a further1002 children. ANZ NetSetGO was conducted by the following 15 registered centres:

• Burnie Netball Association

• Northern Tasmanian NA Centre

• Devon NA Centre

• AYC Netball Assocation

• Lilydale District Centre

• Midlands Magic Netball Club

• Gee Tees Centre

• St Helens NA Centre

• Deloraine Devils Netball Club

• Scottsdale Netball Club

• Circular Head NA Centre

• St Michael’s Collegiate School

• Kingborough NA Centre

• Huon Netball Club

• Cripps Waratah Centre

ANZ NetSetGO is the first step of the player development pathway. It is designed to provide children from the age of five to ten years with the best possible learning and playing experience that enables them to develop a positive introduction to netball, ensuring enjoyment and continued participation within the sport.

ANZ NetSetGO incorporates modified junior programs: 5 – 7 year olds to learn related fundamental motor skills with fun, music, dance and games, 8- 10 year olds to be part of modified games with a focus on fun and teamwork. It is coordinated by accredited coaches to ensure a safe, quality experience for all children.

The program is designed to complement the existing netball infrastructure by providing the wider netball community with quality resources and equipment to deliver an age and skill appropriate netball program, which leads into club participation and development pathways into State and national representation.

ANZ NetSetGO has developed a solid base in Tasmania from which it can grow as the program continues to reach all corners of the State. Promotions have included brochures, advertising and newsletter.

14/U and 16/U State League Development Competition

Netball Tasmania conducted another successful two-day competition for the Aurora League clubs in the 14/U and 16/U age groups on 16th February 2013 at the Aurora Stadium in Hobart.

This event is designed to provide an opportunity for players to gain experience against teams from other clubs in the State, as well as development for young coaches, umpires and bench officials.

Teams from all clubs competed in both age groups, with Burnie Tigers winning both the 14/U and 16/U.

Netball Tasmania would like to thank Judy Headlam and Marj Kerslake for their commitment in developing and promoting this key event within the high performance development pathways for our players, coaches, umpires and bench officials.

ANL Home Round ReportAugust 10th and 11th saw Tasmania

host Round 6 of the Australian Netball League at the Ulverstone Sports Stadium bringing top quality inter-state netball to the North West Coast for the first time in many years. The visiting sides competing were Queensland Fury, New South Wales Waratahs and Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

This was a great opportunity for spectators to watch the AIS side, which included current ANZ Championships players and underage Australian representatives as part of their preparation for the World Youth Cup.

The weekend would not have been possible without the support of the North West Associations in particular Devon and Burnie Netball Associations, whose members helped out in many areas across the weekend.

Also pleasing was the use of some of the younger score bench volunteers accredited at the School Sport Australia National Championships, which allowed further development to occur in this area and exposure to additional national standard competition for emerging officials. Tasmanian umpires Josh Bowring and Teresa Berry officiated at the games.

The event was well supported by the public in the North West and supported Netball Tasmania’s strategy of bringing high quality netball to all members of the Tasmanian netball community.

Tassie SpiritOn the whole, despite some of

the score lines, 2013 proved to be a successful year for Tassie Spirit, both in terms of being competitive now and continuing to build for the future. Highlights included;

Playing in the competition for the first time without imports from Victoria and remaining as competitive as we have been in any other year.

• Equalling the highest number of wins (three) but doing so for the first time without imports.

• Winning consecutive games for the first time in the competition.

• Biggest winning margin ever in an ANL match (with exception of versus Singapore) with an 18 goal win over Darters.

• Highest score twice (59 v Darters then beat that with 62 v Storm) in a match in ANL with the exception of versus Singapore.

• Being in a winnable positions v Victorian Flames (three) at three quarter time who went on to finish second in preliminary rounds.

• Being in a winnable position (four) with five minute to go against NSW Waratahs, who went on the finish third in preliminary rounds.

• Being in a winnable position versus Southern Force (six) at three quarter time, who went on to finish fourth in the preliminary rounds.

• Best ever result in ANL vs. NSW Waratahs in terms of goals score for and against.

• Highest score (40) ever in ANL vs. Victoria Fury.

• Highest goals scored by a Tassie Spirit player in a game (52 from Sophie Gunn v NT).

The team staff this year, comprising Andrew Jackson (Assistant Coach), Kate Keenan (Manager), Emily Grey (Physio) and Jon Fletcher (Specialist Coach) worked extremely well together and I believe this was reflected in the team results, the positive feedback received from players during the competition, and the level of enjoyment evident in the players.

15 and underThe team in 2013 had a home

Nationals at the Silverdome in Launceston culminating in a final position of seventh overall.

All players gained valuable experience in the lead up training, travelling and playing in a national competiton. Venita Holland again provided excellent support to our young athletes as the Team Manager, making sure that the girls were well looked after.

Apprentice Coach Kirya Duggan gained her first experience at national level, supported by Kellie Tahiri as Assistant Coach.

The competition was an enjoyable experience for all involved and included the traditional break for players, officials and their families to visit local places of interest. In Launceston the visits were to Marakoopa (Mole Creek) Caves and Trowunna Wildlife Park, which were enjoyed by all participants.

Although always aiming to finish higher, a seventh place finish was acceptable given that our athletes lacked the height and strength of athletes in the other teams.

The team had a good balance of experience and youth with four players returning for their second year and three available for selection in 2014.

The ‘Amy Safe Award’ for Tasmania, as voted by all opposition players at the conclusion of each roster match, was awarded to Frances Di Carlo

19 and underThe preparation was positive and

this was evident in the team’s general performance at Nationals.

Tasmania finished fifth overall, winning three out of seven games during the round robin competition (Western Australia, ACT and Northern Territory) and winning both finals (Northern Territory and Western Australia).

17 and underOverall, I believe the Championship

was a success and an enjoyable experience for all involved. Although always aiming to finish higher, a sixth place finish was a realistic result. We continually came up against bigger, stronger athletes and played well above our capacity to match them.

Apart from poor results against Victoria and the first game against Queensland, we were competitive in all other games.

Having three players, Kelsie Rainbow, Georgie Briggs and Nikki Miller selected in the 17/U national training squad was pleasing for us and great for the players. Others in the team that came under the notice of selectors were Shelby Miller and Gemma Evans.

The team staff this year, comprising Alicia Sargent (Assistant Coach), Kate Keenan (Manager), Michele Batchelor (Physio) and Kellie Tahiri (Mentor Coach) worked extremely well together.

Andrew Jackson, Head Coach

During the round robin competition Tasmania was competitive against all teams and played off for a position in the top four in its last round robin game against NSW, going down to NSW by seven goals.

The team staff this year, comprising Shane Fish (Assistant Coach), Ann Pearce (Manager), Emily Grey (Physio) and Kellie Tahiri (Mentor Coach) worked extremely well together.

The 2013/14 Tasmanian Institute of Sport (TIS) Netball Program is currently half way through the scholarship year with six athletes involved in the high performance daily training environment.

Head Coach – Jon Fletcher

Regional CoachesEbony Allen (North West)Dannie Carstens (North)Andrew Jackson (South)

To be eligible for a TIS Scholarship the athletes must have achieved at least one of the following performance benchmarks and the subsequent selection criteria and be ratified and endorsed by Netball Australia:

• Selection in a National Team;

• Selection to attend a National Talent camp;

• An athlete has had a strong performance at National Championships;

• Strong performances through club, regional and zone academy activities and competition including National Championships where applicable.

Selection Criteria

• Potential to compete at national level;

• Desire to become a national athlete which involves attendance and performance at all program activities;

• Outstanding desire and commitment to working hard at improving mental, physical and netball skills.

Induction for the 2013/14 squad was held on Saturday 15th July at the TIS in Launceston. The TIS program focuses on the individual development of each athlete and the provision and management of a daily training and personal development program geared at achieving High Performance Athlete status.

A typical week for a TIS athlete whilst preparing for a National Championship would be:

• 1 x TIS / State Regional training;

• 2 x TIS Strength and Conditioning sessions;

• 1 x State Team training;

• 2 x Aurora League training;

• 1 (2) x Aurora League games;

• Additional conditioning, shooting, skills, personal development sessions as required.

In addition to the weekly commitment several one day camps are held throughout the year where the full TIS squad comes together to train, complete physiological testing (aerobic, strength, power & speed) and personal development workshops amongst other things.

All six TIS Squad members competed in the 2013 Aurora League Competition. A key performance indicator for an athlete in the TIS Netball program is her performance at a National Championships. At the 2013 National Underage Championships held in Darwin in April, all six TIS athletes were members of the Tasmanian teams with Georgie Briggs, Dana Lester, Nikki Miller, Shelby Miller and Kate Percy representing in the 17/ Under team, and Kelsie Rainbow in the 19/ Under team.

At the conclusion of the National Championships Georgie Briggs, Nikki Miller and Kelsie Rainbow were invited to attend the National 17/ Under Talent Camp, as the National selectors believed these three athletes had shown considerable potential and would benefit from the experience of working with other athletes and coaches from across Australia. Unfortunately Georgie had to withdraw from the camp due to injury, however the upside was that Shelby was invited to attend in her place.

One highlight of the 2013 program was Kelsie Rainbow, Georgie Briggs and coaches Ebony Charlesworth and Dannie Carstens traveling to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) for three days to train and work with the AIS playing squad and coaches. The opportunity was an invaluable learning experience for all.

Another key performance indicator for the TIS program is athlete selection into the Tassie Spirit (ANL) program. Kelsie Rainbow was selected to this program, taking the court in all nine games played by the team. This is an outstanding achievement by Kelsie as the ANL is an open age competition.

The next TIS Scholarship intake for the 2014/15-year will take place in April at the conclusion of the 2014 Underage national Championships.

Netball Tasmania would like to express its thanks to the Tasmanian Institute of Sport, Sport and Recreation Tasmania, and Netball Australia for the funding and support that makes this program possible.

Masters Netball

Country Club Masters Netball continued to grow in 2013, following its launch in 2012.

Winning team for Autumn and Spring rosters at NTNA was Northern Hawks, with the players, coaches and volunteers enjoying their prize of a dinner at Country Club Tasmania.

Plans are well-developed to continue to grow Masters Netball throughout the State under the guidance of Judy Headlam. This is a key sport market for netball and we look forward to ongoing success in 2014 and beyond.

Members’ ForumIn March 2013, Netball Tasmania

trialled a new format for a Members’ Forum. Representatives from the Aurora League Clubs were invited to join delegates from Affiliated Associations and Netball Tasmania Board Members and staff to ensure that all key stakeholders had an opportunity to discuss issues and topics of importance to netball in Tasmania.

Helen Langenberg from Sport and Recreation Tasmania was able to join the Forum for the first half of the program. Her contribution was much appreciated and added significant value to the discussions.

The opening presentations from staff members and guest presenter Damian Hecker from Active After Schools Community (AASC) were made to all participants. All presentations were very well received with Damian’s talk about how AASC can support player, coach and umpire development at Associations receiving very positive feedback.

After a short break the participants split into breakaway groups with a Netball Tasmania Board member and staff member hosting each group.

Liz Banks and Luke Gaetani facilitated a discussion around strategic development and Netball Tasmania’s strategic plan.

Julia Phillips and Sandra Taglieri hosted a round table discussion about sponsorship and marketing.

Kellie Tahiri and Grant Pryor led a discussion about issues facing coaches and coach development, with Rachael Stebbings and Bec Langford hosting the group to talk about umpire and bench issues.

Marj Kerslake was joined by Damian Hecker and Kate Keenan to discuss ANZ NetSetGO and opportunities for children to participate in netball.

John Pugh and Deanne Newell were joined by Association representatives to discuss budgeting and finance.

A post Forum evaluation survey was circulated to all participants and received a strong measure of support for the new model and for the presenters/facilitators.

The initiative will be further developed for future years, to support open communication between all key stakeholders

NOTE 1: SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES

a) Basis of AccountingThis financial report is a special purpose financial report prepared in order to satisfy the financial reporting requirements of the Associations Incorporation Act (TAS). The Board has determined that the Association is not a reporting entity.

The financial report has been prepared on an accruals basis and is based on historical costs and does not take into account changing money values or, except where specifically stated, current valuations of non-current assets.

The following significant accounting policies, which are consistent with the previous period unless otherwise stated, have been adopted in the preparation of this financial report.

b) Income TaxThe Association is exempt from the payment of income tax under section 50-45 of the Income Tax Assessment Act (1997).

c) Plant and EquipmentPlant and equipment is carried at cost less, where applicable, any accumulated depreciation.

The depreciable amount of all plant and equipment is depreciated over the useful lives of the assets to the Association commencing from the time the asset is held ready for use.

d) Impairment of AssetsAt the end of each reporting period, the entity reviews the carrying amounts of its tangible assets to determine whether there is any indication that those assets have been impaired. If such an indication exists, the recoverable amount of the asset, being the higher of the asset’s fair vale less costs to sell and value in use, is compared to the asset’s carrying amount. Any excess of the asset’s carrying amount over its recoverable amount is recognised in the income and expenditure statement.

e) Employee BenefitsProvision is made for the Association’s liability for employee benefits arising from services rendered by employees to the end of the reporting period. Employee benefits have been measured at the amounts expected to be paid when the liability is settled.

f) ProvisionsProvisions are recognised when the association has a legal or constructive obligation, as a result of past events, for which it is probable that an outflow of economic benefits will result and that outflow can be reliably measured. Provisions are measured at the best estimate of the amounts required to settle the obligation at the end of the reporting period.
