Kathmandu, Bhaktpur, Lalitpur, Dolkha,

Sindhupawl Chowk, Kavre, Nuakot, Gorkha and

Dr. Pranav Pandya (Head - All World Gayatri Pariwar

and Chancellor - Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya,

Haridwar), Shri Gaurishankar Sharma ji (Manager -

Shantikunj, Haridwar) and Dr. Chinmay Pandya (Pro-

Vice Chancellor - Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya,

Haridwar) reached Kathmandu on 4th May to

monitor the disaster relief work being conducted by

Gayatri Pariwar in Nepal, to do future planning for

the long-term rehabilitation work, and to hold

special discussions with Shri K. P. Oli (former Deputy

Prime Minister of Nepal) and Shri Leela Mani Paudyal

(Chief Secretary of Nepal). It is noteworthy that

immediately after the disaster, on the second day

itself (on 26th April), hundreds of volunteers from

Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Mumbai had reached

Nepal in about a dozen vehicles, under the

supervision of Shri Virendra Tiwari ji, Shri Rakesh

Jaiswal and Dr. Bhikhubhai, along with ambulance,

medicines, blankets and food material.

Dr. Pranav Pandya told that after the initial rescue

and relief operations, Gayatri Pariwar will work with

the Government of Nepal for the rehabilitation and

development of villages and schools. In this regard,

Secretary level talks are underway. Ad. Shri

Gaurishankar ji told the residents of Nepal - 'In these

moments of disaster, the affection, brotherhood and

relief efforts of entire Gayatri Pariwar are for the

reconstruction of Nepal'.

After this, the team surveyed the Disaster Relief

Base Camp set up by All World Gayatri Pariwar in

Gayatri Pariwar Kendra, Bansbari and National Police

Training Institute, Maharajgunj. The A.I.G.P. of Nepal

Police, Shri Rajendra Singh Bhandari ji welcomed the

guests and expressed their commitment to work

together for disaster management & rehabilitation

work. Smt. Savitri Kafle a senior volunteer with her

team is playing a major role in Relief Work in Nepal.

The team of senior volunteers from Shantikunj

went to the earthquake affected regions of Banasthali

in Kathmandu, along with the Disaster Management

team of Gayatri Pariwar that has already been

working there, and together they distributed relief

material to the earthquake victims. Here, a senior

volunteer of Gayatri Pariwar, Narhari Dhimire ji

welcomed the entire team. Everyone surveyed

Bhaktapur, the city of ancient temples and heritage

sites, which was severely affected by the earthquake.

Another team, under the guidance of Dr. Chinmay

Pandya, went to Sindhupal Chowk, about 65 km

from Kathmandu, which was worst affected by the

earthquake. Here, about 10,000 people have been

confirmed dead. Dr. Chinmay Pandya ji surveyed the

region along with his team. There, since last 5 days,

Disaster Relief Camp was being run in collaboration

with other organizations like PAHAL (Mumbai),

Vardhman Sanskar Dham, HISAN, Nobel Hospital

and Nepal Scout; food material, blankets, utensils,

tarpaulin were being distributed to the earthquake

victims from this Relief Camp. The doctors in the

Gayatri Pariwar Disaster Management teams from

Mumbai and Gujarat treated about 300 wounded

patients daily. Dr. Chinmay Pandya said that this

Camp is an ideal example for everyone with regards to

providing significant relief from pain.

In this visit, special meetings and discussions

were held with Shri K. P. Oli (former Deputy Prime

Minister of Nepal), Shri Leela Mani Paudyal (Chief

Secretary of Nepal), Jaya M. Khanal (Secretary,

Ministry of Industry, Nepal), Shri Rajendra Singh

Bhandari (A.I.G.P., Nepal Police), Rudra Prasad Basyal

(D.S.P.), and, Shri Yuvraj Dhimre (Media Chief in

Nepal).

Looking at the relief work being done by Gayatri

Pariwar, former Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal, Shri

K. P. Oli said - 'People of Nepal have directly observed

the technical knowhow and experience available with

Gayatri Pariwar in fighting with earthquake, flood,

storm. In the moments of disaster, in true sense it

was Gayatri Pariwar only that did real service without

thinking about any name or fame. All of us will also

adopt this Disaster Management system of Gayatri

Pariwar.'
