Next Neighborhood Meeting
WEDNESDAYJULY 57:00PMLocation:
St. Helens Park4007 E 13th Street
Bring a Neighbor!
HHNA Officer ElectionsAs usual, we will be holding elections for officers at our July meeting in St. Helens park. All positions are open for nominations: Chair, Co-Chair, Secretary/Treasurer and Newsletter Editor. Three of our current officers are stepping down. Thank you Will, Neatha and Tracey for your years of service. If you would like to be nominated call Will at (360) 718-1197. You do not need to attend the meeting to run for a position. There are people running for three of the positions so far. The only position completely open at this time is Newsletter Editor. The commitment
would be for one year. We usually put out just 6 newsletters each year so the amount of time and work involved is minimal. A newsletter template will
be provided. All that is needed is to insert articles into
the template. Articles are submitted by neighbors. The city also generates articles and fliers that may be selected and inserted. The
candidate should have a computer with
a word processor, an internet connection and
some basic word processing skills. If you are looking to improve your resume this would be a nice addition. See page 3 for details.

Summer Heat Safety TipsThe long, hot days of summer can bring dangerously high temperatures. The American Red Cross has steps people can follow to stay safe when it’s hot outside.
HOT CARS CAN BE DEADLY Never leave children or pets in your vehicle. The inside temperature of the car can quickly reach 120 degrees.
• Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. Avoid drinks with caffeine or alcohol.
• Avoid extreme temperature changes.• Wear loose-fitting, lightweight,
light-colored clothing. Avoid dark colors because they absorb the sun’s rays.
• Slow down, stay indoors and avoid strenuous exercise during the hottest part of the day.
• Postpone outdoor games and activities.
• Take frequent breaks if working outdoors.
• Check on family, friends and neighbors who do not have air conditioning, who spend much of their time alone or who are more likely to be affected by the heat.
• Check on animals frequently to ensure that they are not suffering from the heat. Make sure they have plenty of cool water.
Be safe & have a great summer!
