Executive Committee Report

• “Maintaining a Viable Defense Industrial Base” White Paper created and ready for broad distribution

– Addresses the key issues currently impacting the U.S. defense industry:

1. Manufacturing Technology Funding2. Lack of a Skilled Manufacturing Workforce3. DoD Supply Chain Management4. Modernization of Defense Manufacturing Facilities5. Global Competition6. Manufacturing and Local Economies7. Environmental Protection

– Target audience: Presidential Candidates, Congress and DoD

• Established a “Joint Systems & Manufacturing Engineering For Producibility Committee” with the NDIA System Engineering Division

Executive Committee Report

• Developed plan to build on the highly successful 2008 Spring Meeting in Canada

– Spring 2009 Meeting will be held at the Canadian Embassy in DC and will include guest participants from 2008 Spring meeting

– Plan to return to Canada in Spring 2010, and repeat cycle of meetings every other year

• Formed a Nominating Committee for Division Chairman & Vice Chairman per our Charter, led by Kevin Fischer

• Supported MRL/MRA Discussions with the OSD Systems and Software Engineering Division and requested Industry Survey (Member Responses Due 8/14/08)
