to health issues.
Bob reported that the
new NCRCC website
was successfully
launched.
Bob noted that during
the July general
membership meeting
John P- had
commented that a
„welcome package‟ is
needed for new
members to help
acclimate them to
NCRCC rules, by-laws,
etc. Acknowledging that
need, Bob described a
welcome package that
he‟s developing that
addresses John P-„s
inquiry.
On Len‟s behalf, Bob
delivered a brief
Treasurer‟s Report.
The club is in solid
financial shape. Len is
in the process of
reviewing costs/
services currently being
received from two
vendors (portable toilet
and dumpster) as some
issues have arisen that
need to be addressed.
Bob requested that any
member who has an
invoice that needs to be
reimbursed should send
that invoice to Len at
their earliest
convenience.
Bob asked for a motion
to approve the July
general membership
meeting minutes which
The meeting was
called to order at 6:42
PM by President Bob
LaFlamme. The
meeting was held at
the NCRCC flying
field in Ellington and
attended by 25
members and 9
guests.
President’s Report:
Bob LaFlamme
welcomed the
meeting attendees.
He noted that both,
Mike Maznicki and
Len Marchese, will
not be attending

appeared in the newsletter.
A motion was made,
seconded, and passed.
Vice President’s Report:
No report.
Secretary’s Report:
Stan Kulesa reported that
NCRCC currently has 187
members. Guests tonight
included George Sweatt,
Mike Yezak, Carl Alleman,
Frank Montalti, Will
Trzaski, Jim Haney, John
Blossick, David Brodeur,
and Alene Lang.
Stan thanked the Web
Team (composed of Leo
N-, Ola N-, and Stan) for
finalizing and launching the
new website and called for
a round of applause for
Leo. Stan asked Leo to
say a few words and he
noted that we are getting
hundreds of hits
(domestically and
internationally) to the new
website. Leo made a
request to the members for
a photographer and asked
one or more members to
volunteer. Stan asked the
membership to continue
providing feedback to him
concerning the website.
The first person to use the
„Contact Us‟ feature on the
new website was Joan Liska.
(Joan is one of the AMA
District 1 Associate Vice
Presidents.) She shared her
notes from the AMA
Leadership Roundtable
meeting. Stan read a
summary of Joan‟s notes to
the meeting attendees.
Stan announced that the work
project to refresh the club by-
laws would be restarting. He
asked for those members that
may be willing to serve with
him on an ad hoc committee to
conduct the review of the
NCRCC By-Laws. Joel L-,
Dennis T-, and Gershon T-
volunteered for the committee.
Treasurer’s Report:
See the President‟s Report.
Activities Director Report:
Irv Thurrott noted that there
isn‟t too much going on from
an activities perspective due to
the coronavirus.
Irv acknowledged the release
of the new website and
recognized Leo N-.
Irv spoke about Model Aviation
Day (8/15/2020) festivities
underway and coordinated by
the AMA. Of note, Irv
described how Horizon
Hobbies was hosting a virtual
air show.
Irv reminded the membership that
he will be vacating the role of
Activities Director soon and asked
for a member to step forward and
volunteer to fill this important
function for the club.
Liaison Officer Report:
Mark Paradise reminded the
membership that he‟s got three
different colors of NCRCC hats for
sale and he brought along his
display to showcase them. Mark
also stated that he‟s willing to take
orders for polo shirts and noted
that he can offer many more
different colors than the two
pictured on the website and that
members should contact him for
details. Prior to the meeting, Mark
walked around with the new
NCRCC bumper stickers and sold
a few.
In addition to club merchandise,
Mark conducted a raffle and the
winners received a kit, an aviation-
themed book, and a DVD on
MonoKoting tips.
Field Marshall/Safety Officer
Report:
Art Usher spoke about some
vandalism that occurred at our
flying field. Specifically, the large
picnic table was moved, temporary
lighting was installed under the
pavilion roof, lots of beer
containers were left, and one of our
birdhouses was destroyed by an
explosive. Art reported the

vandalism to the police. He has
also set up the club‟s game
camera and is giving serious
consideration to purchasing and
installing an additional higher
quality camera. Art lamented that
some trespassers use ATVs to
enter our property. More to
come on dealing with this topic.
Newsletter Editor Report:
No report.
Old Business:
John P- reminded the members to
return chairs to under the pavilion
to assist our volunteer mowing
team.
John P- also asked that we use
the sound system for our meetings
taking place at the flying field. He
noted that with the social
distancing being deployed those
members sitting in the outlying
areas are having a tough time
hearing those speaking at the
meeting.
Gersh T- reported that he‟s found,
on multiple occasions, that the
gate was left open and unlocked
with no flyers at the field. He also
strongly recommended that after a
member unlocks the gate that they
spin the tumblers so that the
combination is not unintentionally
revealed.
New Business:
Since they are seeking club
membership, Bob asked
guests Frank Montalti, Jim
Haney, John Blossick, and
David Brodeur to introduce
themselves and share a bit
about their backgrounds. Jim
is a former NCRCC member
who returned to the area.
Bob presented membership
applicants George Sweatt,
Mike Yezak, Carl Alleman, Will
Trzaski, and Jim Haney for a
vote on their membership
status. A motion was made,
seconded, and passed for all
five to be added to the ranks of
NCRCC members. Will T- is a
Junior Member.
Leo N- gave a „show and
tell‟ on two pylon racers
he‟s recently added to
his fleet. Leo, Ola N-,
and Lloyd B- recently
returned from competing
in the Nats. Leo talked
about some of the
issues he had to deal
with (equipment failure,
midair collision, motor
failure) that impacted his
results while in Muncie.
In 2021, the Nats will be
followed by the World
Championship so the
plan at this point is for
he and his family to
spend quite a bit of time
in Muncie next year.
The meeting was
adjourned at 7:26 PM.
These minutes are
respectfully submitted by
Stan Kulesa, Secretary.

Activities Director’s Report – September, 2020
Irv Thurrott
Activities Director
The next meeting will be
outdoors at the field on
Thursday, September 10th at 6
PM [ NOTE MEETING START
TIME CHANGE ]. Please bring a chair and mask, as we‟ll be practicing Social Distancing. The AMA believes that the “FAA Safety Test” will be a 20 question “quiz” that allows you to do research to come up with
the correct answers (if you don‟t already know them). There is also the possibility that the test can be administered by a Club Officer at a Club Meeting, with all present becoming qualified once the correct answers are reviewed. Not sure of the cost, if any, to take the test. Tony Stillman, the new AMA Safety Director, talked about this on a recent video. We‟re discussing the possibility of holding the October Club

September 2020 Field Supervisors Report:
It has been brought to my
attention by Dennis T- that the lock is being left hanging on the gate open and on the combination while people are at the field flying. This has been addressed in the past, but we will do it again. If you are the first at the field and open the gate, put the lock back on the gate with the protective device slid back on and re-lock it and spin the combination. This will keep passers-by from stealing
Meeting at the field on a Saturday morning. This practice has been used in past years and is an enjoyable get-together that includes a lot of flying. The approach is more complicated this year due to the COVID situation, but
the lock or seeing what the combination is. That‟s all I have for now. Art
hopefully it can be scheduled. There are still no 2020 NCRCC Events, but we‟ll always be willing to discuss any possibilities. Hope all of you are doing well
and staying healthy! Looking forward to seeing/ hearing you during the meeting, Activities Director, Irv

For several decades, and all of them for the most part
successfully, NCRCC has sought to keep our club dumpster tipping fees to a reasonable minimum for our group. As such we have requested that large bulky items such as crashed aircraft, and items that obviously should be left at or brought back home not be placed in our club dumpster. Certainly recyclable items might be disposed of without incurring club cost. At one point within my life-time cardboard was a possible asset to some local municipalities. Might be flattened at a minimum.

If you are able to get out to
the field and fly. That‟s great! It‟s been a terribly hot summer but the flying spirit is still out there going strong. I‟d like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our new members. It‟s wonderful to see the club grow! I hope you all enjoy our (your) beautiful field. I‟d like to entice more members, especially our new members to come to our monthly meetings. There is often news that you all need to know and of course we have the raffle! This month I have something very special for all you helicopter lovers. I took a trip to Hog Heaven (which I hope many of you patronize as it is the greatest hobby shop in our area, and they always give me a discount on items I purchase for the club raffle!) with my good friend Stan Kulesa and picked up a couple of interesting items. Believe me, the decisions were hard to make, but I finally decided on purchasing a Blade Nano S2 helicopter. The specs are listed below and I think you‟ll love to take this little baby home, so make sure you come to the September meeting and buy lots of raffle tickets! I‟m counting on you. Get up out of your armchairs; bring a folding chair and your
mask and get on down to the field! I would also like to mention that I offer club hats for sale at each meeting along with beautiful polo shirts with our club logo, and for a nominal additional fee you can actually have your name embroidered on the shirt as well. Although there are only two shirts pictured on our website, there are more than 30 colors available. If you want one, just contact me,
and we can meet and you can pre-pay me and I‟ll be happy to order one for you. The prices and sizes are listed on the website. Oh, I almost forgot! I also am selling our new NCRCC bumper stickers at $5 a pop! Watta deal! So support your club with some of these purchases. They help us in small ways to purchase things we need to run the club. See you soon! Mark Paradise NCRCC Liaison Officer

From the Treasurer:
Len Marchese
NCRCC Treasurer
I believe there is a
saying “time does go by faster when you get older”, there must be some truth to the statement. Here it is already September.
Normally, this time of year
my driveway starts to get bombarded with acorns. Well, knock on wood; I do not see any acorns. So maybe it is a good thing. As for financials we are excellent. Vendors are being paid, and we added 5 new members to the club in the month of August. Welcome to NCRCC! A reminder that the portable sanitation unit and the dumpster will be taken away in October month-end. They will be back starting April 1st, 2021.
Only a few months away but the 2021 membership renewal campaign will start November 1st, 2020. We are exploring an email renewal notification delivery to all members for 2021. As a reminder the Thursday September 10th meeting start time changed from 6:30pm to 6:00pm. See you at the field. Stay safe and healthy, Len Marchese, NCRCC Treasurer
