COMPETITOR INFORMATION

VERIFICATION OF ENTRIES

Please text Chris on 021525070 any weight category changes by Thursday 29th August 12pm. This will allow us to update any changes and provide final start lists Friday morning.

if an athlete weighs in over the bodyweight category in which they have entered, they will still be able to participate as a Guest lifter. They will not be able to place, win a medal or contribute to team points.

PRIZE GIVING/MEDALS

After each session there will be a prize giving. All competitors will receive a participation certificate. There will be a podium for first, second and third placings of the two age groups (under 15/over 15). All competitors are expected to be available for a group photo after prize giving.

If an athlete fails to successfully complete a Snatch lift they will be allowed to continue with their C&Js, but will not be able to post a Total, so will not be eligible for a medal or placing in their session.

DRESS REGULATIONS

IWF Rules apply

All athletes must wear an appropriate lifting suit according to the IWFstandards.

School P.E. Uniform is acceptable as long as t-shirts are collarless and the referees can see elbows, knees and t-shirts are tucked in so hips can be seen locked out.

Please ensure weightlifting belts are regulation size; max width 12cm and worn on the outside of singlet, uniform.

WARM UP AREA

The warm-up area is tight. Because of this warm-up platforms will be allocated at weigh in by start number unless a club/school has 2 lifters in same session in which case they will be paired together and only one coach per athlete will be allowed in the warm-up room. Athletes and coaches will be expected to walk on just one side of the room as indicated at weigh in and to keep the area tidy for safety. If the athlete has a second coach, he or she is welcome to stay by the Marshall table but one coach in the warm-up room will be strictly enforced for the safety of all. It would be appreciated if athletes and coaches put away weights after their warm up before the next session.

WEIGH IN AREA/TOILETS/CHANGING ROOM

Athletes MUST weigh in , in their underwear - not clothing. Weigh in area will be private held in the main changing room. Access to this area and the scales will be out of bounds during weigh in times. There will be an indoor gazebo assembled where athletes can get changed with privacy. Bags can also be left secure in this location. There is 2 toilets inside the building and there will be 2 flash portaloos just outside the warm up area. Please do not flush paper towels down the toilets.

GENERAL INFORMATION

SPECTATORS

Spectators can enter the gym by the main roller door and watch for free.

If unfamiliar with a weightlifting event some of these points may be good to note:

• Cheering the lifter as they walk onto the platform is totally fine and in someways encouraged.• As they step on the platform it is asked the spectators be quiet so the lifter can focus.• Cheering after they have lifted again is encouraged.• Please keep control of younger children/toddlers mainly for safety reasons. We know the gym

can be an attraction for them!• Please tidy up any food, drinks, rubbish you have before you leave.

ACCOMMODATION

Around 5 mins from the event location in Trentham is the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport (NZCIS). They have good rates, simple and clean rooms for those who are staying over. Please contact Angela Smylie at: [email protected] to book your rooms.

FOOD/DRINK

There is a shop across the road from the gym. They will be open from 8am Saturday and Sunday. They offer sandwiches, wraps, pies and a selection of drinks. A water cooler is located in the changing room to fill up your bottles. Other local cafes and supermarkets are a 3-5min drive. A coffee cart will be open both days of the competition.

Alcohol is not to be consumed at any time on the premises. For the parents coming to watch Upper Hutt has a place called Brewtown. Some great eateries and local craft beer available.
