President's message…… Our annual
picnic will be here very soon! On August 3rd at Albion
Woods in the Metroparks. In addition to great food,
fun games and hanging out with your favorite ski
friends, we will be crowning a new ski Queen for the club, and
announcing the 2010 Racer of the Year! If you have not yet
purchased your ticket, please contact Lisa Ferenc at (216)
433-6592 ASAP - it really helps us tell our caterer what to bring so everyone can
get enough food.
Our trips committee has been very active lately, and they are quickly selling
seats for the 3 week-long trips next year! We are going to Vail, Aspen/Snowmass,
and Snowbasin/Powder Mountain next year; Be sure to contact the trip leaders to
sign up for one (or two or three...) of these soon! In addition, we will have weekend
trips to Boyne Mountain and Laurel Hills lodge, and day trips to Holimont, Holiday
Valley, and Seven Springs have been planned out. It looks like we have a LOT of
skiing ahead of us in 2011!
Finally, our list of summer activities is included later in this newsletter – we
still have a lot of fun left before skiing begins again!
I really hope to see you at the picnic! – Stacey
2011 Ski Queen CompetitionAllison Wood and Sue Rojeck are going to be presented at the August picnic, and the club will have a chance to vote on who will represent us for the CMSC ski queen competition. Bring your votes out to Albion Woods so we can crown her at the picnic!

If you are interested in kayaking, please contact Jim Slifka or Allen Porter. With enough interest we can
try it again. As of this writing and less than a few days away from the kayak event, we haven’t gotten a

Recap of the Goodtime III Rush Hour Cruise Friday July 16, 2010
It was the perfect night for this event as the sky was blue with no clouds in sight,
The temperature was nice - not too hot or cold and everything else
was just right!
I was joined by Joe & Denise Gruden , Joe & Lynn Roche , Elise
& Bruce Frankenfeld, Joe Ezerskis and Gail, Jan Neumann and her
friend Helen along with my dear friends (and sister) Rosemary Toole,
Therese Corrigan, Barb Cool and Irene Weston. We enjoyed ourselves
tremendously especially as we
celebrated Therese Corrigan’s
birthday and I have to say that
we had a good time on the Good
Time.
Our turnout was pretty good
but I was surprised that there was such low attendance es-
pecially since the weather was so good. They were about a
quarter less people than what they usually get but that was
nice because we had our choice of seating. We had seats on
the upper deck as well as a table by the dance floor (for
those of us who wished to dance). It was nice to mingle between the two – it was great to soak up
the sun and enjoy the wide open view of the sky and lake from the top deck, but the shade and
the breeze on the mid deck were a welcome relief.
As always the cruise was over way too early
so we stopped off at the Sunset Grill on Whisky
Island and indulged ourselves with burgers and
beer. We met up with Barb’s boyfriend, Jim and
some new and old friends and talked the night
away.
Join us on our annual cruise next year – it is
the perfect way to spend a summer night! Article by Therese Telzow and photos by Elise Allen
and Jan Neumann
Recap of Fly in Saturday June 26, 2010
Our EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) chapter hosted the
annual pancake breakfast flyin at Columbia airport in Columbia
Township Sat June 26. We had good weather and a nice turnout.
Several planes flew in and were parked along the flight line. A lot of
hungry pilots flew in for the pancakes. The purpose of the flyin is
to provide a means for kids under 18 an opportunity to fly in a small
airplane. Once those kids complete their flight they are given a
certificate naming them a Young Eagle. Hopefully the flight will encourage those kids to seek avi-
ation as a career. I flew a special person on his first flight. See Brian and me in the cockpit. For
those that missed this one there will be another flyin in Sept...the Flyro Gyro. Article and photo
