Ready To Learn – Build my Character – Increase My Intellect

Greetings Napier Family:

Welcome to our first edition of our Napier Academy newsletter for the 2016-2017 school year. The Dr. Frank Napier, Jr. School of Technology has kept her momentum from last school year, and started off this year in a strong manner. In 2015-2016, we met our four major improvement targets and we intend to do so again in 2016-2017. In fact, our theme this year is “Let’s Do It Again.” That cannot happen without your help as your child’s parent or guardian. The climate and culture of the school is continuously changing for the better, as has been noted by any of our visitors who stop by to see us. I am sure you have felt the change over time as well. It is our desire that parents are knocking our doors down to get their child into the Dr. Frank Napier, Jr. School of Technology. It is our goal to, one day, become a Blue Ribbon school, and it can happen with everyone’s desire to always do what is in the best interest of our children.

Halloween FestMs. Joan Perry, Reading Specialist

It was that time of year again! On Wednesday October 26, 2016, many aspiring gothic writers took part in Napier’s Annual Halloween Fest! Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 created an appetizing buffet from the horror genre to entertain the miniature goblins from Grades 2, 3 and 4. The authors’ menu consisted of scary stories depicting their creative

imaginations. Students feasted on every morsel served on the menu and applauded the authors for their gruesome presentations.

The ambience of the glowing makeshift fireplace, gothic decorations, and pumpkin shaped buckets filled with a variety of candies submitted by the classroom teachers made the children’s appetite for the “Halloween Fest” a memorable experience.

Bookaneer Book FairOur Bookaneer Book Fair is a reading event that provides the books kids want to read! It's a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Please make plans to come to our Book Fair, located in the main lobby, during the week of November 14-18, and be involved in shaping your child's reading habits. For more information, please contact Ms. Capers.
