1 Installation OverviewImportant: In this document, we provide detailed instructions for the installation of SAP NetWeaver Portal2004s release in the Microsoft landscape (Microsoft OS and Microsoft SQL Server database or Max DB(refer to N13 Rapid Installer ). This is the only deliverable in the SAP Best Practices for Enterprise Portal

which is Platform dependent.

If you are using a different operating system, or database, refer to the standard Installation instructions thatwere delivered with the SAP Enterprise Portal software. You may use all other content delivered in SAPBest Practices.

1.1 Pre-Installation Steps

• Install and Configure Sun Java SDK 1.4.2_06 or higher and below 1.5

• Install and Configure Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and patches

1.2 Install Sun Java SDK 1.4.2_06 or higher and below 1.5

1.2.1 Download Sun Java SDK

1. Visit Java SDK downloads athttp://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html.

2. Choose Download J2SE SDK link.

3. Choose Download j2sdk-1_4_2_09-windows-i586.exelink.

4. Choose Open in the dialog box. The file will begin to download and the InstallShield Wizard will startwhen download is complete.

5. Read and accept the terms to continue.

6. Select Next three times.

7. Choose FinishJAV.

1.2.2 Set Environment Variable

1. In Microsoft Windows, chooseStart Settings Control Panel System .

2. Choose the Advanced tab.

3. Choose the Environment Variables button.

4. In the System Variables area, choose New .

5. Enter  JAVA_HOME for the variable name and the installed directory for the variable value.

6. Choose OK .

Result

Sun Java SDK 1.4.2_09 is now installed and configured.

1.3 Install Microsoft SQL Server 2000

The MS SQL server 2000 must be newer or equal to version 8.00.780 and using the Unicode Hotfix (QFE).See SAP Note 600027 for more information.

If you don’t already have Microsoft SQL Server 2000 you can download an evaluation version fromhttp://www.microsoft.com/sql/evaluation/trial.

Ensure that there is no Microsoft SQLServer Desktop Edition (MSDE) installation on the computer. If there isan older version of Microsoft SQL Server 2000, remove this version first. Also delete the folder of the SQLServer manually, for example, C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server . Restart the computer.

1. Navigate to the MS SQL Server software folder.

2. Double-click the Microsoft SQL Server autorun.exe icon. The Installer splash screen will appear.

3. Select SQL Server 2000 Components.

4. Select Install Database Server.

5. Choose Next in the Welcome screen.

6. Select Local Computer .

7. Choose Next.

8. Select the Create a new instance of SQL Server radio button and chooseNext.

9. Enter your Name and Company , then choose Next in the User Information Screen.

10. Read the Software License Agreement and choose Yes in the Software License Agreement  Screento continue.

11. Select the Server and Client Tools radio button and choose Next.

12. Select the Default checkbox if possible. Otherwise, enter an instance name. ChooseNext.

13. On the Setup Type dialog box, select Custom radio button.

This is an important step. The Setup Type must be Custom.

14. Choose Next in the Select Components screen.

15. In the Service Settings area, select Use the Local System account radio button.

16.  Choose Next .

17. Select Mixed Mode and enter the password in the two input fields.18. Choose Next .

19. In the Collation Settings dialog box, select Binary Order , for use with the 850 (Multilingual)Character Set.

Hint: Enter B twice on the keyboard to navigate to the correct collation.

20. Choose Next in the Network Libraries screen.

21. Choose Next in the Start Copying Files screen.

22. Choose Finish in the Setup Complete screen.SQL Server is now installed on your system.

1.3.1 Install Service Pack 3

1. Download Service Pack 3 from http://www.microsoft.com/sql/downloads/2000/sp3.asp.

2. Select your language as English.

3. Choose sql2ksp3.exe link.

4. Save the file to your hard drive.

5. Navigate to the file.Double-click the file icon.

6. Select a folder to unpack the file.

7. Choose Finish in the Setup Complete screen.

8. Navigate to the directory you selected.

9. Double-click the setup.bat icon.

10. Choose Next in the Welcome screen.

11. Read the Software License Agreement and chooseYes in the Software License Agreement Screento continue.

12. Select Next in the Instance Name screen.

13. Select The SQL Server system administrator login information (SQL Server authentication)radiobutton. Enter the password you entered previously. Choose Next.

14. Check Upgrade Microsoft Search and apply SQL Server 2000 SP3 (required)checkbox. ChooseContinue.

15. Choose OK in the Error Reporting screen.

16. Choose Next in the Start Copying Files screen.

17. Choose OK in the Setup screen.

18. Click Finish.SQL Server Service Pack 3 is now installed.

1.3.2 Apply SQL Server Hotfix

You can only run this update on a new installation of the MS SQL server 2000.

1. Download the latest patch fromhttp://service.sap.com/swcenter-3pmain  MS SQL Server  SQL

Server 32-bit  SQL Server 2000  Hotfix, See SAP Note 600027 and 624951

2. Double-click SQL2000-KB810185-8.00.0780-ENU.exe

3. Choose Next in the Welcome screen.

4. Read the End User License Agreement and check the /accept the licensing terms and conditionscheckbox to continue.

5.  Choose Next .

6. Choose the Instance in the drop list menu corresponding to your server.

7. Choose the SQL Server Authentication radio button in the Authentication Modescreen.Enter the password you entered previously.

8. Choose Next .

9. Choose Install in the Ready to Install screen.

10. Choose Finish in the Hotfix Complete screen.SQL Server Hotfix is now installed.

1.3.3 Apply Collation Fix

1. Download instcoll.exe from http://service.sap.com/notes--> note# 600027 and 6086512. Copy instcoll.exe to c:\.

3. Double-click instcoll.exe. A Command prompt will open.

4. Enter  Y in the prompt for This server is ready for the installation of 

SQL_Latin1_General_CP850_BIN2 Continue? (y/n)prompt.

5. Look for the dialog in the command prompt.Default collation successfully changed.Recovery Complete.SQL global counter collection task is creation.Close the Command prompt window.

1.3.4 Result

Microsoft SQL Server is ready for Enterprise Portal installation.

1.4 Download Software for Strong CryptographyThe portal supports a strong encryption method, which enables you to work in a secure environment, suchas using HTTPS protocol.

The strong encryption requires two packages: one file from SUN and the other from the SAP Securitydownload area.

It is possible to install the portal with low encryption method, but is not recommended. If you are planningto do so, skip this procedure.

Download SAP JAVA Cryptographic Toolkit

1. Download the SAP JAVA Cryptographic Toolkit from SAP Security area at:http://service.sap.com/download → SAP Cryptographic Software → SAP JAVA Crypto Toolkit 

(J2EE Engine as of Release 6.30)

2. Make sure that you have downloaded the following file:tc_sec_java_crypto_signed_fs_lib.sd1...

Download the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE)

1. Access the SUN site at: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

2. Download theJava Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files 1.4.2 

3. Make sure that you have downloaded the following file: jce_policy-1_4_2.zip.

2 Installing Enterprise Portal

2.1 Purpose

  This section guides you through the steps for installing SAP NetWeaver Enterprise Portal 2004s andthe latest patches on Windows 2003 with SQL Server 2000.

Prerequisites

SAP Enterprise Portal has the following hardware and software requirements:

2.2 Install J2EE Engine

Install the AS Java usage type using the following documents:

1. SAP NetWeaver 2004s.

2. Technical Infrastructure Guide

3. SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java on Windows for MS SQL Server 

2.3 Install Portal Platform

Install the Enterprise Portal usage type using the following documents:

3 Post Installation Tasks

3.1 Apply License to Enterprise Portal

Start the Visual Administrator:

.1 From the Portal server, navigate to theJ2EE Admin folder .

.2 Double-click go.bat .

.3 The J2EE Visual Admin will open in a new window. From the toolbar of the J2EE Visual Admin,choose Connect Login.

.4 Choose the New button.

.5 In Create a new Connection dialog box, enter a display name. SelectDirect Connection to aDispatcher Node radio button.

.9 Enter your   password and choose Connect .

.10 Navigate to Server Services Licensing Adapter  .

.11 Make note of your  Hardware Key from the step above.

.12 You need to request a license key from SAP Service Marketplace. To do this, open InternetExplorer and enter http://service.sap.com/licensekeys.

.13 Select mySAP Busines Suite from the left navigation.

.14 Choose the Request License Key link.

.15 Choose the link corresponding to the EP Install, then enter the required values:

.16 Enter the Hardware Key you copied.

.17 Choose Save New Item button.

.18 Choose Submit Request button.

.19 When you receive your key, copy and paste it intoNotepad (or another text editor) and save it toyour hard drive as EP6.txt .

Install the License Key to the J2EE Engine

.20 Return to the Visual Administrator screen where you copied the Hardware Key inServices  Licensing Adapter .

.21 Choose the Install License from file button.

.22 Choose the Browse button and navigate to theEP6.txt file.

3.2 Apply Patches

3.2.1 Download Latest Patches

.1 To download patches, visit the Service Marketplace athttp://service.sap.com/patches.

.2 Log in with your S-User .

.3 Choose Entry by Application Group SAP NetWeaver  Support Packages and Patches  SAP NetWeaver  SAP NETWEAVER 

.4 Save the file to a location on your hard drive (for example, C:\downloads)

3.2.1.1 Download SAPCAR to extract files

1. Go to http://service.sap.com/patches.

2. Login with your S-user .

3. Choose Entry by Application Group Technology Components SAPCAR SAPCAR 6.40   Windows Server on IA32 32bit 

4. Right-click the link to the SAPCAR file.

5. Choose Save Target As.

6. Save the file to the same location where you saved the patch files.

3.2.1.2 Extract patches

1. From Windows, chooseStart Run .

2. On the Run dialog box, in the Open field, enter cmd and choose OK .

3. At the command prompt, enter cd \ and choose Enter to change the current path to the drive

root.

4. Go to the folder where you savede the SAPCAR files. To do this, enter cd and the folder name

(with a space in between) where you saved the files (for examplecd downloads).

5. Type sapcar –vxf EP6023HF_4-10002292.sar. A list of files will be extracted to the samedirectory.

6. Create a new folder in this directory (that isC:\downloads\patch2 ) and move the files created intothis new subdirectory.

3.2.2 Install Patches with the Software Deployment Manager (SDM)

Prerequisites

The J2EE Engine must be running.

3.2.2.1 Open the SDM tool

1. Navigate to the install directory of the Portal C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC01\SDM\program.

2. Double-click StartServer.bat .

3. Double-click RemoteGui.bat to start the SDM.

4. Choose the Connect button in the upper-left corner .

5. Enter the password for the SDM . This was set during the J2EE installation.

6. The SAP – Software Deployment Manager GUI screen displays after a successful connection.

7. Choose the Deployment tab.

8. Choose the Add SCA/SDA to Deployment List button.

9.  Add the SDA files that you downloaded and extracted in the previous step.

10.To expand the options, select the arrow located in the bottom-right corner and select theUpdateDeployed SDAs/SCAs that have any version radio button.

11.Choose Next twice.

12.Verify all the SDAs that were chosen in the previous steps are located in the left pane. If all theSDAs are present, choose Start . If not, choose Back and repeat steps from step 7.

13.Once the SDAs have been deployed, you will receive a successful message in the right pane.

Restart the J2EE system after the deployment

1. From the installed machine’s desktop, chooseStart → Programs →

SAP Management console.

2. Right-click on your system name and chooseStop. Wait for thesystem you selected to turn gray.

3. Right-click on your system name and chooseStart . Wait for thesystem you selected to turn green.
