She says: "Megan Rix is my favourite author because when you first start to read her books you get captivated as she has a very creative style of writing that isn't only for children but for all ages. I set my mum a challenge to read one of Megan Rix's in her spare time and I gave her my favourite one, The Paw House. It is my personal favourite as it is the first I had read by Megan, so I always loved it. I love them all the same, it's just I read The Paw House first- you know the feeling, right? Overall, have a happy lockdown and see you all once the quarantine is over!" Jules’ favourite book is The Darkest Minds. He says, “It's moving, intriguing and inspirational. It is a survival story. Some More Recommendations from Newsletter Newbies! Lily: The Land of Stories. "I love the Land of Stories series. There are 6 books and the author is

very clever combining all the fairytales into gripping stories of magic and adventure”.

Harry: The House with Chicken Legs. "This book is filled with wonders of the world! It's so good, I

never want to stop reading it. I love the author, who also wrote another one of my favourite

books - The Girl who Speaks Bear”.

Yasmin: She chose The Princess Blankets, which is one of our school’s chosen texts (so it must be

good!!).

Emma: Her favourite book is Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone. Emma enjoyed the movie

& loves magic so it’s a perfect fit!

Rion: He is reading Fantastic Mr Fox, by Roald Dahl.

Sophia: She really enjoys reading Roald Dahl’s books as she likes his writing style. She recently

read The Twits in one day, followed by George’s Marvellous Medicine which she read in just

one evening!

We love your photos! Seeing the variety of what you love to read will help us choose more books for your Learning Lounges in each classroom when we all come back to school!

Konstantinos has undertaken the very demanding Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien

that he loves! His favourite part is the lord of the eagles as he is a fervent

fan of eagles - he motivated his family to go eagle watching in Scotland

during half term in October! He also loves Bilbo and his journey and how

Gollum is after him to eat him!

Tenzin loves reading animal books. Currently, he is reading An Anthology

of Intriguing Animals. He likes this animal book because it answers lots of his

animal questions and he enjoys learning a variety of animal information.

Kaan says Danny the Champion of the World by Roald Dahl is a very funny

and exciting book about Danny and his father. Danny's father loves

poaching, and even though it's considered as a crime in real life, the book

makes it sound like a sport. Danny and his father find a way to poach over

100 roosting pheasants in one night!

Ayaan’s favourite book is The Twits by Roald Dahl, because “I find this book very

funny, especially the part where Mr Twit tries to grab the boys who are all stuck in

the tree branch, they unbutton their pants and slip out of them falling to the

ground. The boys all run home with their naked bottoms!! I also love the part

where Mrs Twit tries to get revenge on her husband by slipping her glass eye into

his beer mug which made him jump!

Ayaan’s father Benjamin’s favourite book is about Ayrton Senna, who was a

Formula 1 driver. Benjamin says, “I love this book because I dream of being a F1

driver and Senna is my hero!!”

Rose: The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Rebels There. “It’s a bit spooky and scary but,

what I like the most is its interesting words and wonderful adventures with wacky creatures that I've

never heard of before!”

Emma: My Pooping Puppy by Joshua McManus. Emma always wants a puppy but she doesn't like

cleaning poop! Therefore the story echoes her thoughts!

Fuma: He is reading The BFG after he was turned onto Roald Dahl by reading Charlie And The

Chocolate Factory at school.

Isaac: SAS Ghost Patrol, by Damien Lewis. He says it gives him an insight into the Second World War,

which he is very interested in!

Omar is reading Diary Of A Wimpy Kid and Nahla is reading The Wizard Of Oz.

Nahla reading The Wizard Of Oz, by Frank Baum.

MORE FAVOURITE READING MATTER!!!

Eleftheria: One of my favourite books is Michael Bond’s, It Wasn’t Me. I have

found it very funny and the main character, Harry, reminds me of myself as

he enjoys daydreaming sometimes! I have laughed a lot with Harry’s

naughtiness as I can also be naughty occasionally! Elektra: Howl’s Moving Castle because of its unexpected twists. Midnight

Gang because it’s full of adventures and fun. Coralline by Neil Gaiman

whose mystery and twists makes it a page turner. We discussed character

actions and the results of their decisions, motives as well as the adaptation

from book to screen after watching Howl’s Moving Castle and Coralline

animations.

If you want to find out what else everyone has been up to, this is the place to look! All sorts

of baking is still happening, but we can see many of you are carrying out many other

inspiring activities from your Learning Packs and for your projects! Can you find yourself here? If not, send something in next week! We love to see you all!

What is the newest thing you’ve learned to do because of the strange circumstances we find ourselves in? We found this story extremely impressive!

Instead of whining that they can’t be with each

other to play in person, Emma and Hana had an

amazing virtual playdate over Zoom today. The

girls decided to get creative and design a

puppet show from scratch based on Little Red

Riding Hood. They each created their very own

puppets/backdrops/stage from scratch. Over a

split screen Zoom meeting (so we could see both

stages) and in front of parents/siblings, the girls

performed the puppet show - Hana performed

the first act and Emma performed the other half

of the play.

Well done girls!!
