My possible career choices

Choice#1Forest firefighter
• I would like to be able to help people
• I have always been fascinated by fire
• I would to help save our forests
Physical training
• Stretching lifting and pulling
• Exerting yourself for a long period of time
• Using lower and upper back at the same time
• Working abdominals
Work conditions
You will have irregular work hours
Shifts can be 12 on 12 off
Over night traveling may occur
Weekend work may occur
• In California the average annual wage is $53,930
• In the U.S. it is lower with an average of $38,280
• They make anywhere from $15.00 to $35.00 an hour
Education requirements
• You need to go to high school then you must have on the job training
• Possible courses beyond high school is forest technology, fire science/fire fighting
Choice#2Fire investigator
• They find out how a fire started
• They look at explosives and investigate
Physical Training
• Carrying 20 –50 lbs. Loads
• Standing most of the time
• Most of the training that firefighters have to do
salary
• California makes 66k a year
• U.S. makes 47k a year
• Money will differ in different places
Work conditions and hours
• Irregular hours
• Weekend work
• Overnight work
• Outside most time
• Looking at small objects
• On feet most the time
