On 15 February, 2017 Union Cabinet approved

merger of Associate Banks including State Bank of

Mysore. Hon'ble Finance Minister announced that

the merger would take place during first week of

April, 2017. Members of Mysore Bank family were

hoping against hope that the merger would take

place only during 2018. Some even believed that

merger may not take place. But, Government's order

was notified on 23rd February, 2017 with merger

date as 1st April, 2017.

State Bank of Mysore is entering pages of History on

the 1st April, 2017. Successful saga of One hundred

three years and one hundred eighty one days of service

comes to an end. A great institution which changed

lives of lakhs of people would not be there on 1st April.

Names of Dr. Sir M. Visveshwaraiah and

H. E. Shri Nalwadi Krishna Raja Charamaraj Wodeyars,

the founders of our Bank would not be invoked in

future. Founding fathers of Namma beloved Bank

never imagined that the Bank would not be in

existence after 103 years. Another organisation

founded by Dr Sir M. Visveshwaraiah would cease to

exist. Certainly painful to hear that the Bank in which

members of our Commune served for decades would

not be in existence, as Mysore Bank from 1st April 2017.

Bank, Mysore Bank and State Bank of Mysore. It

would be endeavour of every one who belonged to

Mysore Bank family to join the hands of State Bank of

Mysore Commune in keeping name and legacy of

State Bank of Mysore alive for a very long time.

There are many areas where Associate Bank Retirees need clarity. They have not yet been told about the Benefits / facilities that are available to retirees / pensioners in State Bank of India. In case of need, whom to contact. What is the future of REMBS, post-merger? Many such questions are lingering in the minds of Associate Bank Retirees / Pensioners. Now, Associate Banks' Department at Corporate Centre, State Bank of India, Mumbai is organising a meeting of representatives of all Retirees' Organisations at Gurugram on the 22nd March, 2017. Details of the discussion would be reported in the next issue of Mysore Bank Shathayu.

Our Commune organised a Seminar on merger of

Associate Banks with SBI - Employees' perspective on

the 11th March, 2017 at Dr. H N Kalakshetra,

Jayanagar 7th Block, Bengaluru. Our Commune

could reach every employee of State Bank of Mysore.

Over 700 employees attended this program. Speech by Shri T A Padmanabhan, Chief General Manager (Retd), who was in both State Bank of Saurashtra and State Bank of Indore, when these Banks were merged with State Bank of India and Shri Vijaya Raghavan, DGM (Rtd) from State Bank of India, but originally from State Bank of Saurashtra shared their experiences at the time of merger and thereafter. A presentation on Terminal Benefits in State Bank of India and in State Bank of Mysore was made, duly informing the details of the benefits in terms of numbers. Representatives of the Unions and Association were also present.

Perhaps, this may be the first such an programme by a Bank Retirees' Organisation where benefits to present employees was conducted. The feedback and response are tremendous.

An Excel file can be downloaded from our Website (www.sbmpensioners.in – downloads), which helps in understanding the terminal benefits in Associate Banks and State Bank of India.

Currently, our Pension Records of our Bank

pensioners are maintained at Head Office of our

Bank. But, Pension Records of Associate Bank

Pensioners would be transferred to controlling Circle

Office of State Bank of India, immediately after

merger. For example, if a Pensioner from our Bank is

drawing pension from Salem, Pension Records would

be transferred to Chennai Circle Office. Therefore,

members of our Commune who are drawing pension

from the Branch which is situated in a different State

from the State in which he is staying, are advised to

get their account transferred to nearest Branch,

immediately.

Retirees of our Bank are residing in large numbers in 16 Districts of Karnataka. In many of the Districts, the number of our members exceeds the total number of retirees of all other Banks residing in these Districts.

Transfer of Savings Bank account :

Hassan District Committee formed on 02.03.2017

Hassan is one such District, where members of our Commune are in large numbers.

Our Hassan District Committee was formed in a meeting held on 02-03-2017 at Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Hassan. Over 90 of our members were present. Shri. K. M. Range Gowda, Shri. D. Bore Gowda & Shri. H. P. Parshwanathaiah are elected as Chairman, President and General Secretary of the Committee respectively. Various other office Bearers were also elected.

Our Commune had organised Workshop on 'Right to

Property' and 'Controlling your Assets after you'. Full

information regarding 'Will' was also provided in

these seminars. The need for execution of Will was

also emphasised. It was also informed about

limitation of 'Nomination'.

Society is not as before. Nuclear families have

replaced Joint families now. The bondage which was

in existence earlier is missing today. Children of many

have become NRIs. Now, ideas regarding changing

hands have changed. But, the way assets are

distributed has also undergone a change. New

scenario also demands change in the way one should

pass on their assets.

In order to guide members of our Commune, a draft

of 'Will' prepared and published by State Bank of

India, Bhopal Circle is provided, hereunder. Every

'Will' should have two witnesses and Registration of

the Will is not mandatory. But, for abundant

precaution, it is suggested that Will should be

registered. There is no restriction on the number of

times 'Will' is executed or altered. But, the last 'Will'

before the demise is valid.

This is being circulated on the condition and

undertaking that information, comments and views it

contains are merely for guidance and reference must

not be taken as having the authority of or being in

binding in any way on the State Bank of Mysore

Pensioners Commune who do not owe any

responsibility whatsoever.

An Appeal to Employees’ & Officers

State Bank of MysoreDear friends,

This Communication is from State Bank of Mysore Pensioners' Commune, the largest Retirees' Organisation in Associate Banks.

After years of anxiety, uncertainty, expectations and prayers, the wait is over and process of merger of Associate Banks with State Bank of India is in the final stage. The date on which our Bank ceases to exist is announced. On 1st April, 2017 our Bank, Mysore Bank would be a part of the history. Our Bank, which was also My Bank helped us in taking care of our parents, securing a good wife/husband, very good education to children, an house, a Car and lot of things were on account of our Bank, Mysore Bank. This organisation which had given us everything would not be thereon the 1st April. We feel sad.

But, our Commune has undertaken to keep afloat, the banner of our Bank, Mysore Bank.

We, at Commune, are aware that those who are in service cannot be a part of a Retirees' Organisation. But, we want you to be a part of Mysore Bank family. We request you to be a member of Mysore Bank Welfare Trust. Every employee who becomes a member of Mysore Bank Welfare Trust, would become a member of our Commune, State Bank of Mysore Pensioners' Commune automatically, upon retirement from the service. Till such time, he remains a member of Mysore Bank Welfare Trust.

At present, State Bank of India does not have 'Shradhaanjali' Scheme. But, Mysore Bank Welfare Trust would ensure continuation of this benefit through its 'Shradhaanjali' Scheme, upon merger of our Bank with State Bank of India. 'Shradhaanjali' Scheme in our Bank provides for payment of Rs.15,000/- to next kin upon death of Mysore Bank Employee/Retiree. Next kin of every member of Mysore Bank Welfare Trust is entitled to receive Rs.15,000/- upon death of its member. Upon retirement from Services of the Bank, such members would become a member of our Commune. With this, everyone who is/was a part of our Bank, State Bank of Mysore continues bondage, while working for the Bank or after retirement from the Services of the Bank.

Everyone who is a member of Mysore Bank Welfare Trust is also invited to 'Mysore Bank Day' celebrations on the

foundation day of our Bank, My Bank, i.e on the 2nd October, every year. This provides an occasion to meet those who were members of this 'Mysore Bank family' and chew pleasant memories.

We request you to become a part of this 'Mysore Bank family' by becoming a member of Mysore Bank Welfare Trust.

Thanking you,

With regards,

Your friends who retiredfrom namma Bank, Mysore Bank, earlier
