MULYAN PUBLIC SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Dear Parents, Thank you to everyone who supported our Art and Craft Show, “Mulyan by Hand” last Friday. The quality and variety of work that was on display was outstanding. It always amazes me the creativity and ingenuity of our very talented teachers and students. We had a large number of people go through the VTS to look at and purchase the majority of the children’s work. It was lovely to see the pride and pleasure on all of the children’s faces as they showed off their work to their equally proud parents. The Art and Craft Show is a way for us to highlight the creative and practical art work of our students and is never meant to be a fundraiser. In fact, the amount that was raised on the night does not cover the outlay for materials, equipment etc. Having said all that, the sale of the items did raise over $2,700. Thank you once again to everyone who supported this event. This is the last newsletter for Term 3 2014 and I would like to thank everyone on behalf of all the staff and students for the wonderful support and assistance that is provided by the parents and carers of all of our students. Without this assistance, we would not be able to provide the many wonderful programs that we do. I hope that everyone has a very restful and relaxing holiday and is prepared for a very busy last term of the 2014 school year. Please also note that the first day of Term 4 with be Tuesday, 7th October as the Monday is a public holiday. If you are visiting the Cowra Show this afternoon, please pop in and view our display. We are just inside the main entrance to the pavilion. We have highlighted the great work and the variety of work that students at our school do. We have lots of pictures as well as work samples and even some items from our Art and Craft Show. Today, Mrs Johnson and 25 Stage 2 students travelled out to Riverslea Station Woolshed to take part in the very first Archikidz Goes Bush event in NSW. Our students, along with 25 other students from Cowra and district were able to work with professional architects, urban designers and university students to design and create shelters for the future. Tomorrow, Mrs Wilson and 25 Stage 3 students will have their turn to do something similar. I am looking forward to seeing the finished products. This is a wonderful opportunity for students from regional areas to take part in an activity that has only been available to city children before. Hopefully, by taking part in this event, we can unearth a few future architects and designers. On Monday, 15th September our school’s champion spellers will travel to Raglan Public School to take part in the Western Finals of the Premier’s Spelling Bee. They will have a “spell-off” against champion spellers from schools in Bathurst, Orange and other parts of the Western area to determine the champion speller to go to Sydney to represent the West early next term. Our champions have been practising long and hard and have really put a great deal of effort to learn as many words as they can. Thank you to Mrs Ryan for coaching them. Good luck to Kyle O’Brien, Harley Day, Cooper Melhuish and Tom Negus. I know the boys will represent our school with great distinction. Next week, we have 21 students travelling to Sydney to take part in the State Dance Festival. They will be accompanied by Mrs Apps and Mrs Beale. They will be performing with other dance ensembles from right across the state. I know that our girls and boys will get a great deal from taking part in this festival. Thank you also to the parents who have supported these students. Thank you to Mrs Alison Buckley who has spent a great deal of time training and rehearsing our ensemble. We look forward to hearing about their experiences. During the first couple of weeks of Term 4, both Mrs Statham and my self will be on leave. Mrs Statham will be on leave from Monday 15th September till Friday, 17th October. During this time, her class will be taught by Mrs Grant (15-19th September) and Ms O’Malley (8-17th October) From Tuesday, 7th October till Thursday, 30th October I will be on leave. During this time, Mrs Cummings will be Relieving Principal and her class will be taught by Mrs Morgan. Till next fortnight John Smith Principal Term 3~ Week 9 www.
