The Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C. overprinted 1500 sheets of 200 to make up the order for 300,000 stamps for the Canal Zone. Four plate numbers were used, #18570, 18577, 18582 and 18583. Most ofthe top margin was cut off causing only halfofthe plate number remaining in order for the sheet to fit in the press for overprinting CANAL ZONE.

Most of the top margin is cut off causing only half of the plate number to remain in order for the sheet to fit the press before overprinting CANAL ZONE by the BEP.
Left plate number cut off about 50% as the press didn' t make full contact with the sheet, below plate number block of 4 sheet did make full contact like right and bottom margins of sheet.

Most of the top margin is cut off causing only half of the plate number to remain in order for the sheet to fit the press before overprinting CANAL ZONE by the BEP.

On Tuesday July 6 the following post offices opened and sold and cancelled these stamps. Ancon, Balboa, Balboa Heights, Cristobal, Corozal, Gatun and Pedro Miguel.

Epilogue
A large percentage of these stamps were sold to collectors and dealers, very few were used and by Dec. 1926 all if not most of the Canal Zone Post Offices were sold out of these stamps.
