2GMD 44 SELECT*Ideal for small farms, the GMD 44 Select, designed for operation with low horsepower tractors, has been developed fromthe same technology used to create the“top-of-the-range” models. Its workingwidth is of 1.60 m (5’3’’). For transport,this model is equipped with a vertical liftcrank or a hydraulically controlled liftdepending on the customer’s request.

They all have the same qualities... Only the working widths vary!

GMD 55 SELECTA particular feature of the GMD 55 SelectMultidisc Mower, with a working width of2 m (6’7’’), is that the two inner discsrotate in the same direction. This forms aslightly narrower swath so that the tractortyres do not run over the cut crop.

GMD 66 SELECTThis 6 disc multidisc mower has a working width of 2.40 m (7’10’’) for ahigh output. The forged large-diameterpinion gears and high-capacity bearingsused on MULTIDISC MOWERS of thisseries meet the strictest requirements interms of endurance and reliability.

GMD 77HD SELECT*With a working width of 2.80 m (9'2"),this Heavy-Duty 7-disc mower is designed to efficiently cut larger fieldsand may be operated by most mediumhorsepower tractors. Upgrades over thestandard SELECT mowers include discpinions fitted with heavy-duty, doubleangular contact, ball bearings andheavy-duty discs designed for long life inabrasive soil conditions.- Reinforced disc bearing housings.* Not all models are available in all countries.For improved stability, lower parking stand when parking the machine

High quality blades, meeting very strict safety standards! Their helical shape ensures a clear cutting. The quality of the blades is certified by the KUHNdiamond logo engraved in the metal.

Large diameter forged gearwheels and drive pinions for high performance and time proven durability even in adverse conditions.

Disc pinion shafts are mounted on robust ball bearings located in cast monobloc housings.

No risks of wear or distortion: Idler gear fasteners are located in heattreated steel cups welded to the gear pans.

A completely sealed cutterbar. Thick diameter O-ring for the cutterbar gearcase and seal rail between both cutterbar pans (no paper gasket or instant sealingcompound is used).

Discs are secured by a self-locking nut to the splined pinion shaft(no fastening by roll pins to smooth shafts)

For your safety, the blades of a KUHN multidisc mower are securedwith heavy bolts made of heat treated steel, and not by a “quick fitting” system. Located inside steel cups welded to the discs, knife fixation nuts areperfectly protected from wear.

What’s important is what’sinside. Some disc mowersmay look like KUHN multidisc mowers from theoutside but what’s inside is the most important.When choosing a discmower, check on whatcannot be seen from theoutside. As time goes by, a cheap machine can proveto be the most expensivepurchase ever made.

A. Compact mower unit

With its low profile design, the cutterbarcuts an even crop whatever the density.

B. Oval discs with ribbed profile

Oval discs have several advantages:higher efficiency in the removal of cutgrass, maximum knive overlap for aclean and even mowing action, almost norisk of a foreign material getting jammedbetween two discs.

C. Deflector shields

Deflector shields are fitted between thedisc guards. A knife deformed towardsthe bottom will not cut into the cutterbargearcase.

D. Protective disc guards and outer skids

Disc guards made of heat-treated steelprotect the discs. The cutterbar is keptaway from the ground’s abrasive elements by the skid shoes of the discguards.

Belt drive

A set of V-belts transmits power to thebevel gearbox. The bearing housing ofthe main pulley includes an easily acces-sible belt tensioner (for better illustrationthe belt guard has been removed).

Follow contours

The articulated cutting unit followsground contours with maximum accuracy, even when mowing banks orditches.

Suspension spring

The suspension spring allows accurateadaptation of cutterbar flotation toground conditions.The flotation spring tension is determinedby adjusting the main frame height usingthe tractor’s 3 point lift.

Safety breakawaymechanism

Should an obstacle be struck, the safetybreakaway causes the mower unit toswing slightly backwards. The impact issignificantly reduced. The device is resetsimply by reversing.

Cutterbar lift

All KUHN disc mowers feature a hydraulic cutterbar lift cylinder. The GMD 44 SELECT can also be supplied with a crank for mechanical lifting!

Compact transport dimensions

For road transport, the front safety coveris folded up and the cutterbar is raised tothe vertical position. This minimises transport width and transfers the machine’s centre of gravityclose to the tractor. The machine forms acompact unit with the tractor without restricting visibility to the rear. A lockingrod secures the cutterbar in vertical position.

6Disc guards with high skidsshoes

For increased cutting heights, special discguards with high skid shoes are available for all the GMD SELECT multidisc mowers.

Extended swathboards

In certain circumstances where swathwidths need to be reduced, such as whena narrow pickup follows the mower,extended swathboards are available.

Additional cones (GMD 55 Selectand GMD 77HD Select)

The GMD 55 Select swath width can bereduced by approx. 300 mm (1’) in highdensity crops by replacing the seconddisc by a cone.

PTO shaft with overrunningclutch

Use of a PTO shaft with overrunning clutch is recommended if the Mower isattached to a tractor with an automaticPTO brake.Standard on GMD 77HD Select.

Lighting and signalling

For increased safety when travelling,consider fitting a lighting and signallingequipment on the mower.
