Dear Parents, Guardians, Students &
Community members,
Graduation, graduation, graduation! Everyone is
getting very excited about this upcoming event and
our Year 6 students are busily planning their hall
decorations.
Invitations will be sent home shortly as well as a
note for our year 5 and 6 parents regarding the set
up.
Bush Fires
As we all know, we are in the midst of an extreme
bush fire situation, with many places continuing to
go through these horrific events.
On Monday, a directive was sent out from the De-
partment of Education regarding students in the
current smoky conditions. A copy of this letter sent
to us attached.
Due to this directive, we will be assessing the con-
ditions each day and making careful consideration
of whether the students will be playing outside
whilst at school.
Melbourne Cup Free Dress
It was wonderful to see most of our students in
their finery for our Melbourne Cup Free Dress day.
Please check out the photos further on in the news-
letter.
Remembrance day
On Monday the 11th of November, our school
leaders, Claire and Logan led our Remembrance
Day parade. Thank you to all our students for the
wonderful respect they showed during this parade.
Charlies visit.
Yesterday Charlie, the Darwin Carpet Python ,came
for a visit to school to assist us with our snake safe-
ty talk. Everyone, even Mrs Schimke, was very
brave and either held him or gave him a pat.
Pre-Prep and open days
Our last pre-prep and open wil be held on Wednes-
day the 20th of November, from 9.00am to
11.30am.
These days are open to any age student who may
be interested in joining our school community in
2020.
Year 6 High School transition.
Claire, Logan, James and Bradley all had a fabulous
day at their first Year 7 orientation.
I know they are all looking forward to the second,
to be held on Friday the 29th of October.
Olympics Unleashed.
Next Monday, the 18th of November, we will be
having a visit from Hannah Joye (high jumper, as
part of the Olympics Unleashed program.
This program is taking our Olympians, Paralympi-ans and athletes aspiring to Tokyo 2020 out to pri-mary schools throughout Queensland to inspire and motivate students to be their personal best. The aim of the program is to encourage young Australians to pursue their passion, set goals and overcome challenges. The AOC have asked that parents sign a photog-raphy permission form, so that they may use pho-tos they take on the day. This form is attached to this newsletter. Swimming We have had a slight change to our swimming ses-sions for this term. The session that we were to miss on the 28th of November, due to a High School event, has been reinstated. Please remember to send your child swimming items on this day, as well as all others. Monto State High School Awards night. I was lucky enough o be invited to attend the Mon-to State High School award evening last Monday. As always it was wonderful to see so many of our past students. 14 of our 18 former students that remain at Monto High receiving awards. With Jes-sie Moscrop being named Cook Sports captain for 2020. On page 2 of this newsletter is a full list of students and their awards. A special mention also to Ethan Grubb. Ethan is
currently attending the Queensland Academy of
Creative Industries and received and Artistic Excel-
lence Award at their recent awards function
Congratulations to all these students for their 2109 awards.
Until next newsletter
