Principal Notes

Welcome back everyone. Another busy term has started and I would like to encourage full attendance where possible.

At Goodwood every day counts. If your child is away 1 day per fortnight it equates to 20 days per year, 4 weeks per year and nearly 1.5 years of missed schooling over the 13 years of their education. If your child is 10 minutes late every day it equates to 50 minutes per week, nearly 1.5 weeks per year and nearly half a year over the 13 years of schooling.

As the cooler months are approaching please ensure that all jumpers and long pants that your child wears to school are named.

Just a reminder that we have 2 public holidays this term: Monday 6 May is the Labour Day holiday and Thursday 30 May is the Bundaberg Show holiday. Goodwood School will also be participating in the Childers Show on Saturday 25 May with a display of our students’ story writing and art work. Please have a look at the beautiful work that our students produce at Goodwood.

Pop Up Playgroup We are also very pleased to announce that there will be a “pop up” playgroup at Goodwood SS on Wednesday 15 May from 9.30 – 11.30am. Please bring along your under school age child and have some fun. There will also be a “pop up” playgroup at Woodgate on Wednesday 21 August from 9.30am to 11.30am at the Woodgate Community Park. Please read the flyers attached to this newsletter.

Classroom Notices

Below is an extract from a thankyou letter which was sent to us from the Woodgate RSL Sub Branch: 1 May 2019 The Principal Goodwood State School MS 379 GOODWOOD QLD 4660 Dear Frank The Committee and Members of the Woodgate Beach RSL Sub Branch Inc wish to express our sincere thank you to both you and your students for the support you provided this ANZAC Day. Please let the children know how well they did at the Service. You should be very proud of their achievements. I received many comments from the audience about their presentation. (brings a lump to the throat) A special mention must go to your School Captains Tamalin and Thomas for attending the Flags. For the first time ever the Green and Gold houses tied for the Cross Country Shield.

P&C Notices

The P&C would like to thank everyone who helped on the day and those who supported the Easter Fair

and ANZAC day fundraisers it was very much appreciated. The P&C would like to also send out a

massive thank you to Woodgate Realty for the donation of the Easter Fair site and their donations

towards the ANZAC day BBQ.

Woolworths Earn and Learn - Last week Woolworths earn and learn booklets were sent home to each family

as the promotion starts on 1/5/2019 once booklets are full please return them to school. The more stickers we

collect the more equipment we can earn for the school. If you need more booklets please see Claudia

Containers for exchange program - Last term we were lucky enough to have received a donation of two bins

to make it easier to participate in the containers for exchange program. If anyone has containers with the 10c

symbol on them at home and would like to donate them to the P&C the collection bins are located under the

stairs leading to the office.

Ice blocks - Ice blocks will be on sale every Friday afternoon after school until further notice for $0.50

The money raised throughout the year goes towards the end of year event for the Yr 6 graduating students.

Uniform information

The P&C have reduced their prices on skorts and shorts. The sizes range from 4 – 12.

Skorts- $10.00 Shorts - $10.00 Shirts - $21.00 Hats - $12.00

Our uniform coordinator (Renee) will be available for uniform sales every Friday morning from 8:30 – 9:00am

Community Notices

Lego Display\Competition This year we are having a new display for children

Prep – Year 3 and

Years 4 to Year 6

SO, get cracking with your Lego and build something great that you can enter at this year’s

Childers Show.

Ask Mum or Dad nicely if they can bring in your Lego Masterpiece, on Friday 24th May before

6pm to go into the all new Lego Competition.

Make sure to include a piece of paper with your name, age and what your creation is!

Competition will be judged Friday night.

Open Category – build whatever you like….

Entry Fee: 50cents

Entry is limited to 1 build per child
