out – Thanks!Objective – Describe historical events
from the Progressive Era by muckrakers who exposed corruption and abuses in :

•urban conditions/ city lifeAs their duty to help others and society
Setting the stage• Name a problem, a real problem
either here at the junior high or in the community.
• Something that needs to really be fixed to help people.
• Record the item on the index card provided.
Organizing the problems
O Each side of the room share your problems on the cards.
O With the larger poster paper, work together to make catagories to sort out the problems.
O Write the names of the catagories and tape the cards onto the poster paper.
O Let’s share how and what we created.

O What is a muckraker ? O Let’s read over the chart of
muckrakers from this time period. O Also add to your charts any facts
that you feel you need to enrich your own facts.
