OUR PROJECTSdisability football our award-winning disability programme has grown into one of the largest in the premier league and provides on average 10 hours per week of free coaching opportunities for young people and adults with disabilities. the manchester united foundation currently has four ability counts squads and works in partnership with the manchester fa to run a disability ‘centre of excellence’ to encourage the more talented players into the england national squads.

hub of the community as a development of our football coaching for schools programme, the foundation has set up ‘hubs’ in secondary schools around the manchester, salford and trafford regions. football development officers are permanently based at these schools allowing a more long term relationship to be built with the local community and consistent provision of services for the young participants and their families.

girls football manchester united foundation fa girls centre of excellence provides opportunities for girls to train and play at the highest level, with the ultimate aim of developing them into international players. there are four age groups - under 10, 12, 14, 16. we also have an under 18 team who play in the cheshire and manchester girls u18 league.

something to chew on an interactive project aimed at teaching 7-8 year olds about their own health and well being. the programme recognises the need for sports organisations to work together to tackle rising obesity rates in england. the project is themed around food, nutrition and getting active and is the first of our ‘football and…’ projects in local schools.

KicKz this programme targets young people from some of the most disadvantaged areas who may otherwise be difficult to reach. using the appeal of professional football clubs, Kickz offers 12-18 year olds the chance to take part in positive activity 3 nights a week, 48 weeks of the year.

Manchester United has seven charity partners which benefit from the Foundation’s support.

The Christie, The Legacy Rainbow House, Francis House, Cystic Fibrosis, The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, The Children’s Society and UNICEF.

The support varies from funding for physiotherapy care for young cancer sufferers to purchasing equipment like parental beds. This is so that mums and dads can sleep next to their sick children and be there when they need them most.
