Theresa’s TimesDear Mt. Adams Residents,
Summer has arrived! As I write this article, the state of Ohio is very slowing re-opening from our governor’s stay-at-home order. I truly hope bar patios are filled with Mt. Adams residents soaking up the sun and enjoying a well-deserved happy hour beverage at a socially acceptable distance, of course. We are eagerly awaiting the opening of The Shadows pool since its winter renovation. If you have a pool key from seasons past, you can toss it, because we have added a new fob system for accessing the pool. I will be in touch on pool fob deliveries as soon as it is safe to open for the season. Don’t forget, The Shadows pool is available to all of Mt. Adams Towne Properties residents, not just those who live at the Shadows.
I hope we can have our annual resident summer boat party, but it seems like we are taking one day at a time. Many summer activities and events are being cancelled. I will continue to send emails with updates as info changes, so make sure to put “Towne Properties Asset Mgt Co” in your email address book so we don’t go to your spam folder.
What I can tell you is the leasing and maintenance staff are still here to continue to make your apartment your home! While the office building has been closed to outside visitors over the past two months, that doesn’t mean you can’t reach us. Feel free to email Abby Richter, our leasing professional at [email protected] or email me at [email protected]. Want to hear our voices? Call us at 513-751-2900 if you need anything. You can also submit non-emergency maintenance requests in your online portal.
I hope to see you all on The Hill soon sporting your face masks!

The Quarantine Chronicles!Think about what you would be doing on a Friday night two months ago versus now; crazy to think about, right? With the changing times, we have to find ways to have fun and interact with our friends, co-workers and family. During this time of social distancing, our leasing office staff have found fun things to do to keep busy! Abby has been painting, reading books and hiking with her pups! Theresa has been going on social distancing runs, doing puzzles, attending Mass from her couch, and doing Zoom dates with her college BFFs. We want to see what you did in quarantine. Send us some photos to be featured in the next newsletter!

Meet Our Residents Of The MonthLet’s meet Kyrylo and Iryna! They moved to Mt. Adams around a year ago but are originally from The Ukraine. Iryna was born in Donetsk, Ukraine, but moved to Sumy, Ukraine, when she was nine years old. Kyrylo was born in Sumy, so they both grew up in the same town. Kyrylo and Iryna moved to Cincinnati for Kyrylo’s job, which is located downtown. They love how close they are to downtown and even walk there sometimes! Kyrylo has a degree in Information Technology, while Iryna has a law degree. They have been together for 13 years and got married in 2011!
When they are not at work, they love exploring Cincinnati, working out, seeing movies and traveling. Traveling is by far their favorite pastime. Their last two trips were the best for the traveling pair. In September, the couple went to Alaska for three weeks. They were able to explore Alaskan wildlife, a lot of Alaskan national parks and also hike glaciers! Right before the Covid-19 outbreak in the USA and Mexico, the couple was able to take a trip to Mexico. They stayed in the small town of Quintana Roo. They were able to explore beaches, tropical rain forests and archaeological sites.
In the summer months, they love to travel as well. The duo has been to 13 countries! They also love walking around Mt. Adams and exploring the cute neighborhood.
If you see this pair around the hill, make sure to say hello!

Let’s go to the sea.

Check Out These Pets of the MonthSophie
Sophie is an 11-month-old Beagle/Olde English Bulldog mix who came into her forever home last November. She is incredibly affectionate and sweet!
Most of the day, Sophie enjoys napping around the apartment. When she wakes up, Sophie loves to play fetch, chew on loud squeaky toys, play tug-of-war and watch people from her balcony. Her favorite part of the day is taking her daily hike across Eden Park. On weekends, she enjoys trips to the dog park to play with friends and run free.
Sophie’s favorite treat is her Kong toy filled with peanut butter and other goodies.
Sophie is still being trained on some of her “on-walk” manners. She becomes so eager to play that she often comes to a complete stop during her walk, leaving her poor owner to drag her away.
Bender
Born on Aug. 30, 2019, in Los Angeles.
Named after Futurama and Harry Potter.
Was a wedding gift to his parents.
Took his first airplane ride in November to come to his new home in Mt. Adams, Cincinnati. Turns out he’s a Midwest dog at heart, as he loves the outdoors and the cold weather — if he could be outside all day, he would.
He is still trying new foods and recently tried carrots and apples, both of which he ate all up.
He understands but does not love social distancing, as he loves people and other animals. He is waiting for the day he can get random pets and belly rubs from people he meets on his walks (mostly with dad).
Follow his adventures on Instagram — @elbenderpug
Likes: Food, naps, toys, watching TV, music, Seattle Seahawks, and Los Angeles Dodgers
Dislikes: Being woken up, wiping his paws, and when his parents say “no” to him.

What’s New In Maintenance? This month’s edition of the Maintenance Corner is all about summer! Most of us are ditching the indoors (finally) for the warm sunny outdoors. Here are my top happy-at-home apartment tips.
1. Run the A/C before you actually need it. Nothing is worse than turning on the A/C and all you feel is a blast of hot air. Be sure to test the system before the warm days hit.
2. Avoid turning the A/C completely off. Instead, increase the temperature when you are away from home. Doing this will use less energy and save you money.
3. Be sure to run your dishwasher at least once a month to prevent any odors from forming within the base of the machine.
4. If your garbage disposal has an odor, you can use lime, lemon or any other citrus fruit to clean the blades and container. This will actually turn the disposal into a citrus fan. How cool is that!
5. BBQ Safety — Use extreme caution when using the grill at the pool. Never leave open grills or flames unattended. Be sure to check on food while cooking so it doesn’t burn or catch on fire.
6. There are more drivers on the road in the summer, especially on major holiday weekends like the Fourth of July. Make sure to be extra cautious while on the road, whether it be walking or driving, so you can return home safely.
7. Before taking your vacation, make sure you get to know your neighbors and let them know when you will be out of town. A neighbor can keep an eye on your apartment and check on it if there are any suspicious noises or people lurking around. A neighbor can also receive packages and mail for you while you’re gone so nothing piles up and signals that you’re away.
8. Keeping your blinds closed during the day allows your apartment to stay cooler on hot, summer days.
SUMMER SAFETY TIPS FOR YOUR PETS
Your pets are just as excited for summer as you are! Temperatures are rising, so it’s important to keep an eye on your furry
friends to make sure they’re happy and healthy.
1. Never leave your pet in the car, even if you are running into a store for just a few minutes. Leaving the windows down doesn’t do as much as you think. In just 10 minutes, temperatures can elevate up to 102 degrees.
2. Stick to grass instead of hot sidewalks and asphalt.
3. Know the symptoms of a heat stoke. Drooling, mild weakness, difficulty breathing, excessive panting, vomit and seizures are a few symptoms to recognize. If you see these types of signs, get your pet into a cool area and use towels or ice packs to bring their temperature down.
4. Make sure there are no poisonous plants or flowers they could get into while out on a walk or in your backyard. Lilies, tulips, English ivy and chrysanthemums are a few blooms that are dangerous to both cats and dogs.
Most importantly, summer is here! Get ready for Saturday afternoons by the pool, driving with the windows down and that hot, hot sun.
These methods are easy, efficient and invaluable. Give them a try, and you will be forever grateful you did.
Stay cool, friends!
