For those with an associate degree or other college credit, MSOE provides a convenient way to complete abachelor’s degree*. MSOE values your prior academic accomplishments and most students with an associate degreeare granted junior standing. You can complete any of these degrees through evening classes. In some cases, you willbe able to take weekend and online classes.

When applying for these degrees, your college transcripts are evaluated and you will be given credit for coursestaken at a technical college or other institution. You will be provided with a curriculum track to follow for graduationin as little time as possible.

Bachelor of Science inBusiness Management (BSBM)

The business management degree combines business withtechnology – how to use it and how to manage it in businesssettings. You will learn management fundamentals and developskills to use technology to create management solutions and newbusiness models. It is an especially attractive option for thoseconsidering a career change, or who have found their career pathlimited by the lack of a formal degree in a business-related field.Those studying full-time can complete the degree in two years byattending classes two nights per week and an occasional Saturday.Some classes are offered that combine Internet instruction withclassroom interaction.

Bachelor of Science in ElectricalEngineering Technology (BSEET)

This degree is designed for those who seek a bachelor of sciencedegree with an electrical and electronics emphasis. It appeals tothose who learn best by experiencing what they are learning, whoprefer the use of specific examples to help them learn generalconcepts and who favor physical concepts to clarify mathematics.Graduates with this degree may develop and design products andcomponents, function as productive members of engineeringteams, work with applications of components and systems,engage in field service or technical sales, and be involved withthe manufacturing, testing or quality assurance of products.MSOE has agreements with several two-year colleges inWisconsin and Illinois that grant students junior standing whenenrolling at MSOE.

Bachelor of Science inEngineering (BSE)

MSOE is the only university in the state where you can earn anengineering degree entirely through evening courses. It presents aunique opportunity, especially for those with no previousengineering course work, for individuals to enhance theirknowledge and professional qualifications with an engineeringdegree. Those with previous education, such as earned credits ina non-engineering bachelor’s degree program or an associatedegree in a pre-engineering or technology program, will find it asimple way to complete an engineering degree at MSOE.

Bachelor of Science inManagement InformationSystems (BSMIS+�)

The MIS degree appeals to those with a CIS or IT associatedegree from a technical college. Those with an MIS degree are inhigh demand as computer systems analysts, networkadministrators, e-business developers, IT project managers andsoftware developers, to name just a few opportunities. For thosewho work full time, we offer a two-year track that involvesattending classes two nights per week and an occasional Saturday.

Bachelor of Science inMechanical EngineeringTechnology (BSMET)

MSOE's MET program places a strong emphasis on design,applications and hands-on laboratory experimentation. Thedegree prepares graduates for greater responsibility in the areas ofproduct development, manufacturing and related fields. It isdesigned to accommodate transfer students, especially those withassociate degrees in mechanical design and related fields. Theprogram is offered in the evenings only, and is designed forworking, part-time students.

Master of Science inConstruction and BusinessManagement (MSCBM)

With this degree professionals in the construction industrywill develop the leadership skills necessary to compete in theever-changing and highly competitive construction managementenvironment. It provides students with advanced tools andunderstanding in construction project administration andbusiness management. Courses are focused on businessdevelopment, new and emerging technologies for constructionand project delivery systems, and executive administration ofconstruction firms. Master of Science inEngineering (MSE)

This degree enables engineering professionals to further theirproblem-solving skills through the application of advancedengineering principles and methods. This is the MBA for engineers. Master of Science in EnvironmentalEngineering (MSEV)

This degree was developed and tailored to the student whoalready has a bachelor of science degree in one of the traditionalengineering disciplines such as architectural, chemical, civil ormechanical, but who has had limited training in environmentalengineering. The MSEV degree provides students withinstruction in both environmental systems design andenvironmental management principles. Students graduate withthe skills necessary to launch successful careers as engineers andmanagers in either the public or private sector.

This is a technology-oriented leadership program designed tomeet the needs of engineers, business managers and otherprofessional and technical persons desiring to strengthen theirmanagement and leadership skills specifically relating to the value-added exporting of U.S. manufactured products, services andtechnology. Master of Science in MedicalInformatics (MSMI)

This joint degree combines the medical research and educationof the Medical College of Wisconsin and MSOE’s business andinformation technology expertise. It prepares professionals toparticipate in and lead multidisciplinary teams in thedevelopment, implementation and management of informationtechnology solutions in health care. Medical informatics is theapplied science at the junction of the disciplines of medicine,business and information technology, which supports the healthcare delivery process and promotes measurable improvements inboth quality of care and cost-effectiveness. Master of Science in NewProduct Management (MSNP)

This degree provides students with a framework to enhance anorganization’s ability to identify, develop and deploy newproducts and services. This degree emphasizes building structural design and analysisand meets the needs of architectural, civil or structural engineerswho desire increased knowledge to design modern buildingstructural systems. Master of Science in Cardiovascular Studies (MSCS)This degree is ideal for engineers seeking a greater background in the medical sciences, individuals with science degrees who are

interested in learning more about instrumentation, modeling and research, or perfusionists who want to expand their education butdo not need the clinical experience of the MS in Perfusion program. It is designed to complement students’ undergraduate educationby providing an opportunity to expand their knowledge in the areas of cardiovascular health sciences, physiologic modeling andresearch methods.

Master of Science in Perfusion (MSP)This degree provides a quality didactic and clinical education for those who want to become perfusionists. The clinical perfusionist is

involved in cardiopulmonary bypass, patient monitoring, blood conservation (cell salvage, modified ultrafiltration and plasmapharesis),intra-aortic balloon pumping (IABP), ventricular assist devices (VAD), total artificial heart placement (TAH), selection of equipmentand biomaterials, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), etc. Advances in biomedical technology have greatly broadened thescope of responsibilities of perfusionists.

In addition to academic degrees, MSOE’s Center forWorking Professionals and Graduate Studies offersspecialized programs that allow individuals to gaincritical skills within speciGc disciplines.

Seminars and WorkshopsWorking adults have the opportunity to attend seminars and

workshops to stay abreast of cutting-edge technologies, currentapplications and techniques. Formats range from two-hourseminars to five-day symposiums and workshops. ContinuingEducation Units (CEUs) are awarded to attendees. Participantsmust satisfy any prerequisite requirements.

CertiGcatesCertificate-level training is conducted to provide a rapid means

to transfer knowledge. Participants are tested upon completionof the certificate program to demonstrate an understanding ofthe material. Some certificates are eligible for academic credit.With others, CEUs are awarded to participants.

Students wishing to attend MSOE on a part-time basis may doso by completing the following steps:

1. Complete the free online application at www.msoe.edu/apply. Goto Working Professional Applications, Undergraduate Application.

2. Mail the appropriate transcript(s):• Students who have earned 24 semester or 36 quarter college

credits should have their official college transcript(s) sent fromeach college they previously attended.

• Students who have completed fewer than 24 semester or 36quarter credits should have their official college transcript(s)sent from each college they previously attended, in addition totheir high school transcript (and G.E.D. test scores ifapplicable).

• Students with no previous college experience should have theirofficial high school transcripts (and G.E.D. test scores, ifapplicable) sent.

Please note that for a transcript to be “official” it mustbe mailed to MSOE directly from the issuing educationalinstitution.

Admission StatusUndergraduate students may take classes under the followingadmission status to help ensure they can easily start theirindividual educational plan:

Full acceptance: Students are admitted directly into theirprogram of study.

Probationary acceptance: Students are admitted directly intotheir program of study but must satisfy additional requirements.

Non-matriculated status: Students have not been accepted toan academic program but may take up to three courses (ninecredits) for one quarter. At the end of the quarter the studentmust have earned a grade point average of 2.50 and havesatisfied all admission requirements to be considered forfull acceptance.

Non-degree status: Students have not been admitted to aprogram of study(s) but may complete up to 30 credits in theirarea of interest. Non-degree students must demonstrate thatthey have met prerequisites for the courses.

The Registration Process1. As a new student, you are encouraged to register in person. This first-time registration will take approximately

30 minutes to complete. During registration, you will receive academic counseling, assistance in schedulingcourse work, a parking permit, your student I.D. card and a campus tour. In future quarters, you mayregister online.

2. As a new student, $175 is due upon registration and may be paid with cash, check, MasterCard or VISA. Aletter of authorization for company invoicing also is acceptable. In future quarters, you may register withoutpayment if no prior balance remains on your account.

Cardiovascular Studies (MSCS)1) Applicants must have earned a bachelor of science degree in an

appropriate discipline (biomedical engineering, biology, biomedicalsciences, etc.) with an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.80 (on a4.00 scale).

2) At least one undergraduate course in physiology (or anatomy andphysiology) is required. Recommended course work includesbiochemistry, math, physics, and statistics.

3) GRE general test scores having percentiles that average 50 percentor better.

4) Two letters of recommendation.

Construction and Business Management(MSCBM) (Available Fall ����)1) A bachelor of science degree in a relevant field (e.g., construction

management, civil engineering, architectural engineering, etc.).2) Full-time work experience in construction or a related industry. At

least two years is expected. This requirement will be waived forapplicants who will be working full-time in such a position whileenrolled in the program.

3) Computer literacy, knowledge of word processing and spreadsheetsoftware, and a personal computer (laptop recommended) withInternet access.

4) Two letters of recommendation. If employed, at least one of theletters should be from the applicant’s employer or manager.

5) Test scores from the GRE if the applicant’s undergraduate GPA wasbelow 2.80 (on a 4.00 scale). Test scores must be submitted prior toregular acceptance into the program. Applicants are expected tosubmit scores that indicate potential in the program.

6) Completion of an advisory briefing with the first year of enrollmentis highly recommended. The briefing may be completed in either agroup session or individual conference, either by phone or inperson, with a faculty advisor.

Engineering (MSE)1) A bachelor of science degree in engineering, engineering

technology, or a closely related area.2) Specific course requirements include one year of calculus, two

courses in physics, and one course in each of the following:structured programming, differential equations and chemistry.Additionally, one course in each of the following engineering topicsis required: mechanics, thermodynamics, circuit analysis, andsystems analysis. It is expected that the applicant has earned a lettergrade of “C” or better in each of these required undergraduatecourses.

3) Test scores from the GRE general test if an applicant’sundergraduate GPA is less than 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale). Applicantsare expected to submit scores that indicate potential for success inthe MSE program, including scores from the “quantitative” testsection that are in the upper 50 percentile of those tested.

4) Prior to registering for any classes, the accepted applicant isrequired to speak with the MSE program director, either by phoneor in person, to plan a course of study.

5) Two letters of recommendation.

Engineering Management (MSEM)Marketing and Export Management (MSXM)New Product Management (MSNP)1) A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant field.2) At least three years of professional, full-time work experience. This

requirement may be waived for applicants who will be workingfull-time in such a position while enrolled in the program.

A “C” or better must have been earned ineach of these required courses. Most students entering the programwho hold a bachelor of science degree in a traditional engineeringfield from an ABET-accredited institution are expected to have therequired undergraduate courses. Students who hold an engineeringdegree but lack some of these courses, or students who hold othertechnical degrees, may need to complete deficiencies inundergraduate course work in order to meet all the admissionrequirements. These students may be permitted to begin coursework on a conditional basis, and are generally expected to completeall such requirements within one year. Such admission decisions aremade on a case-by-case basis.

3) Test scores from the GRE general test if an applicant’sundergraduate GPA is less than 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale). Test scoresmust be submitted prior to regular acceptance into the MSEVprogram. Applicants are expected to submit scores that indicatepotential for success in the MSEV program.

Medical Informatics (MSMI)*1) Minimum undergraduate degree GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale).2) GRE or GMAT general test scores having percentiles that average

60 percent or better, or a Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)average of nine on the individual scores. (This requirement iswaived for individuals with a graduate degree.)

3) Transcripts should show proof of undergraduate course work incollege algebra, introduction to statistics, introduction tocomputers, computer programming and medical terminology.

4) If your native language is not English, a score of 100 or higher onthe Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign language (TOEFL)with Speaking is required.

5) Three letters of recommendation. If employed, at least one of theletters should be from the applicant’s employer or manager.

6) A personal essay stating why the applicant wishes to pursuethis degree.

7) Prior to registering for any classes, the accepted applicant isrequired to speak with the MSMI program director, either byphone or in person, to plan a course of study.

*Please note that applications are evaluated in their entirety. Ifapplicants are deficient in one or more areas, they still are encouragedto apply and we may be able to recommend ways to complete theprerequisites and requirements.

Perfusion (MSP)Academic Requirements:1) Applicants must have earned a bachelor of science degree in an

appropriate discipline (biomedical engineering, biology, biomedicalsciences, etc.) with an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.80 (on a4.00 scale).

2) At least one undergraduate course in physiology (or anatomy andphysiology) is required. Recommended course work includesbiochemistry, math, physics, and statistics.

3) GRE general test scores having percentiles that average 50 percentor better.

4) Three letters of recommendation, two of which should be fromfaculty who can judge the applicant’s academic abilities. The thirdmay be from a faculty member or a supervisor/employer who canspeak to the applicant’s professionalism, ability to work on a team,be responsible, etc.

Clinical Requirements:1) Applicant must have observed at least two clinical cases under the

direction of a certified clinical perfusionist prior to formalacceptance into the program. If applicants cannot schedule caseviewings locally, these can be done at our facilities if the applicant isinvited for an interview.

2) Successful completion of a personal interview.

Structural Engineering (MSST)1) A bachelor of science degree in an architectural, civil, or structural

engineering program, or a closely related degree.2) Specific undergraduate course requirements include indeterminate

structural analysis, structural steel design, reinforced concretedesign and soil mechanics. Applicants who hold an engineeringdegree, but lack some of the specific course requirements, orapplicants who hold closely related degrees, may need to completedeficiencies in undergraduate course work. Applicants may bepermitted to begin course work on a probationary status. Suchdecisions are made on a case-by-case basis.

3) Test scores from the GRE general test may be required fromapplicants whose undergraduate GPA is less than 2.80 (on a 4.00scale). In such cases, test scores must be submitted prior to regularacceptance into the Master of Science in Structural Engineeringprogram. Applicants are expected to submit scores that indicatepotential for success in the program.

4) Two letters of recommendation. If employed, at least one of theletters should be from the applicant’s employer or manager.

5) A personal essay stating why the applicant wishes to pursuethis degree.

6) Prior to registering for any classes, the accepted applicant isrequired to speak with the program director, either by phone or inperson, to plan a course of study.

Federal and State FinancialAid Eligibility

A student must be enrolled in a minimum of sixundergraduate or three graduate credits per term in a degree-seeking program to be eligible to apply for federal and state aid.

� Admission - Be accepted for admission to MSOE. Yourformal admission is used to evaluate your eligibility for aid.

� FAFSA - Complete the Free Application for Federal StudentAid (FAFSA). You may receive this form by contacting theMSOE Student Financial Aid Office or by applying via theInternet at www.fafsa.ed.gov. When applying online, useMSOE’s FAFSA number 003868.

Your award offer determined by MSOE’s Student FinancialAid Office will be mailed to you and will list all aid you havebeen awarded for the upcoming academic year.

MSOE Payment Options*MSOE offers a variety of payment options to students. You

may choose a different payment option on a term basis basedon your financial situation. Financial AidStudents who have been awarded financial aid will generallyhave their aid automatically applied to their tuition account.Any balance not covered by financial aid is either due by thethird Monday of the term or can be divided into monthlypayments using the H.E.L.P. plan.

H.E.L.P. Payment PlanMSOE’s new in-house payment plan, H.E.L.P. (HelpingEveryone Learn and Pay) offers students monthly paymentplans for amounts due. The student determines how much oftheir balance they wish to divide into monthly payments. Anyamount not covered by H.E.L.P. will be due when billed. Tuition ReimbursementStudents who have employer reimbursement may defer tuitionpayments 30 days after a term’s grades are posted pendingreimbursement from their employers. Students will need toprovide documentation proving reimbursement eligibility.

Direct Bill to EmployersStudents who work for a company or organization that will paytheir tuition at the beginning of the term may wish to use thisoption. Students will need to provide documentationauthorizing MSOE to bill their employer.

Questions and AnswersQ. What will happen if my account is past due?A. Late fees of not more than one percent per month on the

total unpaid charge will accrue until your account iscurrent. In addition, you will not be allowed to register forfuture terms.

Q. If I am receiving financial aid (or other funds) that is inexcess of tuition/fees, will I receive a refund?

A. Yes. Refunds are processed after all tuition, fee, room andboard and other charges are paid. Your refund will beprocessed within 10 days of posting a credit balance.Refund checks are automatically mailed to the local addressyou have on record with the Registrar’s Office.

Q. What will happen if I withdraw from the university?

A. Withdrawing from MSOE, as well as dropping classes,can have an adverse effect on your financial aid as wellas your balance due. Visit www.msoe.edu/finaid fordetailed information.
