K wa-Zulu Natal Department of Health has another good story to
tell from Mseleni Hospital! On Friday 13th
November 2015, On behalf of the Min-ister of Public Service and Administra-tion –Adv. Ngoako Ramathlhodi, Deputy Minister for Public Service and Admin-istration, Honorable Ms Ayanda Dlodlo presented UMkhanyakude’s Mseleni Hospital a Gold award for 3
rd National
Best Batho-pele team of the year ( 2015) for providing the best health care to the community and putting its patients first (Batho Pele); this happened during the 3
rd Annual National Batho Pele Excel-
lence Awards Ceremony held at Emper-ors palace in Gauteng . This is amazing and it will become a history of Mseleni as

a whole for putting people lives as the priority in all aspects and their needs and to serve them with a good manner and dignity.Mseleni Hospital ensures that services they offer are relevant and are aligned with Batho Pele Prin-ciples. That really shows that the Department of Health is an ambassador of Service deliv-ery to those people who are hopeless and af-fected as the KZN health slogan says:Fighting disease, fighting poverty Giving hope in the community they serve. During assessment, the hospital had to prove beyond reasonable doubt with sound evidence on how exactly it implements each of eleven (11) Batho Pele Principles; and the Hospital’s Involvement on Operation Sukuma Sakhe proved to have had good impact in rendering health services to community of Mseleni and catchment area in the Umkhanyakude Health District.

We are happy about this achievement of being National Batho Pele Champion meaning Mkhanyakude District is moving for forward! We also like to thank the Of-fice of the Premier, Head office and our District Management for their support on this and never forget to thank Mseleni Hospital Batho pele team and staff for their potential and contributions they have made their support from the start up to the end of the story; however we know that we still need to strive for more improvements in our health system and to maintain the standards on what we have received said ; Dr. V.G.
