CAD/CAM/CAEUses in Manufacturing

New factories make growing use of microcomputers and microprocessors in robots, CNC machine tools, and flexible manufacturing systems.

Fully integrated CAM systems are implimented by multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and management scientists.

Importance of robots

The industrial robot is a key component in a total CAM system. The long term aim for the modern factory is “full computer integration”. This means developing compatible software for both CAD and CAM.

An Industrial robot consists of three elements- manipulator, controller, and power unit. The manipulator is a mechanical structure of joints and linkages which can be moved in various axes. One important measure of a robots versatility is the number of axes (or degrees of freedom) which are under control.

What makes the robot important is its flexibility, it enables automated operations to be programmed and re-programmed at very low cost

Entertainment Field Article

In this article it presents how the show “America sings” uses no actors but robots to run the show. The carousel theatre is an enormous circular building encompassing 83,000 square feet. The entire 200-ft wide building with the exception of a central area, is powered to rotate around its focal point.

Entertainment Field Article

The show that requires no people for its running, not even actors. It is a show performed entirely by robots

The unmoving core is sectioned off into six stages with a common backstage space at the center of the machinery

Once every four minutes, scene changes occur, the entire outer part of the building rotates sixty degrees, transporting each section of audience sequentially from one stage to the next
