SHHH….it’s a Secret Santa Gift Exchange!Like in our Junie B. read-aloud, our class is going to participate in a

Secret Santa Gift Exchange. Your student will draw a name of a classmate and KEEP IT A SECRET! We will decorate bags to place our

Secret Santa gifts in and surprise our classmate. Our price limit is $1.00. So, please take your child to pick out and purchase a new item he/she thinks their classmate would enjoy and remember, your child shouldn’t tell whose name they have! **Gifts need to be sent in by

Monday, December 17th please!!

Here’s what’s happening in our class!

Readers’ Workshop – The students are enjoying our read-aloud, Jingle Bells, Batman Smells featuring Junie B. Jones! We will also be doing one-on-one reading assessments with each child to see exactly what level your child is working at and update guided reading groups as needed.

Writers’ Workshop – We are still focusing on the informational genre. Students have begun researching an animal so they can write an informational brochure about their selected subject. I am looking forward to seeing their final pieces!

Word Study – We are continuing our daily Saxon Phonics lessons. Please look over the sheets we do in class and review the Spelling List so you know the patterns your child should be mastering.

Math – We will be finishing up Unit 3 in Math with a focus on adding and subtracting on the number line and solving story problems with two-digit numbers. Keep up the good work on that nightly fact practice!

Science – We are working on our economics unit. Students are learning about saving/spending, scarcity, opportunity cost, goods/services, and how goods are allocated.

………………………………………………………Have a very Merry

Christmas!

AnnouncementIf your child is a car rider in the morning and plans to eat

breakfast in the cafeteria, he/she needs to be at school no later than 7:15. This will allow students time to go through
