REWARDS

All prescription and over-the-counter medication in original containers must be given to the school nurse.

No teacher or student will administer aspirin or Tylenol during school

Medications

Lockers are issued free of charge however a lock must be purchased for $5.00 from Homeroom teacher

Students CANNOT bring their own lock to be used on locker

Students are advised not to share their locker combination with others

No decorations are allowed on the outside of lockers

Documentation is required from dentist, doctor or court upon returning to school from an appointment

Parents must check students out of school in the Main Office

Excused Absences include: Illness (student or family), death in immediate family, weather (determined by DCS)

Students may make up work if absences are EXCUSED!

Attendance and Tardy Policy

Students may wear any solid color button front polo shirt, blouses with sleeves, or turtleneck

Shirt must be tucked in at all times Belts must be worn with a two inch or LESS

buckle with pants and shorts that have belt loops. All shoe straps must be strapped Coats, jackets, sweater, sweatshirts when worn

MUST be worn with collared uniform shirt/blouse. Undershirts must be solid white or navy with no

wording or pictures Sagging pants or shorts will not be allowed

Dress Code For All

Pants, shorts, skorts, capris, skirts or jumpers in solid navy, black or khaki

Uniform bottoms should be no more than 2 inches above knee and no more than 2 inches below knee

Sandals with straps are permitted T-shirts are not allowed except as

undershirts Sweater vests must be a solid color and may

be a pullover or cardigan style with no logo, belt or hood

Cell Phones must be turned off on school grounds according to HMS administration

Refusal to give an Electronic Communication device to a school employee upon request is a Class III offense

Consequences can be one of the following: 1) Five (5) days out-of-school suspension 2) Permanent Alternative Program at P.A.S.S. 3) Expulsion from DCS

Students are NOT allowed to leave gym or skylight area before 7:45am without a written pass from a faculty member

Students are not allowed in halls during class without a signed hall pass

No food or drink will be permitted in classrooms

Students are to enter building immediately upon arrival to school

Keep up with your teacher, do not leave long gaps between persons

Keep your hands and feet to yourself; no horseplaying

Ipad will be used daily in math If you bring Ipad to class, it must be in ON

lead to: - Ipad taken up by teacher and or sent to office - complete loss of Ipad use depending on infraction

times (it does not leave the classroom)

Classroom Procedures

Hand-held pencil sharpener is encouraged and can be used any time

Get permission from teacher to empty hand-held

Sharpen only one (1) pencil per student per day during the first five minutes of class; any abuse will forfeit use of electric sharpener

If your pencil lead breaks during class, politely ask teacher or a neighbor to borrow a pencil using polite manners, being faithful to return it to its owner.

Math books will remain in the cubbies Tear out assigned pages carefully and slowly;

write your name on all Independent Practice pages BEFORE you tear it out and turn into class basket

Bell ringers, vocabulary definitions and notes will be written in composition book; stored also in assigned cubbies

Binders and other books are stored under your seat
