MARKET COMMENTARY
The Sensex rose 188.51 points, or 0.54% at the day's high of 35,404.83 in afternoon trade. The index fell 82.12 points, or 0.23% at the day's low of 35,134.20 in early trade.
The Nifty 50 index rose 23.90 points or 0.22% to settle at 10,741.70, its highest closing level since 2 February 2018. The Nifty rose 48.45 points, or 0.45% at the day's high of 10,766.25 in afternoon trade. The index fell 27.95 points, or 0.26% at the day's low of 10,689.85 in early trade.
The broader market, however, witnessed selling pressure. The BSE Mid-Cap index fell 0.63%. The BSE Small-Cap index fell 0.13%. Both these indices underperformed the Sensex.
The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was negative. On BSE, 1,507 shares fell and 1,176 shares rose. A total of 128 shares were unchanged.
Nifty likely to trade in the range of 10550-10860.

as Stocks Climb: Markets Wrap: - Oil
rallied after President Donald Trump’s
decision to walk away from a nuclear
deal with Iran, while the dollar slipped
and 10-year Treasury yields topped 3
percent ahead of a key bond auction.
Forex - Dollar Backs Off 2018 Highs
as Rally Pauses: - The dollar pulled
back from the year’s highs against a
currency basket on Wednesday, as
currency traders took a breather after its
run higher in the wake of President
Donald Trump’s decision to pull the U.S.
out of the nuclear deal with Iran. On
Tuesday, Trump pulled the U.S. out of
the international nuclear deal with Iran,
raising the risk of conflict in the Middle
East and a knock-on effect for global oil
supplies and the global economy.
WTI Oil Tops $71 After Data Shows
U.S. Crude Stocks Fall by 2.2M: -
Crude prices extended robust gains on
Wednesday, hitting fresh three-and-a-
half-year highs after data showed that
U.S. oil stockpiles fell much more than
expected last week. The U.S. Energy
Information Administration said in its
weekly report that crude oil inventories
fell by 2.2 million barrels in the week
ended May 4. The report also showed
that gasoline inventories decreased by
2.2 million barrels, compared to
expectations for a decline of 450,000
barrels. For distillate inventories
including diesel, the EIA reported a drop
of 3.8 million barrels.
Iran's Gold Demand Set for Spurt
Before Trump Sanctions Bite: - Iran’s
gold demand will probably be “strong”
for the next few months and then
gradually decline as U.S. sanctions start
to take effect.
