Winter is almost over according to the calendar, but you wouldn’t know it by the way storm after storm keeps coming through the north east. Hopefully spring is just around the corner for all of us. With
that in mind, our Spring Conference in Bing-hamton is April 26th – 28th, hope to see you there to learn from the workshops and see what’s new to take back to your Lodge and Chapters. Tips Training will be on Friday, April 25th at 1pm. As always there will be several Moose Charities and NY State Programs to donate to during our March of Checks on Saturday afternoon session. A list of them will be sent to lodges and posted on website.
All the lodges and chapters should be getting ready for your new line up of officers for this coming year. Make sure they get officer train-ing by July 1st. If a training session is not done in your area, you can do it on line. It’s important to get your training done, so you know what your position as an officer is all about to help keep our lodges and chapters running proper.
Tickets have been sent to District Presi-dents to distribute to Lodges and Chapters. There is no reason Moose Legions, Higher Degree Coun-cil’s and District’s can’t get in on this. I’m sure we could all find some where to use 10,000 extra in-come. We need 100% sales on this to keep going in the right direction. The drawing is May 18th at Binghamton Lodge, 4 to 7pm. Come on, I know we can do this.
Looking forward and hoping to see a lot of you in Las Vegas for the International Moose Convention June 27th – July1st. The workshops, the lights, the food, the people, any body who has been there knows what I’m getting at, I forgot about the gambling. As you probably figured why I put that last is because I don’t. (con’t p. 3)
Fraternally Yours,
L T Rice L T Rice, NYSMA President

Message from the Deputy Grand RegentMessage from the Deputy Grand RegentMessage from the Deputy Grand RegentMessage from the Deputy Grand Regent
Spring is here! The clocks have been turned ahead and I am ready for long days and flowers. Living on Long Island, I feel the call of the ocean and the sound of the waves crashing on the beach. Soon our snow birds will be returning home and the lodge will fill up with our members that spent their winter in the sunshine. It will be good to be together again.
Officer training will be scheduled soon in our local chapters. We will be having a WOTM officer train-ing in Binghamton on Thursday April 25th for our 2019-2020 chapter year. If you have your obliga-tion as an officer to complete your training, it gives you a new option to attend this early class. Many took advantage of this option last year, and I can assure you, you will enjoy a class taught by Carol Bowker.
Our plans are shaping up nicely for our Midyear conference in Binghamton on April 26th, 27th, and 28th. It is spring and time to celebrate new beginnings in our chapters, with new officers, and new academy of friendship members. It is the first degree achieved in the Women of the Moose, and it is well earned. If we look at all the friends we have acquired during our membership in the Women of the Moose, we can feel we are truly blessed. As we work together to help those in our community, and our chapter, we can earn our degrees. Let’s celebrate our new class of Friends and dedicate ourselves to help and encourage coworkers to achieve success in our organization. Maybe take a new officer under your wing and guide her in her new position. There is nothing scarier than starting a new job, and feeling alone, we all need our friends to help us adjust.
I look forward to seeing everyone in Binghamton. We always enjoy each other's company when we get together.
Alona
Alona Meyer, DGR
Hello coworkers,
(con’t from p. 2) You’re probably wondering why I haven’t said anything about member-ship. That should have been first because it’s important, I know you’ve been working at it and we are all still scratching our heads wondering what else we can do. it’s not just us, It’s pretty much the whole country and every organization out there, Don’t give up because most of us don’t live in a large city to draw our members from, but we still have to compete with other clubs and etc. Most of us don’t have the room or the money to make our lodges with computer hookup at the bar or working stations for our members to use. We don’t serve 3 meals a day because we can hardly find anyone to help in the kitchen 1 or 2 nights a week and forget about the whole month. Like I said, don’t give up. There are still mem-bers to get. Keep trying. Thanks for your time and effort. L T Rice, NYSMA President

Hello Co-workers,
As I am writing this article I am enjoying the warmth of the sunshine peering through my window and I can hear the birds chirping, so I do believe that Spring has finally Sprung!
And here we are once again at the end of a chapter year and in the works of beginning a new year and with that comes many new opportunities along with new officers, chairman, making new friends and new fond memories.
For some of us we also face many challenges along the way, it has for some chapters become more difficult to retain their current membership status and to sponsor new members onto their chapters, we need to somehow find a way to come together and find new ideas and ways to improve upon this problem.
Please work your retention lists right out of the gate in May don’t wait until March of next year and expect a miracle to happen as it’s not going to! It takes all of us working together to achieve our goals and meet our responsi-bilities to our children, our seniors and our communities.
It takes a Village and We are that Village!
To each of you who have stepped up to the plate to serve your chapter as an officer or chairman this year, we Thank You and want to wish you all a Fun and Successful New Chapter Year!!!
Congratulations to our New Academy of Friendship Co-workers we are Proud of You and your success. Please continue to serve your chapters and help others to achieve their goals as well. Welcome Ladies to the first step in the Higher Degree of the Women of the Moose.
A friendly reminder to each of us that kind words are like honey to the soul and healthy for the body, so remember to always be kind to one another.
In Friendship & Fraternalism,
Christine Christine Brooks
PDGR, & NYS WOTM Membership Chairman

NYSMA Teen Club and Youth Group
Convention is coming up fast and we are planning a fun-filled weekend for our Teen & Youth Members. We are hoping to have a fun activity on Friday and a day trip on Satur-day. Of course we will have fun activities planned for the Hospitality Room on Friday and Saturday night and our Banquet on Saturday.
We are selling candy bars to help cover the costs of these events but in order to make all this happen we need you to help. Donation checks can be made out to NYSMA ear-marked for Teen & Youth Conference Activities and can be given to Rick Freeman or Becky Freeman-Brauen. As always, Teen Activities are open to all Youth (of any age) affiliated with the Moose, even if your Lodge or Chapter does not have a Teen Club. We will be carpooling to most of the events away from the hotel. Please contact Rick Freeman at (585) 610-6082 or Becky Freeman-Brauen (585) 610-0717 to let us know how many Youth to expect from your Lodge or Chapter or if you have any questions or concerns. Knowing ahead of time how many we have coming makes these events much easier to plan. Please let us know ASAP! We encourage your Youth members to attend all events to get to know each oth-er and to have input on future Youth Activities. On another note I am very pleased to announce that we have two students selected to attend the Moose International Youth Awareness Student Congress in Philadelphia April 25-29. We are asking Chapters and Lodges to send in donations to help cover transportation and lodging expenses for these students. Please make these checks out to NYSMA and earmark them for Youth Awareness. Remember that the Moose Youth are the future leaders of our Organization. We need to support and encourage them to keep the Moose growing. Please give generously in your donations to these programs and remember if you are donating to both programs, please write two separate checks. Your donations can be mailed to us ahead of time or given to either of us in Binghamton. Also, we do sell full boxes of candy bars for Chap-ters and Lodges to resell after Conference. If you would like to do this please let us know so we can have boxes of candy bars prepared for you. It is $50 for a mixed box of 50 candy bars. Hello Brothers and Co-worker's,
Spring is finally here. The birds are coming back, the flowers are starting to peek through, and the trees are starting to get leaves. The spring is such a beautiful time of the year. It gives everyone a sense of lighter hearts and willingness to do kind things for one another. It's a season of Hope.
During this season of hope we challenge each of you to remember our Seniors at Moosehaven and our Children at Mooseheart. They look to us for the hope of a better lifestyle. This could be a safe environment, encouragement, or companionship.
We as moose members, can help insure this feeling of hope in our Seniors at Moose-haven and our Children at Mooseheart. Our founder James J Davis had a vision many years ago. To work together to enrich the lives of children and seniors of our commu-nity. By donating to the Donors Circle we insure the future of Mooseheart and Moose-haven. With our gifts to the Endowment Fund these two cities will be there for many people to enjoy for years to come.
If you are able to donate to the Donor Circle you will be recognized for your donations by receiving pins along the way. Once you donate to the Donor Circle your donations are cumulative and they also help your Lodge and chapter to reach their all giving goals. This is a win-win program for all moose members.
As we enjoy this beautiful Spring season of hope, please remember our Seniors at Moosehaven and our Children at Mooseheart. Together we will ensure the future of Moosehaven and Mooseheart for many years to come.
