TEXAS 4-H AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
FIRST MEETING OF THE 2013-2014 TEXAS 4-H TECHNOLOGY TEAM
By: Clare Trent, [email protected]
Contact: Dr. Toby Lepley, [email protected]
(College Station, TX - November 19, 2013) – The members of the 2013-2014 Texas 4-H Technology Team met for the first face
to face meeting last weekend at the 4-H Youth and Development Office. _____Full Name____, from _________ County, was pre-
sent at the meeting with the other 12 members and 4 adult advisors from across the state.
On Friday, November 15th, the meeting started off with teambuilding exercises facilitated by graduate student Sidney
Hammond from Texas A&M University. Following that, Dr. Toby Lepley reviewed the expectations for the weekend and the
Technology Team's past involvement in several 4-H events. Saturday was filled with several informative workshops mainly led by
second-year team members and the adult advisors. Every team member installed a variety of program trial versions to use during
the demonstrations. These workshops included ProPresenter led by Jonathan Kocmoud from Brazos County, Photo Editing using
Adobe Photoshop led by Brianna Brumfield from Webb County, Using a Green Screen and Applying Adobe After Effects led by
Mr. Christopher Kocmoud and Brianna Brumfield, Live Video Streaming led by Stephen Kocmoud and Natalie Criscione from
Brazos County, and Using Skype/AIM led by Charles Leano from Jefferson County. During the green screen workshop, for exam-
ple, the team was able to record a video of a member delivering lines from a movie in front of a green screen, import it into Adobe
After Effects, and add backgrounds and special effects. The finished video can be found on the Technology Team's Facebook page
(https://www.facebook.com/Texas4HTech). Sunday morning began with a workshop on Document Layout Using Adobe InDesign
led by adult advisor Mr. Christopher Kocmoud. The weekend was then wrapped up by member committee assignments and com-
mittee meetings. Overall, no member walked away without learning at least one new technological skill, and the team as a whole
shows great potential and zeal for the upcoming year.
