    Student Monitor Job Descriptions

    Student Monitors will be assigned specific tasks by Show Management. The duties listed below are

    examples of the types of activities that student monitors will be responsible for and are not necessarily

    complete or extensive.

    DUTY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Head Monitors Scheduling & general overseeing

    Booth Runners Move materials from storage areas to booths as requested; move materials to and

    from presentation rooms; break down empty boxes/general helpers

    Hall E Doors Hand out programs as required; stuffing programs as required

    Boxes/Trash

    Removal

    Flatten empty boxes as required (box cutters provided); trash collection in bins

    provided.

    Presentation

    Rooms

    Help control traffic in and out of meeting rooms as required by security personnel

    make sure water at back of room is refreshed regularly; ensure water at head table

    inside room is refreshed regularly between sessions; may be asked to control

    lighting for AV presentation.

    Signage

    2 monitors are required on the first day to put up and take down the directional

    signage between the North building and the South building.

    Room signage 2 monitors are required on the first day to put up schedule

    signageSignage tasks to be coordinated onsite by Head Monitors

    Floaters Whatever is required; eg. handing out programs and bags, relieve for lunch &

    breaks, assist exhibitors to move materials upon request, run materials between

    floors and other similar duties

    HOURS OF WORK Friday, September 19 7:30am 6:30pm

    Saturday, September 20 9:00am 5:30pm

    Sunday, September 21 9:00am 6:00pm

    The Fair will provide you with one t-shirt for the Fair. Clothing should be clean, and appropriate for

    some manual work, such as moving boxes of programs. We suggest jeans, t-shirt, and runners.

    WAGES $475.00 for the three days of work

    Waiver of Liability and Release

    PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY. If you have any questions, have them answered before

    signing this document.

    In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Ontario Universities Fair at the Metro Toronto

    Convention Centre, I, , in full recognition and appreciation of

    the dangers and risks inherent in such activities, do hereby waive, release, and forever discharge the

    organizers of the Ontario Universities Fair, its officers, agents and employees from and against any and

    all claims, demands, action or causes of action for costs, expenses or damages to personal property or

    personal injury, or death, which may result from my participation in these activities.

    I understand and admit that my participation in the Ontario Universities Fair is of my own choice. I

    assume full responsibility for any injuries or damages resulting from my participation in this program

    including responsibility for using reasonable judgment in all phases of participation of the program. I

    recognize and understand that the activities may be hazardous, that my participation is solely at my

    own risk, and that I assume full responsibility for any resulting injuries and damages.

    I understand that it is my responsibility to notify the appropriate person in the workplace of emergency

    medical information. I also understand that this Waiver of Liability and Release binds my heirs,

    executors, administrators, and assigns as well as myself.

    I acknowledge that I have read and understand this entire Waiver of Liability and Release, and I agree

    to be legally bound by it.
