Going Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness- Thank you to EVERYONE who donated to this worthy cause. We were able to send a check to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for $700!

Red Ribbon Week - October 26th -30th Hugs not drugs! Be Drug Free!
o Special events include: guest speakers, door decoration competition, drawing for two Disney stuffed animals for students who participate in Red Ribbon/Wellness Week. Each student will have the opportunity to earn two tickets per day - one ticket for participating in the Spirit Week and the other ticket for participating in the Wellness Week! At the end of next week, we will collect all of the tickets and have a drawing for the stuffed animals.

o Mustang Milers Monday- Come to school at 7:30 AM and walk or run laps around the track o Taste it Tuesday- Bring 2 vegetables: one for a snack and one for lunch o Wellness Wednesday- Bring 2 pieces of fruit: one for a snack and one for lunch o Thirsty Thursday- Bring a bottle of water to school o Walk/Bike to School Day Friday- Walk or bike to school o Unplug Saturday- Turn off the television, cell phone, iPad, iPod, computer, and video games
Clothing Drive- Ends November 25th- We want the things you don’t! We have teamed up again with Big Brothers Big Sisters to raise money for our school and help those in need. Big Brothers Big Sisters will pay .20¢ a pound for the following items: Last year parents donated 3,428 lbs resulting in $685!
o Wearable & Usable-- clothing, shoes, belts, purses, handbags, lines, bedding, curtains, etc. o NO toys, furniture, books, music or household knick-knacks o Drop off your items in a tightly tied plastic bag to the front office. Items will be picked up weekly. o Tax donation receipts are available upon request
The 6th Annual PTSA Spell-A-Thon Fundraiser- Our 6th annual Spell-A-Thon is a fun and educational activity for
kindergartners through fifth graders, with all children reaching for their personal best. Students are given realistic word levels based on age, development, and grade. Practice games and activities will be provided for each student. Upon completion of the Spell-A-Thon, each student will receive a certificate of participation, indicating the correct number of words achieved. Thank you very much for your participation! ***Funds will help purchase a ChromeBook Mobile Lab on a Cart***
o Friday, October 23rd- Spelling Word Packets will be sent home o Friday, October 30th- Spelling Test o Wednesday, November 4th- Pledge sheets & money due in the MORNING o Friday, November 6th- School-wide Assembly and celebration
1st Grade Field Trip- Wednesday, October 28th to the Children’s Museum from 9:00-12:30 PM.
3rd Grade Musical “Mighty Minds” Thursday, October 29th at 7:00 PM in the MPR.
School Picture Retakes & Class Group Pictures- Monday, November 2nd Class group pictures will be taken. If a student
needs a picture retaken, the original picture package must be returned. New students and students who were absent on picture day in August will have their picture taken as well.
Half-day- Wednesday, November 4th- Dismissal at 12:00 PM.
PTSA Family Movie Night- Friday, November 6th from 7:00-9:00 PM. Movie selection to be announced.
Fall Craft Day!- Tuesday, November 10th. Students will create 4 different crafts during the school day.
Honoring Our Heroes Assembly!- Tuesday, November 10th at 1:45 PM. We want to honor our brave community
members: Military, Veterans, Police Officers, Firefighters, Border Patrol and their families. Please join us for a special assembly at 1:45 PM in the MPR. Please extend this invitation to other heroes in our community. Please R.S.V.P. to the front office by filling out a form. Thank you!
