• Mobile phones have changed our way of life but are they safe? Mobile phones were introduced in the 1990’s. They are now more than a million in use.
• In this project we will be looking at the health hazards and are they true.
• Mobile phones work by sending and receiving tiny microwave signals.
• They send them to the nearest phone masts which send them to their destination.
• They also send other messages to other phones.
• When your phone is switched on, it sends a signal to the phone mast to say, “I am here.” Then the phone mast locks on to its position.
• Scientists say that the mobile phone cooks your brain.
• Microwaves that the phone gives off goes in any direction.
• The microwaves are often absorbed by the thick bone of your skull or they pass through your skull and into your brain.
• These signals are so tiny you cannot feel them. Your brain becomes heated by the tiny microwaves but you cannot feel them.
• This does not mean that your brain becomes heated straight away. It does this over many years.
